“Amazing Hotel, Very Old and Unique!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013

This is one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at. We stayed in a Suite on the 3rd floor at the back of the building and the views were incredible. The room was decorated with paintings and antique furniture - it was very elegant. There's even a museum in the basement, it was fun just roaming around the builing. The staff were helpful and the buffet breakfast was the best we've ever had. We felt like royalty. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Also, check out Abis Patio and Cafe restaurants in Sucre...we really enjoyed the food and service. The menu was well priced also.

I cannot believe that I would find the best hotel in Latin America in Sucre, Bolivia. This hotel was built in the 1600's but has all the modern conveniences of a newer hotel. The hotel has old world charm and the owner Luis's attention to detail is amazing. From the pictures on the wall to the antique furniture to the musuem in the lower level, the charm of the hotel is amazing. The hotel is big for a boutique hotel and it seems like every time I leave or go to my room I discover another part of the hotel I did not know existed. Be sure to ask for a tour of the hotel and make sure they bring you in the basement, it is really cool. The hugh rooms are appointed with king size beds, doors that open up to a faux terrace, desk and seating area. The bathrooms are modern with really strong water pressure which is lacking in most places in latin america. There is also a spa, gym, sauna, multiple jacuzzi's,business center, excellent breakfast buffet, etc. The owners are very friendly and personable. I foolishly arrived in Bolivia without long pants and being 6'8" it is impossible to find my size in Bolivia. The owner arranged for his driver to take me to a seamstress who made me custom pants and shirts in 1 day for $30 per pair! Thats incredible. They also provided altitude sickness pills for me when I was not adjusting well to the altitude and arranged for a day tour to Potosi. The best part about this hotel is the price, $75 a night and includes breakfast. In short I did not plan on coming back to Sucre originally but after staying in Parador Santa Maria, I will be back for sure.

Room Tip: We had a room in the back of the hotel and it was very quiet.

The hotel's colonial architecture, antique furnitings and unique attention to details made this place truly special. Our room was large and had a gigantic, comfy king-sized bed with a beautiful iron-scroll headboard and high-quality, fresh bed linens. There was a separate seating area with an antique marble table and chairs to accommodate the optional breakfast room service. The big bathroom had a relaxing high pressure shower, plenty of hot water, fluffy large towels and an assortment of toiletries. There were two sets of double antique doors in our room that opened to a small balconette and an awesome view of a beautiful colonial church tower who's bells softly chimed every 15 minutes. I felt transported back in time in this lovely hotel.

All of Santa Maria's rooms were located around small lovely courtyards. The carved wooden shutters & doors, curved staircases with wrought iron railings, mosiac tiles, and brightly painted columns & arches adorned with blooming vines added to the charm. Breakfast was yummy with made-to-order omelets and variety of fresh fruits. There were breads and cookies to nibble on as well but what we really enjoyed was sipping hot tea and listening to music before venturing out to explore the city. The hotel's location made for an easy walk to the main town square and there were a few shops and restaurants just a few feet from the hotel. We always felt safe and cared for while we were in Bolivia. Parador Santa Maria la Real was the perfect place to end our vacation in Bolivia... a relaxing oasis in a fascinating country of conflicts and contrasts.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel located in the central of Sucre Town. Walking distance to everywhere. It is a small hotel but I feel like I am in a 5 star hotel. I like my room, it is very beautiful. Free wifi in the Lobby. They provide good breakfast every morning and they send Chocolate to my room every evening. Hotel Staffs were very friendly. I am happy with their service. Excellent!

Room Tip: Request for a Room at 1st Floor, facing to the lobby. You can access free internet from the room.

The building has been lovingly restored, the rooms are large and furnished with period pieces, the beds huge (ours was a triple), giving a feeling of quality and style. Some rooms have baths.
Service was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent Hotel in old colonial Sucre. The lication is super and the building is stuning although some minor details has to be fixed.
The service is fairlly acceptable. The hotel is located in a remodelled colonial house. The owner is very polite. Breakfast is very good.
