I would never recommend this hotel again. My family & I booked 4 rooms for 3 days as we came to Ann Arbor to attend the Winter Classic. For the amount of money that we spent I expected a little more, perhaps that was my mistake from the beginning. The walls in this hotel are paper thin! The first night the people downstairs "fell asleep" with their television on full blast. After complaining at 3:30 in the morning, we succeeded in obtaining another room. This was the one & only time that I found the staff to be helpful. The decor looks like you are sitting in your grandparents basement, a huge throwback to the 60's. Actually their basement would look nicer. The curtains in each of the 4 rooms my family stayed in were not hemmed & hanging on the floor, some were hanging off the track. Our balcony door was opened when we checked in, there were 2 empty beer cans on top of the microwave from the people who had previously stayed that the cleaning staff did not take. Mold in the corners of the bathroom & room. Huge stains on carpet. One day while out we had an emergency situation & were trying to reach others that had returned back to the hotel. The front desk staff would either answer the phone & put you on hold (never coming back to inquire) or not pick up at all. The recording on their machine indicates for you to call their main reservation line if you are having difficulty getting through, which we & were more than willing to provide us with the number of the hotel, the same number that we could not reach a human being on. We ended up making it back to the hotel before we could reach someone at the main desk & when we arrived I understood why. The clerk was outside smoking a cigarette, discussing with his friend on his cell phone, his recent purchase of 60 dollars. The front desk staff was totally overwhelmed at check out time, I would like to point out that there was 1 person in front of me, so not extremely overwhelming from my point of view. While waiting for check out another guest called the front desk to ask apparently for more toilet paper, they were advised to go & find the maid that was cleaning in their hallway. After some obvious persistence on the guests part, the front desk staff finally relented & told them that they could come up to the front to get some. At no point was an offer made for someone to deliver it to their door. For the 166/night we paid I expected far more; clean rooms & friendly staff.
I find it hard to believe that Days Inn would continue to franchise this property. Although not horrible, the hotel is old, smelly and in need of updating and general maintenance. Doors off hinges, drapes off hooks and loose bathroom tile are things that can easily be fixed but seem to be over-looked. The next time I see "Days Inn", I will think of this property and choose something else. Although it was during the Winter Classic, the rate of $189.00 for this place was excessive.
Dirtiest hotel I've ever been to. Toilet backed up everytime it was flushed. Comforter had cigarette burn holes. TV had no channels that were not blurry. Manager was rude and unhelpful. There were bullet holes in the door jam of one room. Scary and disgusting.
The hotel was alright but the only thing was that there was no iron in the room nd when you called the front desk they told you that you had to get it -_-
