Worth a visit. Apparently Prince Charles loves this area! Narrow street and handy craft shops.

The answer to question, where did you visit is always! but that option is not available on tripadvisor :).
The first time I came to Dubai, I saw this and fall in love with this place. I been there many times, but always find something interesting and never get bored. You have art galleries, handicraft shops, artistic cafes, amazing views, souqs and hassle bustle to watch in this area. Dubai museum, abra station, meena bazar are nearby. The hotels here must be great to stay at, I never stayed though. A great spot for photography in any season or any time of the day. Even in summer, you can walk, as there is lot of shades in the narrow lanes of bastakiya. One has to visit this to see how beautiful the communities were in UAE before they found oil!

This is what is left of old Dubai and has been wisely preserved and renovated. One of the only remnants of Persian Gulf architecture left intact in the entire region. Find an open door to one of the houses-turned-art gallery and go in for a peek.

Authentic historical Dubai with an exciting art scene... one of the only way to experience the local history.
