“superb hotel and spa”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

We have just returned from a week at the hotel. It totally surpassed all expectation (which was high to start with). My husband and son took full advantage of the tennis facilities and I spent most of my time in the spa / pool - which also has a gym - It was wonderful and to a very high standard. My 13 year old son also went for his first skiing lesson which was fairly close by.
The staff are all incredibly friendly and the food was exceptional. We all thoroughly recommend this fabulous place.

Can not say enough great things about this place,it is the most hospitable, relaxing and friendly enviroment I have ever had the chance to see! You must go and experience it for your self! The herbarium and indoor/out door pool has the most wonderful veiws ever. We had a massage and relaxed outdoors. The staff is freindly and accomadating. I don't think you could pick a bad room, they each have their own caracter and are very clean A mix of traditional and ultra modern was amazing! The word awesome comes to mind when I releft back on our experience .

Room Tip: there is not a bad room in the house. If you play tennis this is a must do ! Thanks to everyone here...

This is the second year we visit Tennis hotel Wolfgangsee. Last year was a great succes and we were afraid it could not be better. But we were wrong ! New fantastic Hebarium with amazing sauna area, relaxing rooms and new indoor and outdoor pool was added for an even better stay. Even the food seem better (watch out, the weight easily goes up, with all the temptations).
Fantastic tennis trainer Rhys and Carl are supplemented by two younger coaches, who also knows their tennis. The place is very efficiently run and maintained by the Hinterberger family and any little question or help needed is always promptly taken care of by Connie. The bartender Stefan was amazing and super service minded. He really made a difference and was great at mixing drinks.... We can't wait to go back and have only good things to say about the place. Unfortunately we didn't see much of the surroundings in the nature as we were 5 people playing tennis at different times and had difficulties coordinating trips. From other guest we could understand there are lots to see and explore - another good reason to come back. Sooner than later.

The wonderful reviews for this perfect hotel are all true. I have just returned from a week with my husband and two teenage children. The location is beautiful, the food delicious, the tennis coaching very impressive, the spa wonderful but most of all the staff most of whom are from one family do everything to ensure you have a brilliant holiday. Chatting to other guests we are all returning next year as do many of their 70% returning clients, they do not need to pay agents.

The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from St Wolfgang among the lakes and mountains. We hired a car and drove from Salzburg Airport in an hour.(Car hire 1 week £130 VW polo) Our room was a basic double with ensuite shower. The room was clean and had a balcony looking on to the lakes and mountains. The three indoor tennis courts are inside the main hotel building, the coaching program which was part of my package took place in this hall. The hotel had opened a new spa which includes a small indoor and a slightly larger outdoor pool both of which are heated. The spa includes a number of relaxation room and beauty treatment rooms as well as an extensive sauna and steam room complex which is open from 3-7 daily. This is a nude area although their is a family sauna as well.

The half board included a good continental breakfast and a five course dinner in the evening. To vary things a BBQ grill was arranged for one night and on the Saturday night a kitchen party was organised. The food was excellent.

My wife took one of the spa packages whilst I played tennis.

The area offers plenty of walks and sightseeing. Car hire makes this easy and allows a return for dinner at 7pm.

The guests were mainly from Austria Germany and Switzerland with the majority playing tennis as part of their holiday.

Room Tip: Car hire is a good idea. Try to get your tennis times and spa times co ordinated so that you have h...

Superb hotel! Friendly, spotlessly clean, gourmet food, incredible views. We genuinely couldnt have asked for more and highly recommend it to anyone. I am incredibly picky about my hotels and I am not sure I can find even one fault. Recommend getting a car though as if it rains you are pretty much stuck at the hotel or local village and taxis are very expensive in the area.

We are a family of 4, 2 booking the tennis and 2 not. The tennis players enjoyed the coaching - my 14 year old son hadn't played much before but obviously wouldn't have felt comfortable in a group of very young children. The coaches clearly appreciated that and put him in a group with boys about his age. We do not speak German but this wasn't a problem as the mainly South African coaches all speak English. Coaching was an hour and a half each day - the time varying each day for 5 days and then a tournament on the 6th day. There were also evening options for those who wanted - mixed doubles tournament for eg. It was free to play at other times both indoors and outdoors so we played as a family most days (they have racquets and balls you can borrow if needed). The room was spotlessly clean and the fitttings all very new. The hotel put an extra bed in the room at no extra charge so the kids could have a bed each. The meals each evening were very good. There was a children's option available which was good as it meant there was a safety net if the 14 year old didn't like what was on offer on the main menu but in fact other than being tempted by pizza one night he chose from the adult menu. Guests were mainly German and Austrian with a few English. Beautiful location. About a 15 min walk to St Wolfgang - longer on the way back as its uphill! Our room was on the side of the hotel. Best views from the rooms facing the front so if you have the option request one of these. There is an arrangement with the camping at the bottom of the hill so you can swim in the lake from there which we did one day - very cold but a great experience with the mountains around you. We had a car but even without out one it would be possible to visit various villages around the lake by using the ferries from St Wolfgang.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel have the best view
