I have been living in UAE for 17 years and I have stayed in most luxurious hotels around Gcc and the world, but I have enjoyed this visit with my wife and children the best, the experience eis different, swimming and enjoying water in the middle of the desert, a must do experience if you come to UAE, especially if you come between October till May, very good service and very good food offering and great pool

Room Tip: all rooms are great if you want a bit more bigger size go for deluxe room

We went to Bab Al Shams 3rd week in April for 5 nights. It was perfect!! We just wanted warmth, and some R and R. What more could we ask for. The transfer from the airport was slick and comfortable. We arrived and the hotel was quiet, relaxing and so clean. We arrived early and our room was not ready but it was no problem we were escorted to the pool and straight away nothing was too much trouble. About 2 hours later we were advised our room was ready and escorted there. It was lovely, not the top of range room but had everything we could want.Huge Kingsize bed, large bathroom and plenty of tea and coffee and fresh fruit.

The food for half board was buffet but wow what a selection both for breakfast and dinner.
I can honestly say for a short break in the sun, yes not cheap but worth every penny!
By the pool you are given towels which are huge and they lay them out for you, fruit kebabs around lunchtime are brought around as well as cooling face spray.
The journey back to the airport was just as slick, 6.30am breakfast and pick up 7am, comfortable taxi to the airport.

Be aware drinks are not cheap but again if you want quality this is the place to go.

We are from hong kong and spent one night at the Bab Al Shams hotel last week. The hotel is sooooo great. I especially love the arabian buffet for dinner. Lots of food selections and exotic performance. The waiters are very very kind. I remember there is one named Subash, he's passionate about his job and introduced a lot about the arabian culture and voluntarily gave us a tour at the "little museum" beside the dinning. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone going to dubai!!!!

Room Tip: Just one reminder, book early if you would like to try the spa.

We stayed for 3 nights starting on a Friday. We arrived at 9.00 am and were delighted to be checked in to our room immediately. Friday is the busiest day for local workers and families taking weekend trips which was interesting but but we did not feel not overly crowded. The room was one of the lower cost options but nevertheless absolutely lovely and the bathroom wonderful. The arrangement of the buildings and access corridors makes for a quiet and soothing environment. The food and service were excellent until our last morning when the wake up call and coffee the receptionist had practically insisted on arranging for us did not materialise. We spent 3 nights here on the way to Thailand and 3 nights in Dubai City on the way back and felt that combination worked very well.

The hotel definitely gives you a feel of old Arabic world charm with the small lanes running throughout the hotel. Rooms are well done and surrounded by greenery. In the mornings, if one opens the windows, it is a delight listening to the birds singing. The bathtub is big like a "hammam" and that was fantastic! But I wonder when they use luxury fittings for the whole bathroom, why would the hotel settle for a poor quality toilet !? The bed mattress was also out of shape in our room and we found it uneasy to sleep. Breakfast was fantastic both in variety and quality! But Le Dune was disappointing in their pizza and pasta both. Masala Restaurant, I think, used Mozzarella instead of authentic Indian Paneer and that too was served in a watery gravy. That was a bit disappointing as well. Most of the open area has been dedicated to swimming pools with some area for a garden. For a 5* property, one would expect much more open area to walk around.

I visited this resort about a month ago with some friends visting Dubai. Everyone was impressed of how this resort operates in the deserd! It was a great experience as it is an oasis just outside the busy Dubai! I would recommend this resort for small breaks as it is only few km away from Dubai with very easy access. The ambiance is great and the rooms are very unique, following the concept of the hotel!
