“Poor location”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

This is a 3 star hotel at best - definitely not 4 as advertised. Very tired and dated. Bathrooms in particular are small and dingy. My shower didn't work properly.

However the major problem this hotel has is its location. If you intend to get straight into a taxi every time you go out it is fine, but most people get around Dubai via the excellent Metro system and the nearest station is a kilometre away which in Dubai's heat is a big problem.

On the positive side, breakfasts were good, big choice of fruit and hot options. However this morning the hotel was WITHOUT power for 5 hours - no air cond, no lifts, no lights etc.. We were warned of this last night and it was not the hotels fault, but it was a major inconvenience and communication and apology were not adequate. I would not stay here again.

This hotel is in the heart of old Dubai. Right across the Museum and few blocks form the soukh.
You can literally walk to the historical places in Old
Dubai.
The hotel itself is very dated and has a lot of character. It is authentic and the decor takes you back.
Staff is very friendly and always willing to help.
At check in, you are offered a welcoming cocktail, it was a nice touch because by the time I reached the hotel it was 36 celcius, 96F.....
I didn't check out the pool so I can't really give a score on that one. I was mostly in and out as I was there on a business trip. Leave early and come back at dusk. The room which had a great view of old Dubai, was well kept and cleaned every day.
I also checked out the bar a couple of nights, there was a live band playing there. It was OK I guess.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely stay here again if I were to visit Dubai

My husband and I stayed here with our 2yr old. It is in the old part of Dubai and felt more authentic to us with the Arabian decor.

The pool area is pretty basic and small but you can have a cold beer there.

Good breakfast and location great in our opinion to go the the spice and gold Souks, museum or just have a walk.

Did not eat at the any of the restaurants or go into the English pub as quite expensive and smelt heavily of stale smoke.

Staff friendly especially the doorman and airport car driver.

Went to the Mall of Emirates area one day and so happy we stayed where we did in comparison as all too modern with the usual Ibis, Novotels etc.

Can do some shopping for souvenirs a couple of doors down too (turn right out of the hotel)

This hotel is located in the "old Dubai", opposite of the Dubai museum and quite close to the Creek. It has a special charme and we liked it very much. Sitting at the breakfast table with a view to the ship outside the Dubai museum is quite nice. We didn't check any of the restaurants, but there 3 or 4. Breakfast was ok. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

After reading reviews on TA we decided to stay here for our one night stopover in Dubai . In pictures it looks fine but the rooms are quite old and bathrooms mouldy . Pool area is tired and hotel not well located . You can do much better for the price ( it's not cheap ) . Breakfast was good . My daughter was yelled at by staff for wearing swimmers in the hall but as keys didn't work we couldn't get into our room .

In a City State where 7 star hotels are becoming almost commonplace, it is refreshing to find such a well placed, moderately priced establishment that offers very comfortable rooms, good food and excellent service throughout.
Handy for a walk to the Old Town Area, down to the Creek, or just across the road to the Dubai Museum and adjacent 'hop on, hop off' tour bus stop.
The hotel has an old Arabic charm about it whilst being modern in its facilities. This is NOT one of those chain hotels where you could be in any City in any Country. We will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back do not have much of a view but they are very quiet and peaceful.
