“Perfect getaway with the best service imaginable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2010

We booked this hotel for a short break as a belated honeymoon. I cannot speak highly enough about this fabulous hotel. The thing that separates out this hotel from all other five star hotels i've stayed at over the years was the quality of service. Most hotels of this quality will offer good or even great service but with the Jebel Ali it was more about the fact that the staff seemed to actually care about your sty with no ulteria motive (i.e. looking for tips and so on).

The beach was immaculate too with plenty of sun beds to go around and, if you'd prefer, some great swimming pools to back this up.

We tried three of the various restaurants on offer all of which produced fantatstic food (in decent quantities as well) backed up by the usual Jebel Ali service.

I'd thoroughly recommend spending at least one evening in the Mushref bar on the 7th floor of the main part of the hotel, which had a Swedish three piece house band whilst we were there who were brilliant. All in all it made for a thoroughly memorable delayed honeymoon.

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2010

We being a family with a two year old child and also our friends who had a six year old and a 6 month old baby stayed here for 8 nights in December and have never been so disappointed with a holiday as we were here. Having previously stayed in Dubai eight times in the last four years at The Grosvenor, AlQasr and the Atlantis our expectations were highbut we were left disappointed in all areas.

This is certainly not worthy of the 5* rating and at best I would say 3*.

Prior to arrivalI contacted the hotel direct to enquire what facilities they offered in relation to the baby. Having previously tken a baby to atlantis and GHH we have been offered baby toiletries, steriliser for bottles and stroller hire. Palm tree offers nothing and no advice had we been first time travellers to the area.

I then booked the hotel airport transfer which was a cmplete waste of money. The driver met us and escorted us miles way to where he had prked the vehicle which appeared to be a local car park not what a usual hotel transfer consists of where the vehicleis immediately outside and the drver willing to assist. Having 3 children between us and baggage representative of such I expected the usual assistance at least with the cases....nothing.

Having arrived at the resort, the driver took us to the Jebel ali part of the hotel and unloaded all the cases despite being told we were booked in at the Palm Tree Court. A few minutes later we were bluntly told by reception to reload and make our way to the Palm tree court.
Eventually we arrivedand were checked into the hotel. Following a sales pitch for the all inclusive option wich we declined to take up, we were shown to our rooms.....

This room is a suite.... which would not have looked out of place in a 3* hotel in benidorm ten years ago. I cannot stress enough how dated the rooms are. A brief look around found the bathroom dirty with a dirty toilet seat, the rug in the main living area was threadbare and the bed linen had visible human hair and the bed runner stained with a coffee cup stain. This was without looking further.

In a very disappointed mood we took a brief look round the resort. during this time, not one member of staff greeted us, or even ackowledged us despite passing several.

We decided to stick it out but following breakfast the folowing morning I had to raise y concerns with managment. Breakfast was horrible. Food had obviously been on display for some time. The food was dry and rubbery and the breadwas covered in flies as ws situated directly opposite the open door to the poolside. Twice during breakfast we asked for various cutlery which never arrived and we ended up leaving.

I intially spoke with the duty manager (Kenny), who found some of my complaints amusing... to which I had to ask him to kindly refrain from laughing at the dirty room we had been given. He made arrangements to speak with the hotel manager at 10am the following morning even though I told him that we were considering paying to move to another hotel rather than pay for bad service for the rest of the holiday. By this point I honestly just wanted to go home rather than waste anymore money.
The following morning failedto see the manager who contacted us later in the day and arranged to meet s in the lobby. We then sat waiting for forty minutes without apology to be told that he would remedy all the complaints and gave his word that they woud be rectified by morning. He even moved us to the Jebel ali hotel with club lounge access.

The rooms in jebel ali have recently been refurbished and more to the standard as would be expected. However everything else promised by the manager failed to be delivered.

Service is far below acceptable. Nobody genuinly wants to help or make you feel special unlike staff in other dubai hotels.
In the 8 nights we were there we were not offered a drink once by pool/resturant staff.
We were invited to the managrs cocktail reception at the turn on of the xmas lights and told how the manager wished t meet us. We attended and he seemed to avoid us and made no effort to meet us at all.

Food is expensive and very poor quality.

Beach towels look as old as the hotel

Beach attendants are few and far between and when asked for towels just direct you in the general direction of where they can be collected.

This hotel wa so bad we dined out around dubai mostevenings we were there and all I can suggest is that the staff from this hotel visit the atlantis or Jumeirah to see how it should and is usually done.

The final morning was an early start due to an early flight. We left room service cards out to ensure we ate before our journey. The cards were put out at 10pm and still there at six when we woke to no room service. Asa result of this, the 6year old of our partywas sick all the way to the airport.

We were also late to the aiport following a disgreemnt at check out.A different manager checked us out and queried what had been confirmed by the first manager. Altogether atotal shambles, waste of money and will certainlynot be returning. I am now looking to book our June holiday to have something to look forward to and erase any memory of this hotel and will defnitely be goin back to the true dubai hotles we have experiencd previously.

