Nice selection of tapas. Service with Chelsea was very good. She helped with the selections. It was our second visit. Will return.

Our second visit here and I'm just not impressed. We should have left the minute the server told me they were out of Cabernet Sauvignon. We ordered a couple of plates start. We know that are more like tapas so we fully expected to order a few more once we finished. The first was chorizo empanadas. I'm not sure what the meat was inside the empanadas, but it certainly was not chorizo. It resembled ground beef in color, texture and taste. The dish was described as 'mexican style', so we expected to have some spice, but it was just bland. The second appetizer was described as 'quail with cornbread stuffing and cranberry chutney', priced at $10.00. We received about a 3" quail leg on top of a thin slice of cornbread. Nothing danced about this dish either. We decided to cut our losses after those two dishes, paid the bill and went to a better restaurant to finish the meal. The interior of this restaurant is beautiful, but I won't be going back for any more food.

25 (ish) page drink menu and one small sheet food menu is really all you need to know about what a place concentrates on.
We remembered a much more extensive menu and server confirmed a big reduction in food offerings since 'we are more of a bar'
Drinks were inventive and reasonably priced.
The food is mostly small plate / appetizer fare. Our selection: green bean casserole, smoked cashews, Brussels sprouts were all very good and suitable bar food good for sharing.
What they do offer as 'mains' are sort of goofy: Pulled pork on huge slabs of sweet pecan cranberry French bread. or just a mess: burger with spam, pineapple smothered in runny coleslaw on a stubby pretzel bun. the thing was 6 inch round and 8 inch high. completely impossible to bite into, especially with cole slaw running down the sides.
sometimes chefs simply seem to be trying too hard...or being clever by half
speaking of trying too hard. server informed us that the chef doesn't cook meat to customer preference: like medium rare. all burgers are cooked medium well. apparently it is easier for him.....really?
go, but don't go if you want an full meal.

Went with some old friends from college. Great drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). The cheese and meat plate was fantastic. And the chicken dumplings are NOT to be missed. If I lived in Ann Arbor, this would be on my weekly rotation.

Have visited this restaurant dozens of times. The food is inventive, farm to table goodness, and even late at night (when the atmosphere shifts from restaurant to bar) it is carefully prepared and delicious. The cocktails are meticulously crafted and taken very seriously. Live jazz on Sunday, Wednesday, and I believe Thursday give this place a speakeasy vibe. Service is always excellent. Just want to give a shout out to TRC crew for being a Main Street asset.
