“very dirty”
Reviewed 2 September 2011

I stayed here with my boyfriend and we were very excited. As we were pulling in we saw the front desk host smoking outside and she just looked at us and as we walked inside, she didn't come in until she finished her smoke and then proceeded to help us but of course she did not wash her hands. Then we got into our first room and it was very dirty. There was so much hair in the bathtub and sinks, there was a sticky white stain on the comfortable and stuff stuck on the tables. So they were great about upgrading us into another room however that room wasn't any cleaner. The bathroom floor was covered in hair and dirt. They were very helpful and our room was quite but very dirty hotel. We didn't even dare to go close to the pool because it was very green and cloudy which is pretty sad since its in the center of the hotel. i loved the layout

In short - the manager took no responsibility for his change in policy (no longer allowing dogs). It was simply, you can't stay here. No compensation, no paying the difference between staying there and another place. Total indifference.

This hotel was "pet friendly" when I booked 4 weeks before our scheduled stay. We
mentioned the dog and made sure the room type we booked allowed dogs. We show up at 5:00 pm, mention our need to pay the dog fee and they said "we don't take dogs anymore".

The clerk spoke directly with the manager 3 times to see what help they could give us regarding finding another hotel.

The manager took no responsibility and cared not if we found another place. I had booked using "points" so it was "free"; Using their phone I explored options, the Hampton Inn quoted a price of $209 (not exactly in our budget). After a half hour on the phone we got the last "points" room at the Comfort Inn (which had great staff & rooms).

If he runs his hotel in any way similar to his treatment of us, beware.

I was quite impressed with this property. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The pool was great. There was a pleasant event going on in one of the meeting spaces. The bar located inside the restaurant made great tasting drinks. My internet access also worked well. All and all. Job well done.

stayed for two nights w/ family of four, room was okay -- clean, fridge, micro, coffee, and decent tv. breakfast was very good for price, hot food, attentive/courteous attendant. but common areas overall were in desperate need of attention. dirty carpets, run down feel. hotel is expansive and we were in back section, easy access through banquet entrance, but had smoking bench right outside, had to navigate through clouds of smoke most in/out trips. overall, it was a cheap place to rest our heads, but only bec/ we spend very little time on site.

Room Tip: some rooms overlook interior atrium or pool

We stayed in this hotel last fall and there were some problems, starting with the window on our room being wide open on a very cold day. We booked it again because of the amenities and the location and hoped for the best.

This hotel is under new management since our last stay and the change in attitude and competence shows. I had some questions about things and Rachel, who was working the front desk late at night, patiently answered all of them and was very helpful. I also asked here about the change in ownership and she said that virtually all of the staff was new since our last stay.

There was a problem with our air condition on check-in. This was not urgent since it was not hot the evening we arrived. It was fixed and working great while we were out the next day. This prompt attention to a problem made me think that things were improving at this hotel. Here are some other specific comments.

Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast is awesome. There were scrambled eggs daily and either sausage and bacon. Three of the four days there were also biscuits and gravy which were excellent. There was also fresh fruit, cold or hot cereal, cook-your-own waffles, coffee (a nice dark roast) and juice. There was syrup, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate toppings for the waffles as well as whipped cream. There was also a wide assortment of pastries. Ivan (I got his name from Rachel) was in charge of breakfast and was very attentive in keeping it stocked, clean, and looking good. I also noticed him helping some Sr. citizens with their food.

Rooms: The room was pretty standard for a Choice property. Ours looked and cleaned when we checked in. Their was a safe that was large enough for two laptops which was a nice and not-standard touch. The in-room coffee worked well. Our room had a sofa, fridge, microwave, and a desk with a comfy chair.

Amenities: The pool, sauna, and hot tub were all awesome. The cash bar in the large lobby area was also open this time. I never saw it open last time. The bartender was very congenial. The wifi login was simple. It was typical hotel wifi and not overly speedy. This property has a huge common area in the middle of the property..

The common areas showed some attention cleaning and some upgrades since our last visit. The hallway on our floor was clean but could use new carpet. This sort of thing is the only reason for getting four stars instead of five. I assume that the process that has begun to make a positive difference in the property will eventually get around to this as well.

Room Tip: I always use the Choice Hotels website. It works for me. Your mileage may vary.

We stayed here for a family wedding. Out of 10 rooms booked 6 had coffee and cups but no coffee maker, one had a broken coffee maker 3 had coffee makers with no carafe. We were told that housekeeping was busy come get it yourself!
The carpet in our room was filthy, disgusting stains on the floor, walls and ceiling. The bathroom door did not close. Out of 10 rooms 6 reported very slow draining sinks.
Next time we come to town we will not stay here. Gross.
