“My second home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2012

Since over 20 years I have been connected to this marvelous, charming and welcoming down town hotel in Dubai. During the first five years, when we were living in Dubai, we used to enjoy many excellent meals, corporate and private events, like the magnificent new years eve celebrations, when the whole hotel had been converted into a huge party place or our superb farewell party in 1994 on the beautiful lawn at the swimmingpool in the centre of the hotel.
Since we had left Dubai I always like to come back to this superb hotel, a quiet oasis right in the centre of Dubai and next to the airport, which makes it extremely well located. I use it for my business trips and also regularly for relaxing holidays with the family and friends, when we wish to get spoilt under the warm sun of Dubai, surrounded by lots of greenery and tall palm trees, in paricular during the winter months.
The staff is extremely nice and welcoming and the 13 excellent restaurants offer a huge variety of the best specialities from all over the world, particulary to mention the superb Sea Food Market.
The management keeps changing and upgrading the facilities, such as restaurants, Gym, Spa, rooms and swimming pools (4 by now) allowing even long standing guests to make regulary new discoveries.
The Royal Club with its cosy rooms, impressive staff and the offered facilities is a real jewel, also for a spoilt business man.
I am already looking forward to my next visit to the Le Meridien Dubai Airport in Dubai.

Room Tip: Choose a Royal Club room on the ground floor, facing the swimming pool reserved for Royal Club guest...

I stayed at Le Meridien for an unexpected two day layover in Dubai. It was fabulous. If you book Royal Club rooms, the hotel completely pampers you. From round-trip limo transfers from the airport, to a private pool and longue, to the cooked-to-order breakfast, the Le Meridien really stands out for a business traveler. Although not a resort, the hotel grounds are spacious and there are a variety of restaurants catering to almost all gastronomies.

It's 2 minutes from the airport to the hotel and another two minutes back. A shuttle is available at all times. VERY effective.
The rooms are great - especially the renovated ones (all in white).
The staff is very helpfull.
This is a good business hotel and excellent stop over hotel. I would not recommend it for a holdiay stay.
We had a water pipe burst - and the hotel had to stop the water supply to the rooms. Very inconvenient, communication was bad. I was told 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes and, and, and.
The quality of the preparation of the food in the steak house has to be improved. The chef or cook is truly unexperienced.

Room Tip: ask for the white renovated rooms - excellent !

I regularly stay at the Meridien when on business in Dubai due to the close proximity of the airport. However at least once a year my wife accompanies me for a weeks winter sun and we always stay in the Royal Club area of the hotel. From my perspective the Royal Club experience is well worth paying extra for. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with subdued lighting and lovely comfy beds. The bathrooms are very good with separate shower areas and large bath and plenty of fluffy towels are provided.

Breakfast is provided in the Royal Club lounge and if I have a complaint it is that the lounge is too small to accomodate all of the guests at peak times. However the staff are very efficient and do their best to clear tables. The food is very good and there is a wide choice. Afternoon tea is provided which is a favourite with my wife. The hot scones are superb. In an evening complimentary beverages are provided which is very pleasant before venturing out into the Meridien Village for dinner at the great choice of restaurants on offer.

One tip I should share with you is that the Metro station at Terminal 1 is a short walk away but is not highlighted by the hotel as they want you to use taxis. Just ask for directions and it is easy to find. I always use the Metro as it is cheap, clean, safe and operates regularly throughout the day and gives you easy access to most of the Dubai Malls. The nearest is the "City Centre Mall" which is just two stops away and is huge with most of the big shops in place.

My last tip is the fact that there are major renovations ongoing at the hotel at present and they are expected to last well into 2013.

Room Tip: Ask for a 1st floor "Art & Tech" room facing the pool.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your continued loyalty towards Le Meridien Dubai, it is pleasing to learn that you have stayed with us on a number of occasions and that we remain your first choice while you are in Dubai.

Guests staying in Royal Club Rooms enjoy a private check-in lounge and outdoor pool as well as a la carte breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails in the privacy and comfort of the Royal Club lounge. We are also pleased to read that you were able to experience a number of our restaurants within the hotel.

Our concierge team refrains from directing guest towards the Metro Station due to safety reasons, as guest would have to cross the main road in order to get to the Metro Station. However, based on your feedback, the team has been briefed to direct the guest towards the Metro Station in case they prefer to use this mode of transport.

We look forward to your continued visits and take this opportunity to assure you of our best attention and personalized service at all times.

Yours sincerely,

I transit through Dubai often and have stayed in many Dubai 5 star hotels, but this one is truly the best, and it's really worth going for "Royal Club" which costs more, but is actually the best value (you can see all the extras they offer on their website). I arrived at 6am but was able to get a room by 9.30am (normally check in is 2pm), thanks to the helpful staff who really are as flexible and accommodating as they can be. Between 6 and 9.30, I had a complimentary breakfast and used the gym and swimming pool facilities and so was ready to hit the malls by 10am. I also highly recommend using the Le Meridien car service, which is slightly more expensive than taxis, but a good investment, given the unpredictability of Dubai taxi drivers (some good, some just plan dangerous drivers).
Best of all, the staff at the hotel are very friendly. I don't remember all of their names, but would especially mention Monica (hard to believe she is just a trainee, she is excellent), Mohammad who cheerfully manages baggage, all of the Royal Club dining room staff, and Dennis, the door man with a big smile. All of these people are away from home (Dubai being 95% expat population) and yet they are hospitable and I never felt they were doing so in the expectation of a tip.
Yes, it's an airport hotel but extremely quiet. The beds are the best.

Room Tip: The royal club rooms.

Stayed in the royal club part of the hotel. Arrived at 930am from an early flight and though no room was ready I was seated in the club lounge and provided with drinks and breakfast. A room was available 30 minutes later.
The room was excellent, really good size with a nice bathroom.
The staff were very attentive and polite throughout. Nice high tea provided in the club lounge, finger sandwiches, cake etc.
Another coup is the 3 hour complimentary drinks in the lounge 6pm to 9pm!!!
The Gym is also brilliantly equipped.
Downside 99AED for wifi! An outrage.
Other than that and the slightly strange wet dog aroma in some parts of the hotel, top marks

I was on transit in Dubai for 6 hours. This hotel was provided by Emirates Airline. I enjoyed the 6 hours in the hotel with a nice lunch in the Yalumba restaurant. The Yalumba provided a buffet luch with plenty of choices. The staff were so polite and nice in particular during lunch. I slept for about an hour without any disturb. The room and toilet were clean. The pillows were just what I wanted; so comfortable. Room service was quick and efficient.

The check in and checkout were swift. The hotel looks old but well maintained and clean

I cannot comment on the price as the hotel was provided by thye airline. I strongly recommend this hotel especially if on long transit because it is very close to the airport (between 5 to 10 minutes by car). I did not hear any aircraft sounds while I was in the room
