We (couple) stayed in DAM end of Sept 13- 3 nights. Birthday and anniversary treat. I booked an ocean deluxe room and we're lucky enough to get up graded to a suite (twice the size). This was possibly due to low residency and building work next door to the Mina part of the hotel. The room (though too big for our requirements) was fantastic, great view over the garden and beach, huge bathroom, seating and dinning area and a bar/ sink/ coffee area which is hidden away by folding doors. All the usual other stuff you expect from a 5 star resort. Our cluster of rooms was nearest the Al Qasr arm of the resort and near the kids play area. I was a little worried that this might be noisy (as we were looking for quiet) but we did not notice at all even though we had to walk past the kid area on most occasions. The resort is huge and is nice to stroll around if the weather is cooler or you can take a boat along their waterways- slower than walking but more of an experience. We used the spa which was very good, tried a few bars (Bar Bahri on Friday night was full of drunk 18-30s expats and we were sober- stay 2 mins and left) other bar at Al Qasr was good. Breakfast was excellent each morning with huge choices and we tried two restaurants Pierchic which has a fantastic location on the Pier and good food (bring extra money) and Paithai on the waterway, the food was amazingly good and again location and service first class.
Resort location is a little away from Dubai downtown so depending on your requirements and or time scales this is a great resort to enjoy the beach and travel into Dubai town occasionally. Also good for romantic couples and families alike. Would like to go back.
