We having been going to Sandy Point for 15+ years and always totally enjoyed
our dining experience.
After tonights meal, the 6 of us will never go there again.
I made reservations 2 1/2 weeks in advance and asked for a window table.
When we got there the hostess said our reservation had been cancelled.
(Not by us!)...no window, almost no table!
The new ownership has changed the portions of all meals.
We always order the King baked stuffed lobsters and
lazy lobster, both portions were significantly smaller at the same high price. Which in the past we were fine with because- we got what we paid for. Not anymore!
The stuffing on the lobsters was very dry with not much seafood at all.
The baked stuffed mushrooms with "seafood stuffing" was a huge disappointment because again it was dry with 2 dried up morsels of some seafood.
The salad portions were so small and tasteless. The vegetable of the
day was peas. We were very dismayed to have them serve canned peas! With a
$30. & $40. meals canned peas? Really?
The waitress was harried and clueless. She was pleasant enough, just not very well
trained. The bartender made a huge mistake by serving a manhattan on the rocks
in a martini glass with a few chips of ice!
The strawberry shortcake's biscuit was way smaller than they use to be too!
Very, very disappointing!

Sandy Point is a vacation tradition for us and we go for the lobster!!! We are a group of 7 with 4 adults, 2 young adults and 1 child. It was nice to see that the interior had been freshened - new paint, new flooring and new fabric on the benches in the lobby - the overall look remains the same and we were happy for that. We called a few days ahead to make a reservation and they were happy to help us out with that...we always request the back room - with a view of the lake - STUNNING! As others have stated the Wine List is updated with more selections, but for the most part we get mixed drinks from the bar and they are always yummy! Our dinner...hot rolls arrive a the table shortly after we sat down, they are steaming hot, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside delicious with a little butter and a perfect start for a hungry crowd who spent the day on the beach. The salads are served in traditional wooden bowls - it is a nice size salad that is fresh! Three people got the Lobster Casserole - filled with fresh lobster, Ritz Cracker/seafood stuffing and butter...who could resist? I have it every year and I love it!!! 2 got 1 & 1/4 lb boiled lobster - again fresh, hot and yummy. 1 got chicken parm. - a huge serving over linguini (I did not taste it, but it got a good review) finally 1 got Mac & Cheese - its Kraft (or close) and the person who ordered it loved it but if you are looking for FANCY MAC & CHEESE this is not it! But for a child who wants exactly that - it is perfect! No dessert for us - too stuffed after all that lobster. Amber has been our server for many years and it is always nice to see a familiar and welcoming face - happy to see us back again! In additions the bathrooms were renovated as well - yeah! A delicious meal with great friends!

We all enjoyed our meals, was better than our previous visits in the past .., good excellent service great & I enjoyed the new wine list , finally a better choice of wines .. Can even use more selections of white but at least I can get a decent glass of wine now & I like the expanded menu & upgrades to decor, was much needed ..

The food is awful. Plane and simple. The only edible item was the mint candy on the way out. Veggie burger was some type of hockey ouch. Baked haddock was breaded with a little fish. Kids meal were over price small bowls of spaghetti. The "veggie of the day" looked like it was on the steamer all week. In edible broccoli.
I am not exaggerating when I say you would be better off with a loaf of wonder bread and some Jif and jelly.
The atmosphere dates back to the early 70s. Ugh!

They use frozen meats that is tasteless sirloin and the seafood combo was $26 for 9 pieces of scallops and shrimp, yes $3 per fried piece! What a ripoff this place really. Go to pops or Shipley's for much better food.
