“Hike and bike to "secret valley"”
Reviewed 18 June 2014 via mobile

Had a terrible experience with joy ride on a one day tour, asked for and English guide, but he could hardly string a few sentences together. Our guide Govner had no safety awareness (I really want to highlight this as he really had no competent as a guide and poor English!!!) , his lack of knowledge about the area was astounding and at one point we feared he was lost! A girl on our group was totally physically unable for the excursion it he made no attempt to stick with or counsel her.. An overall disaster!!!

“Very poor”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

We took the bike and hike tour that joyride offered along with two friends. We were assured that the guide could speak good English. This wasn't the case, he had very poor English and didn't really guide us at all. At one stage he actually got lost!! There was also one girl on the trip who clearly wasn't able physically to do the activity which he dealt with very badly. I don't think the difficulty of the activity was explained to her when she booked the trip. This really took from our experience. I wouldn't recommend this trip.

“make sure the guide knows what you paid for”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We signed up and paid for the 4 hour quad and moto tour as we were excited to visit the Maragua Crater this way as opposed to going in a big hiking group. The cost for two of us (one on quad one on moto) was not cheap, at 1250/Bol or $175 ish USD. Unfortunately our guide took us on the 3 hour tour only, in the complete opposite direction. We took some dirt roads to the normal little town of Yotola, where we were told to walk around the plaza for ten minutes before following the identical route back. We were both confused about this route but assumed maybe it was our fault for misreading the tour schedule. Sure enough we returned (about 3.5 hours after we left joyride including time to get to and from the garage) and saw that the four hour tour does go to a completely different area.

Our guide was very friendly and answered questions when asked, but honestly there wasn't really anything to see on this three hour trip.If you've never been on back roads in a developing country it might be cool for you, but if you have then it isn't worth doing this length of tour. It was truly unremarkable.

We placed a complaint and the lady was very nice and offered a discount on a future tour with the company. After that experience and after cinsidering how expensive many of the other options were however, we didn't want to book another tour. Just be sure to double check with the guide that you'll be going where you think you are going!

“Rock climbing with Rosio Teran”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Rosio was a great guide who speaks both Spanish and English. She guided me, a complete beginner, through the various routes from easy to difficult. A great introduction to climbing!
