We stayed at Castle in the Country for two nights in the wintertime. The house is really wonderful, a pale blue Victorian which is beautifully decorated inside. We liked the hostess very much, but only saw the host in passing (he does the cooking). The hostess was very helpful in assisting us to plan out a route for antiquing. She was also very familiar with restaurants in the general area. We went to a Mexican place she recommended and tried the corn soup she likes there; it was delicious. We stayed in the Rose Gazebo (not to be confused with the English Rose Suite). Decorated in burgandy, pink, black, grey, and green, it's the room at the top of the tower, and we loved it. The bathroom for this room is a little way down the hall. When I was there, the water pressure was very low in the shower; I have long hair, and it was quite a chore to get the shampoo rinsed off. My only other caveat is the amount of food. The breakfasts were adequate, but not big enough to sustain you until a late lunch. Each breakfast started with a muffin and included fruit. One morning there was stuffed French toast and two slices of bacon. The next morning there was a frittata and two links of sausage. The food was excellent. Specialty coffee packets were available to brew any time, for a small fee. I would also like to mention that the rooms were exceptionally clean. Little touches such as a nice variety of magazines in the room (for example, both sports and decorating) made this a place we hope to return to someday.

This is truly one of the best bed & breakfasts we have been too. All of the small details were in place so you could relax and feel pampered...my top favorites...wonderful, good quality bath salts (no dollar store skimping!), awesome coffee in the self serve (anytime!) snack room, wonderful breakfast, fluffy towels, a baggie to tote home their wonderful soap, the big soaking tub, the high quality linens...I noticed it all and appreciated it more than anything! If you need a getaway of any kind stay at the Castle!
