“Great location, right in the middle of village”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

We stayed in Hotel Zimmerbrau for 4 nights. The village is absolutely stunning, cobbled streets, beautiful architecture, relaxed atmosphere - we could definitely stay longer!
The hotel is very clean, rooms are comfortable and spacious.
There was no kettle and tea/coffee in the room (something I'm not used to, but apparently common in Austria), so that was the only drawback - but the hotel is lovely!
Very friendly and helpful hosts and staff.
Thank you!

Hotel Zimmerbrau is in a great location in the heart of St Wolfgang, we met the receptionist in the evening (whose name we unfortunately never caught) and she was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, giving us a great welcome. We were then shown to our room which was very comfortable with a fantastic (and huge) shower!

While Zimmerbrau wasn't the cheapest option in Austria it was definitely the right choice and was a great base in a lovely little town.

Stayed one night in this cute hotel in the centre of St.Wolfgang. The receptionist (blonde young girl) was really nice and friendly. The parking area was nearby. We had a room in the 2nd floor with a balcony that had a great view to the mountains! The room was spacious with a separate toilet and a shower. The town is small and the hotel is within walking distance from everywhere.

The reason I am giving only 3 stars is that we wanted to have breakfast, and in our booking it said that it costed 14e (we assumed that was for 2 persons), and then at check-out it was per person.

Room Tip: the rooms that have balconies towards the lake and the mountains.

The Hotel Zimmerbräu, in the heart of the lovely village of St. Wolfgang, was an ideal choice for our small group in September 2012.

The location is perfect, the public rooms are extensive and comfortable, and the guest rooms are spacious, nicely equipped and spotlessly clean. It's evident as soon as you enter the hotel that this family-run inn is very well managed.

My room, no. 319 (a single for me, but could accommodate two) was quite roomy and boasted a small terrace overlooking the village's main street. The decor is pleasantly rustic, with white walls and knotty pine paneling. The bathroom was spacious as well, with plenty of cupboard space for toiletries.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best we'd seen, with eggs cooked to order and a variety of pastries, fruits and juices, and heartier fare such as meat, cheese and vegetables. The coffee was strong and plentiful.

The Zimmerbrau boasts a comfortable restaurant with copious main courses in the range of 10-14 euros – very good value. An elevator is available.

An added bonus: a coin washer and dryer are available (2 euros to wash, 2 euros to dry).

Do be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning, meaning you'll want your window open in warm weather. There is some noise in rooms facing the street (occasional cars at night and loud talking, or even singing, from bands of partying young people). The bells of the town church, quite nearby, also chime all night (on the quarter hour). Rooms facing away from the street are quieter, though you'll still hear the bells.

This is my second stay at the Zimmerbräu and I'm hoping to come back for St. Wolfgang's Christmas Market someday soon.

The hotel is situated in the centre of St Wolfgang, right next to the church. It is not directly on the lake but there is a bathing area on the lake belonging to the hotel about 5 minutes walk. There is parking across the street in a garage which you can pay for or park for free on the roof. The room we stayed in was very spacious, and had a tv, balcony and two single beds pushed together as a double. They were very clean (except we noticed some hairs on the bedding). My only down fall with this room was that it did not have air conditioning, and the days which we stayed were very warm (around 30 degrees c) and so we had to keep the balcony door open to let the cool air in, but this of course meant being woken up at all hours of the night from the noise outside (the church bells ringing every fifteen minutes and the garbage men especially) We also had some trouble connecting to the wireless. And if i'm being really picky there was also no fridge in the room to keep our drinks cool. But other than that the hotel was good. Its quite homely and the decor might not be to everyones taste. St Wolfgang itself is beautiful, the lake is very blue and clear!

We stayed at Hotel Zimmerbrau for one week from saturday 16th to Saturday 23rd July 2012. We were a family group of 29 ranging in ages from 3 to 78 years old. Like any large group we can be complicated but all complications were dealt with in a friendly and professional manner by our fantastic hosts, Alexandra and Hans. I have not stopped recommending both St.Wolfgang and our hotel since I returned to England. St.Wolfgang is a beautiful town in a beautiful setting. The hotel is in a perfect location. There are hills in the town but the hotel is the flat central part, which made it easier for the older members of our group. The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast and evening meals were without fault. Alexandra and Hans could not have done any more for us. Their service was beyond what I would normally have expected or have received from other hotels in the past. There is also so much to do in the town and the area, a week is not enough.
We also hired the boathouse and this was one of most amazing and beautiful places I have stayed. You wake up in the morning to be confronted by breathtaking scenery. We had a memorable holiday. When we arrange large family holidays the hardest part is deciding where to go. That is no longer a problem, we will return to St.Wolfgang and hopefully stay in the wonderful Hotel Gasthof Zimmerbrau. There cannot be a better hotel in St.Wolfgang.

Room Tip: You have to experience the boathouse.

This hotel's location is central to everything in St. Wolfgang. We stayed here 5 days and for 2 days we didn't take our car out of the garage across the street because there was no need. St. Wolfgang is a great place for sight-seeing in the Salzkammergut area though which we did the other days. The hotel is homey in a good way with a large comfortable lounge with free afternoon teas available. We chose a larger room with a balcony that gave us a gorgeous view of the mountains and the changing colors of the lake. The bathroom was very large, clean and provided little extras often missing in European hotels. The wifi didn't work that well when we first arrived, but was rectified when we spoke to the manager about it. It was still spotty but mostly reliable.

The breakfasts were great. Imagine going into your own fridge or pantry to choose just about anything you wanted. For Canadian in Germany, that has not been our experience on this vacation, but we had the choice of omelettes, bacon, sausages, even toast! Of course there are all the European offerings as well, cold meats and a variety of cheeses, cereals, fruits. There is even cake!

The service was helpful and attentive. We don't understand the negative reviews about this hotel. We had a wonderful time and even though the weather was not good while we were there were, we were sorry to leave.
