Nice on the whole if you are okay with the somewhat quirky owner. A bit intrusive despite what sign says in rooms. Love the dogs -- they are the best part. The bath and other parts of the master are grest other room are very small and have less charector Would only stay if others are booked.

My wife & I recently stayed two evenings at the Burnt Toast. We had a large & clean comfortable room & a comfortable bathroom with a big tub, & jazzy shower with plenty of fancy soaps & shampoo & the like. We were pretty busy with visits & fun in Ann Arbor but my wife & I both said that hanging out at the B&B would have been a nice option. Nice books, magazine etc. were plentiful & available. Breakfasts were pretty amazing. Everything seem to be fresh and available. Fresh juice, fruit salad, bowls of whole fruits, coffees & teas, yogurt & a variety of breads & cakes. Granola, cold cereal, hot oatmeal, eggs, bacon etc. etc. all seemed to be out & for your pleasure. I don't know how so many choices could be presented in a little B&B? A note about the dogs. They are big & friendly. Sarah, I think, carefully observed if her customers welcomed the dogs. We did but they weren't around or removed when it was inappropriate; during meals or if they seemed to be overly in need of attention. We liked the dogs & we were told about them before we arrived. Very convenient location.

We don't live far from Ann Arbor but wanted to stay when attending a birthday party. We needed just one night and Sarah was able to accomodate us even tho there are 2-night minimums on some rooms. You have to wait till Thursday to make sure the room is not booked to waive the minimum - I understand this - and happy she is accomodating.
We stayed in the Purple room which has a double bed. Its a small room but the bed is very comfortable. Perfect for our needs. The bathroom is just outside the bedroom and very nicely done. TIP - if you like larger, firmer pillows bring your own - or ask Sarah. I didn't realize this till too late to ask - so my mistake. All things you need are provided and there is a coffe station outside the bedrooms so you don't have to wander downstairs early in the morning.
Breakfast Sunday morning had all the options you could possiblly ask for. The sitting room is comfortable and the deco is fun. We had a nice chat with another guest while waiting for breakfast.
Recommend it as a place to stay.

Room Tip: Sarah has 2 BIG dogs - one a St Bernard the other not sure. Just know this. They are well behaved...

Stayed in the north room at the Washington St. address. The private bath with this room was quite nice with a lot of bath accessories. The owner told me she used to own an art gallery. This place shows it: carefully placed artwork all over the place. Very nice experience. Both Sarah the owner and Tim the house manager were extremely helpful and accommodating. Hope we can stay there again sometime.

Room Tip: The breakfast is served at the other location, two blocks away. However, we were given full use of t...

We had a couple of days in Ann Arbor after visiting Detroit for the Freep. The Burnt Toast Inn was splendid in every way - location, accommodation, food, welcome and dogs! Every detail in Sarah's house has obviously been given careful and imaginative thought which makes it extremely interesting as well as very comfortable. Our stay couldn't have been better.

We spent a wonderful three days at the Burnt Toast Inn in Ann Arbor while attending a wedding and festivities just a block away. The Inn is beautifully and very interestingly decorated, our room was large and comfortable (complete with a full bath -tub and walk in shower with double sprayers - and an external exit with a balcony), and Sarah was both a delightful host and a terrific cook. Her collection of paintings, posters, furniture, nick-knacks, artifacts, and trinkets kept us enthralled each morning as we breakfasted.

Besides being a perfect location for the wedding, it's just blocks away from downtown and Michigan Stadium - we had a nice short walk to the game on Saturday. Other members of our party were at the sister property just a few blocks away. That property is more traditionally decorated and has a kitchen that had the cooks in our group drooling.

And then there's Buddy and Bo (short for Bojangles), Sarah's humongous and very friendly dogs. We came in late each night to find Bo sprawled across the sofa and Buddy consuming the entire living room floor, neither even stirring. Both were welcome additions to breakfast each morning.

I can't imagine a better place to stay. Thanks Sarah!

Room Tip: Get the room upstairs on the right with the private bath and balcony

Location: The Burnt Toast Inn is in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of nearly all of Ann Arbor's restaurants, bars, and the campus itself. There is also free, ample parking.

The Hotel/rooms: Everything is quaint and extremely clean. There are plenty of tolietries, towels, and even slippers if you need. The bathroom is really clean and absolutely gorgeous.

Food: The breakfast all fresh and I think it as from Whole Foods, for those who care to know. Really good stuff!

The hosts: Really nice and accommodating, and very helpful in terms of pointing out good places to see/eat at.

PS: It runs about $135-140 per night for the room which has a full/almost queen bed.

Room Tip: The dogs there are great. That being said, if you're allergic, or canine-averse, it may not be t...
