“Few years back, a wonderful place!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

It was a great place when it was opened! The team was just superb!

It was pathetic today. Apart from the girl who approached every now and then, the rest if the team was just too bad including the person who received us!
Is this a way of cost cutting? Reducing the quality of service is not advisable at all!

As usual starters were good, though served cold!
Biriyani was worse than of a street vendor, but.

Helpful?

“The Biggest Portions I've ever Seen in a Restaurant!!!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

We decided to eat at Asha's as we had a meeting in the Wafi Pyramids and stumbled across it at the very top of the oddly designed walkways to get to the restaurants, it wasn't our first choice but the place before had the rudest staff we've ever encountered so we left the restaurant and found Asha's and I'm so glad that we did as the food was very authentic and extremely well cooked but as my title says... the portions are Massive to say the least, a main is enough for 2 people, possibly 3 but the dishes we had were all succulent, well spiced and delicious. The staff were all very polite and the booths are very comfy with pillows to rest your belly on once you've finished your meal! well worth a visit as its shortlisted in the Timeout food awards all the time but it can be tricky to get to as the Wafi is more for locals rather than tourists!

“Asha-less/Hopeless food”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

A Fashion-filled evening can be only complimented with the great food. Other night we were attending the fashion event at the Wafi mall, and to make our evening complete we moved on to the Asha’s for the wonderful evening.

Being one amongst the premier and special restaurants, Asha’s was always on our checklist, and we were waiting eagerly to savor in the first Indian International restaurant.

We entered from back side, and it took us a while to locate the main entrance. Once there, we were thrilled to be in the great ambience and layout they had preserved. On that dim-light was presenting an opulent atmosphere. Attendant there was kind enough to let us have a sofa seat, even when we did not have prior reservation.

Asha’s do serve liquor along with the food, but we being not even the social drinker chose to directly jump over the three-course menu. We had appetizers, starters, main course followed by Lassi. Now the real review starts. Every food item served, was just average, and I am sure we can get hundred places in Dubai where the same dish will be tastier. If we compare the cost involved too, then the overall rating pours down to below average. Lassi was the savior though and really worth it.

Somehow I suppose they are more inclined about serving liquor than food, maybe due to the margins. Even while placing the order, attendant was explaining all about the different cocktails and drinks, but the very revelation that we are not going to drink had casted a shadow over him.

They should put more efforts to enhance the quality of the food, that too when such a legendary singer’s name is associated with it. The literal Hindi word ‘Asha’ means ‘Hope’, and that is what we had stored in before reaching out to this place. Was it fulfilled? I hope that question mark at the end of the previous statement is enough to be for the talk of the town.

“Disgusting service but good food”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

I went to Asha's after a long time, since i had vouchers to use from my Entertainer i though i go for this restaurant since it had been a while i had it and also because i was craving for some good authentic Indian food.

We went during the weekend for Lunch and i dont think it was a good idea since it was too busy. We got a table outside even though we wanted to sit inside, we were told if we wanted a table inside that would at least take a good 30min and we didn't wanted to wait that long. After getting a table we had to wait for almost 15min before someone took down our order, after our order was taken down we were served with a basket of Papadum, the Papads were absolutely soggy and looked like it was kept out for too long, it had been absolutely soft and had lost its crunchiness. The mains took a while to come almost after 30minutes for once i though they forget about our order. The staff is really busy and didn't paid attention to our needs, we had to wait for a while before someone could assist us.

For our drinks we ordered Alchemist, its a absolutely refreshing mock tail mixed with Raspberry and Lychees, on my first sip i felt it was a bit bitter but once i got the hanged of it i finished it pretty quickly. For our mains we orders Chicken Awadh Biryani and Lamp Awadh Gravy accompanied by Garlic Naan and Romali Roti. The food was served absolutely hot and the waiter served us in our plates. I first started with the Lamb Awadh Gravy, this gravy had a nice mix of flavours and was not very spicy and we could easily get the taste of the yummy tender meat, not too oily or filled with masalas in fact it had the right balance, was good. The Chicken Awadh Biryani was something different then the usual Biryani's and it went down perfectly well with the Raita. The Biryani was amazingly delicious and i couldn't stop myself from having more of it. It consists of all the right flavours and the Chicken too was very tender, it was a tasty and i would definitely recommend this one. Even the Garlic Naan was not too oily and had the Garlic taste otherwise at times they tend to be stingy with the Garlic. After we were done again it took a while for some staff to come to our table and give us some suggestions for the Desserts, very slow and inefficient. We first had a good look at the Desserts menu and though of ordering Profiteroles but we were said thats not there next we though we go for Mango Parfait even that they said is not there at the end the waiter said there is only few things for Dessert so we went for Rasmalai. Dont know why the dishes are there if its not available for the customers. Fortunately as i was giving the order for my Dessert we even told them to get our bill because i was sure even thats going to take a while to come and i was right. The Rasmalai was pretty average lacked taste and was quite blend, they can do so much better with it.

Before my Bill came i had handed my Entertainer voucher so that it could be redeemed but too my surprise i couldn't use it since they dont consider Biryani a main dish and just last year i had used but now they dont accept it because they have made Biryani a side dish, how strange is that. This is so unethical because earlier i could use it but now they have changed there ruled to suit them. This thing made me quite disappointed.
The quantity is good of this place but service is absolutely bad and pathetic will take the staff a while to cater to you and price wise its expensive compared to other Indian Fine Dining Restaurants. I guess the Price which they are charging should also match the service they provide.

“Delicious meal in a nice ambiance”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

We enjoyed a delicious lunch with friends at Asha's Indian restaurant in the Mall of the Emirates, Dubai. The appetizers were perfectly cooked and came with poppadoms and pickles and our main courses were very tasty - finished with a good dessert which we all shared. Excellent meal and good service.
