We have just returned from a six day holiday in this wonderful hotel. This was our third visit and it must be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Yes there is building work in the area BUT it did not detract from our enjoyment. Recent improvements to the lovely gardens enhanced the stay with a new swimming poll (there are now 4) as well as extra seating areas. At no time did we feel crowded in the garden as it is so spacious even though the hotel was full. There are ten resturants inside and in the gardens. We have eaten in all, but this time we ate in Fusion (the Thai), Maya (Mexican), Ossigeno (Italian) and SeaBreeze (Fish) All are excellent. (We also had breakfast each day at Fusion). All rooms are spacious, clean, well furnished, and comfortable. We had a deluxe seaview room with lovely balcony. Room service is first class. In fact one of the best aspects is the quality staff - nothing is too much trouble and they all greet guests witrh a genuine smile. Service at pool side is very good - regular free cooling towels and glasses of sorbet in the heat of the day. Also at the pool side there is waiter service for snacks and bar drinks. There are two poolside bars as well as drinks kiosks in the gardens. The gardens are immaculate as is the beach (cleaned everyday) WE HAVE NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS WHATSOEVER ABOUT THIS HOTEL. We will certainly return again.

As a family we have always been of the opinion that there are too many great places in the world to return somewhere twice. How wrong we were!! We have been to this hotel three years running in mid August! Yes it is pretty hot but my goodness this is a hotel where luxury and top quality service from the staff are second to none.
We always stay in a Club room and enjoy the benefits of pre dinner cocktails and freshly made canapés between 7 and 8 which are served in the Club lounge. Yummy!
The Caracalla Spa is wonderful and the treatments and massages in particular are wonderfully relaxing.
Our boys love the Penguin Club and there is a wide variety of activities provided for them by friendly staff. It is also a good way for children to escape from the heat for a couple of hours each day.
The restaurants are excellent but as a family with hungry children we find the buffet really good, especially on the themed evenings as the curries are spectacular.

This was my first visit to Dubai. My partner & I had been in Australia for 3 weeks for a wedding & knew that we would be busy so the idea was to have 3 days in Dubai at a nice hotel for a bit of R&R. First off be careful at the airport on arrival. Only go for "official" taxis, which there are plenty of. Unofficial touts do hastle you & I guess cost much more. Taxis are fairly reasonable too. On arrival at the hotel, we had booked for club which included a free breakfast, fruit in room & canapes & free drinks btween 7pm & 8.30pm. On reading other reviews since my return, i didnt get a free bottle of wine! Anyway, the breakfast was fantastic. My partner has stayed at some very nice hotels in the past, on business & he said it was by far the most varied. There was absolutely everything ( & I mean everything) & you could get as much as you liked. They even cooked an omelette with any amount of fillings whilst you wait. All staff, at all times in the whole hotel were very courteous, helpful & obliging. Our room was nothing elaborate but very clean & had a sea view. (6th floor) The pools & gardens were immaculate. (Pools kept at 30c) there is a huge amount of building work going on in & around Dubai. However we were affected very little. Some mornings you could hear "something" which was the builders adding to the marina, but honestly not a problem. The service throughout our stay was excellent. The weather, however, was not so kind, so we did visit the Mall of Emirates one day which is well worth a look. 400 shops & an indoor ski centre. My only complaint about my whole stay was the extortionate service charges & taxes. We paid £720 for 3 nights (through Opodo) However, on checkout, the hotel charged us 20% extra for their services. So another £144 to pay, which I was not expecting, & I think this is way over the top, especially when you are paying a pretty high price to start with. I did complain to the hotel but their answer was I should take it up with whoever i booked it with! Opodos answer was it does say in their literature that service charges & taxes MAY BE EXTRA. This is a lovely hotel & i would recommend it, but be aware of any extra charges. I would go back to Dubai, probably in a couple of years when most of the work is supposed to be finished BUT I would definately check with any hotel what their services charges are beforehand so I do not get any more nasty surprises!

I'm posting this review quite a few months on..

Stayed at this hotel in June 2006 as part of a two week honeymoon which also included Mauritius.

Unbelievable service and hospitality.

Although there is lots of building work in that area & some days we could here a bit of it going on, it doesn't really affect your holiday along as you don't mind seeing cranes in the distance. (If you are thinking of staying at this hotel make sure you don't have an inland view as the building work will be a problem if you do)

We stayed in a Tower room with sea view (9th floor). Tower guests get a complimentary bottle of wine every day which is nice after a hard days sunbathing.

