“An oasis in a desert”
Reviewed 29 March 2013 via mobile

A fantastic spot for a boutique hotel. After staying in shangri la hotel for business, it was an experience to dwell in the only old part of Dubai that is still in style and intact.
A must visit place, sleep and wake up in court yard covered by a 100 years old tree, sip your coffee and enjoy an authentic Arabic breakfast.
What a joy

I meet a smiling staff, who welcome me and got interested in my well being. Thanks to their dedicated manager, whose Asian European experience, offered me advises on contemporary art in Dubai.

Thanks Iwan and his team for a wonderful experience. I will be back, keep my favourite room ;)

Dear A.S.,

It is indeed a nice contrast of your visit, to stay in a five star deluxe hotel in downtown Dubai and a boutique hotel near the creek.

While other hotels offer sumptuous breakfast buffet, we opted for unlimited table service breakfast with Arabic flair with fresh fruits, juices and good coffee/tea. We let the guests enjoy the singing birds under the ancient tree.

We advise you to come again in mid March, where all the contemporary arts fill up Dubai.

Warm regards,

Iwan Yamin

Beautiful, traditional old arabic style structure which throws your imagination in the past centuries atmosphere. We were in room n 1, extremely cosy and comfortable. All staff were extremely kind and helpful. The hotel is a modern art museum itself and we wish we had more time available to see it around. Definitely to recommend for a "special" trip to Dubai, just make sure you know in advance how to reach it because it is hidden in a maze of old small suk streets!

Dear Luigi 274,

Thank you for your time to write this review for us.

We are glad that you mentioned about the "ART" part of XVA Art Hotel. Although we are far from vein museum of modern art, we strive to showcase different exhibition every 2 months. The artist(s) are carefully chosen, we usually created a certain theme. Most of the artists live in Dubai, UAE while others are coming from other part of the world. The most important thing is that the art gives our guests another perspectives and enjoyment. A food for our mind.

We hope to see you again next time, maybe a few days stopover from a long flight to Asia?

Best regards,

Iwan Yamin

XVA Art Hotel is by far the beat experience I've had in a long, long, l-o-n-g time. The warm and friendly staff make you really feel as if you are at home, as well as the authentic Arabic decor. The rooms are cosy and quite, and there are two courtyards to choose from to relax and unwind with a glass of their delicious home-made mint lemonade. This was my first stay at this hotel, and will be the first of many.
Thank you to everyone at XVA Art Hotel who made our stay so enjoyable!

On a recent business trip to Dubai, a friend (who has recently taken up permanent residence in this opulent city), recommended we spend a couple of nights at the XVA Art Hotel near to Dubai's heritage village and the busy Creek. He was spot on, this was a very trendy, artsy, and unique little enclave - very friendly and hospitable, with a great veggie menu and mint cocktails to die for (even without alcohol!) The location was also perfect (so close to the bustling Creek with its colourful array of floating restaurants against a dramatic cityscape backdrop) - certainly a great place to start our trip and a taste of Dubai not always on show.

Room Tip: If not booking direct on the hotel website, availability may appear to be limited - however, do not...

Dear Barb M.,

We love the title you give to your review. The description you gave about our hotel is so eloquent and fun, Just like we want our service to come across.

Many of our cafe visitors admire our vegetarian dishes, they say it is a sort of relieve from all the meaty menus most restaurants offering.

Should you have another assignment in Dubai, please contact me for your accommodation and for anything you might need to know about Dubai.

This lovely converted historic home offers comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts and lunch, and friendly, personal service. Located in the Al Fahidi district, it's a stone's throw from Deira, Bur Dubai, and the Dubai museum. For people who want something more than Disneyesque glitz most commonly associated with the Emirate, this is a great place to stay.

In a world where hotel chains prevail and little cultural authenticity is left, this hotel is a charming change. I had stayed in a number of hotels in Dubai before I discovered this hotel as a guest of Louis Vuitton for an art event. Since then I have been staying at XVA Art Hotel and look forward to coming back. The historic location is a nice retreat from busy Dubai and gives some insight into the history of the city. Despite the authenticity there is free wifi and all comforts necessary for a comfortable stay. Each room is differently decorated, contains original artworks and bath and shower are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is great and good, fresh food is available all day. In the evenings it is quiet and safe and the door is guarded and open all night. Iwan Yamin, the hotel manager and his team take special care of all the guests individually. It is nice to see him in the courtyard in the mornings talking to guests. The hotel is a bit far from other city hot-spots, but the comfortable metro system eases inner-city travel - Al Fahidi station is a five minute walk. For me it is a retreat after a busy day and I look forward to returning to XVA Art Hotel on my next business trip.

I stayed at XVA Hotel during my stay in the Emirates which I was visiting to take part in the various art events that take place in March. The hotel is in a charming historic location with courtyards and interesting little workshops and artist-led enterprises. It was a wonderful place to get ready for the day with a leisurely breakfast in the courtyard or on the roof terrace, and a calm place to relax at the end of a hectic day.

The hotel is clean and there is invariabley, interesting art to enjoy either from a current exhibition or the permanent collection.

What makes the place really great, however, is the extremely helpful staff. You really feel very looked after. Iwan Yamin the manager can speak several European languages and goes out of his way to ensure that you are well informed.

If you go in March you can also take advantage of the Sikka Art fair which takes place in the surrounding Bastikaya area. This fair is low key and charming with both visual art and music.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different and charming. Becuase I extended my stay twice, I had to change rooms a...