Cant stress enough my disapointment with this hotel and be warned of the false promises offered by management.

Dear boxerbirf,

Thank you for your sharing your feedback on TripAdvisor following your recent stay at Jebel Ali Palm Tree Court and Spa.

We have been in contact since your departure from the resort, and I would like to thank you for your understanding and patience. Once again, please allow me to apologize for our failure to ensure that you and your friends had a pleasant and memorable holiday during your recent stay with us.

I will not offer you any excuses because I do not have any, we simply failed to deliver the level of service we are known for and that has made us enjoy a large following of loyal guests. We fully understand that you were disappointed with the whole arrival experience, the rooms, the general service levels and the lack of proper follow up on your concerns.

I also sadly believe that we could have turned the situation around and provided you with a relaxing stay after the initial mishaps but I can only apologize that due to mainly poor communication between management we lost the opportunity to do so.

In regards to your disappointment with the rooms please be advised that a major refurbishment of all the rooms in Palm Tree Court & Spa will begin after Easter this 2011.

Please rest assured that we are very grateful indeed for your feedback, the points you brought to our attention whilst at the resort and your feedback on TripAdvisor has been discussed in detail and several actions have or are in the process on being implemented to improve our performance in the various areas mentioned.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Jebel Ali Palm Tree Court and Spa in 2011.

Yours sincerely,

Having visited the same hotel in 2004, the charm that used to be associated with this hotel has been lost. The unfinished construction just off the shore of Palm Jebel Ali has taken away the nice clean and relaxing atmosphere that the hotel used to have. Added to this that the rooms are in real need of renovation (unlike the hotel next to Palm Tree Court which was recently renovated). Restaurants don't excel in any, yet are priced to Dubai city standards. For anything longer than a quick weekend break, highly recommend you rent a car to be able to explore further.

Dear Swiss02,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on TripAdvisor following your recent stay at Jebel Ali Palm Tree Court and Spa.

I was sorry to hear that you felt there was no longer a relaxing atmosphere at the resort since your last visit. In relation to the Palm Jebel Ali, there is currently no construction work going on, and has not been for some time.

You have kindly mentioned that the rooms in Jebel Ali Hotel have been refurbished last year, which we are pleased to advise that we are also planning a room renovation in Palm Tree Court and Spa in 2011.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor, and I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Jebel Ali Palm Tree Court and Spa in the future.

There was nothing horrible about our stay, but there was nothing great either.
The bathroom was well appointed but the toilet didn't flush - it was fixed quickly but only after I had resorted to using a few shopping bags full of water to flush.
The grassed area next to the beach was jam-packed, probably because of the large number of non-staying guests that pay to use the facilities on a daily basis. We could not find a seat and so had to contend with the rabid crows on the beach. If you are arriving on a Friday or Saturday, do so before 9am, check your bags if your room is not ready and grab a seat.
If you are sitting away from the beachside cafes/bars, do not expect much service.
The food was OK but not worth the high charges - to be fair, this tends to be a Dubai-wide problem. The ice-cold draught beer was great.

The hotel greets you with a refreshing welcome drink. The whole complex is immaculately kept and the service is excellent. All the staff were welcoming, polite and a pleasure to chat to, from the managers to the bar staff, lifeguards, cleaners, receptionists and waiters. The Spa is set in wonderful gardens and is a great place to relax. Towels are supplied for use around the pool and on the beach. There is plenty of choice as to whether you sit on a lounger by the pool, on the beach or on the grassed areas. On Sundays a film is shown in the pool area. Lilos are put in the pool for you to lie on and watch the film under the stars; popcorn is also served. This was fun and we felt it would have been nice put on a second night during the week. There is plenty of choice when it comes to what you want to eat. I have 3 teenage girls and they enjoyed the buffet selection at lunch available, ranging from fresh pasta with sauces to salads, roasts and lots of different little puddings that had mine going back for more. In the evenings the food is usually themed, Indian is deffinitely tasty! We were very well looked after by the two restaurant managers from La Fontana and their staff. In the evenings there are also al a carte restaurants to choose from. Book a day in advance to ensure a table. The hotel is half an hour from the centre and the shops, use the hotel taxi, a local taxi or the courtesy bus - check times with reception. We all had a fantastic relaxing holiday and would recommend the quality of the hotel. As with all of Dubai, there is building work around including out to sea but didn't take stop us from swimming in the sea or sitting on the beach.

We stayed at the Jebel Ali for our first trip to Dubai in the middle of Oct for our silver wedding anniversary.
The room was ok, tiny balcony that you cant even get a chair on but all the balconys looked the same. Not a problem though.
The hotel was very good, food was wonderful and the staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble and always polite, friendly and helpful. The day of our anniversary we found a lovely chocolate cake in our room!
The shuttle bus was great and we used it most days. The breakfast's were great! and the white orchid superb food !
The beach was good and sea like a warm bath.
The cocktails were great!
All in all, a wonderful first holiday in Dubai and the Jebel Ali and we are already planning our next trip.
