“Best hotel in Bolivia!!”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

We stayed there 3 night because we couldn't believe how lucky we were to have found this hotel. Best shower in Bolivia, excellent breakfast, excellent bed. WiFi worked!! We were even able to use Skype!! Amazing. And the hotel is so beautiful, everything is finely decorated. The hotel is located in the center of Sucre. And the price was perfect for European standard. I would recommend this small luxury in Bolivia.

This magnificent hotel situated in the center of the prettiest colonial city of Latin America is run professionally and with heart by it's Executive Director Luis Pedro Rodriguez Calvo. He is always around with warm smile and takes care of business. His wife runs an equally professional travel agency next door.

The hotel is beautifully and tastefully appointed, has lovely courtyards with colonial furniture and in the basement a small but great little museum of indigenous and colonial artifacts. No effort and expense was spared to make this place as magnificent as it once was in colonial times.

Breakfast is served every morning by Jose and Dona Roberta will prepare any kind of eggs for you you wish. Fresh fruits from the market and incredible pastries adorn the breakfast buffet every day.

I spent a couple of nights here last year and when I returned this year for a longer stay I was welcomed back like a queen and made feel right at home.

The formal dining room may be used for banquets and up on the terrace a bar and small restaurant are in the making.

My room has a large terrace looking out over the wonderful white colonial buildings with red roofs and the Cathedral. From my bed I can see the tower of the cathedral.

While the morning air tends to be fresh in Sucre this time of year, it is a pleasure to take a hot shower with the bathroom window open also overlooking the old city.

I am a professional tour guide and this Hotel is among one of three favorites in the whole world.

Room Tip: The higher the better!

Stayed two nights, but days apart so different rooms. Like being in a private family villa. Beautifully appointed rooms - with lovely carved doors & furniture. Fascinating museum on lower level. Third level has intimate patio with city view. Bar makes the best pisco sour in Bolivia.

Stayed for 2 nights in this magnificent colonial townhouse. Lovely room, helpful staff and a great location. Views of the city from the top floor are fantastic.
The only drawback is that it can take a long time to get hot water in the morning.

Undoubtedly the most beautiful place to stay in Sucre - if not the whole of Bolivia!!

Come for a few days stay for a week!

From the moment you walk through the door off Calle Bolivar you are transported to a forgotten time. Comfort is stylishly blended with good taste and luxury. Modern conveniences and antiques sit side by side.

The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, punctuated with quirky touches, check out the hand basin housed in a sewing machine table!

Internet is high speed & reliable the Business Centre is well appointed & comfortable.

The only difficulty is deciding where to sit: the stunning rooftop terrace; the blue courtyard; or why not the jacuzzi overlooking the beautiful city of Sucre.

Check it out - i guarantee your only regret will be that your stay was too short!!

Don Luis - Lucho - is on hand to welcome his guests & ensure total satisfaction

If this isn't enough to tempt you: you won't pay more to stay here than in any other hotel in Sucre. If you are on a budget - face it we all are - this is the one worth spending just a couple of extra dollars on!!

if you want to enjoy a colonial atmosphere in a "casone" restored with taste and perfectly furnished, with a welcoming staff, this is your place.
The Plaza central is very close and one of the best museums (museos universitarios) in right in front.
The owner of the place will give you all explanations that you need.
For a beautiful view on the city, just go to the terrace.
I would come back there for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the 2nd or 3d floor for more light.

I really debated how to rate this hotel because I would not want you to miss it, but I want you to be prepared for the cold reception.

I know the manager reads these reviews so I hope something is done about training the staff. We are a senior couple, used to traveling to four- and five-star hotels around the world. We had a reservation and yet were made to feel totally unwelcome. We reasoned that we were too grubby, having just arrived from the Salar. However, reading the last two reviews shows that the way we were treated was the norm. By the time we finally got to our room, we were livid. Yet, the other staff were all so friendly and helpful and even the desk treated us better once we were registered guests, although they seemed somewhat overwhelmed by their jobs and unsure how to answer our questions.

Service aside, the hotel was one of the most beautiful we have ever stayed in, with gorgeous views, true colonial charm with real antiques and authentic finishes throughout, a sense of quiet and privacy, and an extraordinary breakfast buffet. We stayed in a Junior Suite on the top floor with multiple French doors, lace curtains for day and heavy drapes for night, a brick vaulted ceiling, antique bathroom vanity, wardrobes, and chairs, and--most importantly--a perfect King size bed with exceptional linens. The bathroom could use a little updating, but--on the whole--this was an experience which we will treasure in our memories.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for your overall nice review and rating. We are glad to know you liked our facilities.

Regarding the recepcionist, I am terribly sorry about his behavior. We are currently trying to solve that problem. All our staff received training to offer you the best possible service and we put in place a new customer service that should solve the issue. Please accept our sincere apology regarding this matter.

We hope to see you again soon if you are to come back to Sucre.
