SMCCU offers different kind of arrangements in one of the oldest part of Dubai, Bastikiya. I went to the cultural breakfast that was hosted by a lovely young Emirati woman. While eating a traditional breakfast, she told us about the religion, the history and the culture, telling us more about the clothing and social rules. It was all very interesting and she was very charismatic. As a new joiner to Dubai I can really recommend visiting SMCCU.

Wonderful to get to understand and partake in the Emirate culture. This centre is for exactly that purpose. You can book for cultural breakfast and dinners. It is always with education on the culture as well. You are free to ask any questions and you will be answered honestly and properly. Many time visiting a foreign country you do not get the privilege of meeting the "locals" and to see and experience their true culture. Here you can. After visiting the centre you can stroll through the Bastakia area which is the original settlement of the traders of Dubai.

My husband and I went on the Heritage Tour through SMCCU and had a wonderful experience. The guide was incredibly friendly and informative and was open to any and all questions. We learned so much about the culture and Islam. I had e-mailed the Centre in advance of booking anything to ask a few questions and they were extremely helpful and responsive. The guide also gave us very good directions on how to explore the gold and spice souks after our Heritage Tour. A must do while you are in Dubai.

This was a first class experience and one that everyone should do while visiting Dubai. We did both the Heritage Walk and the Cultural lunch, both facilitated by Nasif - a very worldly Emirati whose English is near perfect, sense of humour excellent, and ability to put his audience at ease about asking what may be awkward questions about Islam. The walk is a slow paced amble taking in a number of close by sights and all are explained in Nasif's interesting style and his philosophical chat inside the beautiful mosque was worth the modest cost by itself - very simple, logical, well structured but highlighting how irrational the World has become. Lunch was again very light hearted (with some of the same jokes for the mostly different audience) and all are included in the discussion, including the little ones in the audience. Food was lightly spiced and very tasty - again, well worth the cost and time taken. Walk was 90+minutes and the lunch about the same or a little more.