Weather very Hot!! (only dropped to 37 degrees at night) but both pools in the hotel were temperature controlled and were very refreshing. The sea was 36 degrees but absolutley fantastic. Sand was like powder and there was no slimy sea bed.

We didn't have any of the spa treatments at this hotel but did use the Hamann pools, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi which were all really amazing.

The Hotel has some amazing restaurants. The Prime rib and The Ossigeno being two of the best. Prices were about the same as a good restaurant in England with the(though the wine was around £20+ a bottle).

Went to the Gold souk where we were approached by lots of locals offering us fake handbags, watches, D.V.Ds e.tc. The gold shops are endless and can be quite overwhelming but if you know what you are looking for, and are prepared to haggle then this is good a place to go.

We also went to Deira City centre mall. (Next, Debenhams, Zara, Karen Millen e.t.c) There are also some gold shops here but the prices you can haggle to are a bit higher.

Went to Wid Wadi water park next to Jumeirah beach Hotel. (No building work up there) & were able to get some great pics of the Burj from here.

We took some Dirhams to Dubai but mainly used cards.

All in all a fantastic holiday.

I cannot rate this Hotel highly enough. Would definately go back, but probably during the cooler months

Stayed at many hotels all over the world and this one was definately in the top 5!

Its location is great - right on the beach with fabulous green grounds to walk through. Building work going on behind (building work is behind every hotel!!) is hardly noticable! It is about a 30min journey to the Emirates mall and 1 hr to the town centre (this is only due to volume of traffic and this you cant get away fom in rush hr!)

The staff were all wonderful and every need was anticipated - always greeted with a smile and a hello which really made a difference - anything you asked for you got - unbelieveable!

We stayed in the executive club section of the hotel which had a few extra benefits and the staff and facilities in that area were again excellent but i think if we had of stayed in a regular room we still wouldve had a great time!

Every restaurant in the hotel looked great - we ate in 3 of them - FUSION (Thai), PRIME RIB (Steak etc), OLLIGENO (Italian) - They were slightly pricey - but when the food arrived and with the level of service we recieved - it was sooooo worth it!

We would reccommend this hotel to families, couples, really people of all ages who like a bit of luxury with a very friendly atmosphere and who are in need of a nice break away.

Will definately return!

Just had a 3 day stay In Le Royal Meridien. Booked a deluxe room with sea view & balcony, arrived v,early & given first available room, it was quite small, plain certainly not deluxe. It was an expensive treat so I asked for an upgrade, told hotel was full except for a suite, for $60 extra it would include b/fasts, free bottle of wine daily, fruit bowl (which we were supposed to get anyway)& canapes each eve) It had a fantastic lounge & bedroom both with tv, dvd, cd. a large balcony in the lounge area, the decent size bathroom had a very good shower & a deep corner bath (which was quite difficult to get in & out of though) plus some quality amenities. Rm 807. Each evening we dined in the hotel, nowhere else nearby worth going to, the Seabreeze was excellent for pasta & seafood, Fusion was Thai/Indian mix & Ossigeno the Italian restaurant was also excellent & all staff very attentive. Beach is quite nice but better outside the Jumeirah beach hotel. It does have 3 pools & plenty of sunbeds, but the whole area is a building site all around, the roads are unfinished & the traffic a nightmare, just too far from city, better when all the work has been done, if it ever happens.

Just came back from a stay at the Royal Meridien, here are my impressions:

The hotel is fantastic but I would not say posh or exclusive. Our room (Deluxe with a sea view and a very big entrance and terrasse) was fine but the deco was a little old fashioned (Carpet, curtains, no flat screen, no spa bath).

The service is really good - I think that we were given a bigger room because our baby was travelling with us. He had a proper crib (A wooden one from IKEA) and when I called to check whether I could have a high chair, I was given one in a flash. I had dinner in my room a few times and the food was exellent (Wide choice).

The garden (Grass everywhere) and swimming pools are very nice (Lots of sunbeds all around). They have golf cars to drive you around although that is a little over the top.

The Kids Club- There is one indoors (Big room but I did not like it, felt a little claustrophobic) and one outdoors near the pool area. That one was great, you get sand, grass, table & chairs in the shadow. 3/4 hotel staff were in charge of entertaining the children (But if your child is under 4 you have to stay with him).

There are always several taxis waiting in front of the hotel and I tested one of their free shuttle to a shopping mall which was okay.

One last thing - The building work is nearly completed near the hotel - The level of noise is very low from a sea view room. The sea view is not that impressive because of the works on the Marina (Can see a few cranes on the right).
