This is a great historic hotel in a small town on the St. Croix River. The staff was especialy friendly and helpful. The room on the second floor had a nice balcony looking toward the river. Their casual restaurant was busy and had a lot of energy. The formal dining was excellent. The Swirl Wine Bar was a pleasant surprise. We had the Romance Package and the rose petals, champagne, etc. made it special. We will return.

Seocnd time we've stayed there. First time several years ago was much better all around. Used a Groupon this time for half price which is all I would pay now. Dining room food was just OK, service was sporadic. Wine bar was quite popular but VERY noisy making it hard to hold a conversation. Room TV in sitting area didn't work-took two requests to get someone to fix it. Bathroom faucet dripped and you could hear jacuzzi noise from other rooms ALL night long!

Beautfiul room on 2nd floor. Two queens size beds in different rooms! Very clean, nice furnishings. Rose petals all over the bed. View of the quaint main street. Deck access to the back with marina/river view. GREAT food. Lots of wonderful wine choices. Our 3rd time. The old part of the Inn is historic and fun to stay in as well. Swirl Wine Club have fireplace, comfortable sofa & chairs along with other seating. Current Restaurant has great farm to table food at great prices. Sit outside of Swirl around one of the two firepits. Ahhhhh.

Room Tip: If you like historic buildings, stay on original 1800's side. Other wing has newer rooms on two...

Old historic hotel in a nice little river town. Our room was very nice, whirlpool and fireplace. We wandered down to the Swirl wine bar which was very enjoyable, and ate in the Current restaurant/bar which had great food and wonderful service. Would definitely return.

We did not stay there, but had family that did, and we visited them there several times over the weekend. We really enjoyed Swirl, the wine bar. Nice, casual atmosphere and good whites. Okay on the reds.

We ate twice at Current and had one great experience, one very odd one. The food is good, but the second time we went was Saturday night. It took close to an hour after sitting before we were served the beverages we ordered. Close to an hour and a half before any food showed up. Our server was a bit odd, and was giving different stories as to the delay. To one table, it was a sous chef that didn't show up. To us, it was a very small kitchen, too small to handle three establishments. Interestingly, the food was lukewarm when we finally go it, so actually wonder if she wasn't part of the problem. So not knocking the place that much for the wait. However, the food was very good.

One thing that was absolutely wonderful, is how gluten-free friendly the restaurants are. While we had that one odd experience with the server, it was so welcome for my son who has celiac disease.

It is not 4 star hotel, only 2 star hotel in my opinion...comparable to Motel 6. The exterior/interior of the building including furniture need lots of improvements. I did not feel relaxed like being on vacation. There is nothing to do in this tiny town and no river view either. There is only one ice creme shop, two small antique shops, and one restaurant in town which are next to the hotel. You would be very disappointed if you had come a long way just to stay at this place. I purchased a one night stay from Groupon.com since it was advertised as "the most romantic hotel". After arriving at the hotel, we both could not believe our eyes of how it looks outside...it looks so unattractive. We did not even want to go inside...wanted to go back home instead. But since we already paid for it, we decided to give it a try. The carpet in the room is old and dirty, the paint on the wall is peeling, the jacuzzi is old and took forever to fill up. The water was not so warm. There was no enough water pressure in the shower room. I could not wait to get home. It was not worth my money at all.
