“The definition of a cozy bar atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

My favorite apres-hike or apres-ski bar in NH. Lots of antique charms and great food. The the couch and comfy chair sitting areas are great for a group, and the bar is great for watching a game. I loved the fact that you can order snails; no joke, the baked escargots are delicious! I've been coming here for over a decade and am looking forward to more.

“Unexpected Delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2013

I could see that the Common Man was a group of restaurants so I expected a more Chain like atmosphere. Ashland NH did not have a lot of local restaurants near us. But we were more than pleasantly surprised. There is actually a cheese and cracker bar for diners who have to wait to be seated or want a snack before dinner arrives. The building we were told was an older store that was extended to a barn on the grounds. Very rustic and New England. Lots of antiques , old wooded beams, etc. Dinners include bread salad and the entree prices from $15 to MP. The portions are probably enough for two people especially if you want to share a dessert. One entree was the stuffed Chicken breast. A panko encrusted breast over stuffing with a light gravy, butternut squash and choice of potato. The other entree was schnitzel of pork - 2 large pieces was quite more than expected. On the negative side the salad which had very good dressing, was the kind that comes from a bag and I can always tell by the taste or aftertaste, which I don't like. Didn't have room or need for the dessert and we took half of each meal home for another time. Total for dinner with one drink, no coffee or tea $50 some dollars. We will definitely look for other Common Man restaurants while in New England. Excellent waiter, general service.

“Very good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2013 via mobile

Deceptive from the outside it is deceptively large. Our server Dylan was very friendly & efficient. The food was very good and if like us you go on Wednesday the wine is half price. So we had a good bottle of wine at a very good price , the meal would have been worth it even without the discount on the wine. The white chocolate at the end was a pleasant treat for my wife and rounded of a very pleasant dining experience.

“Fun and Friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013

We had a fun evening at The Common Man. We ate in the Bar & Grille, and had the prime rib sandwich, "almost escargot" appetizer, and lobster corn chowder. It was enough that we shared everything. We had the friendliest, most efficient waitress and all the staff we encountered seemed to be having as much fun as we were. The food was fabulous.

“We keep coming back.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2013

We look forward to a dinner here any time we're in town. The atmosphere is quaint, price reasonable and best of all, they offer a half portion before 6:00 (they're flexible) at half price. When first seated, we were offered a plate of crackers and spreads which we had to be careful not to fill up on. They were good! The salads were a bit of a disappointment because the lettuce was basic iceberg and it was turning brown but the bed basket consisted of homemade rolls and quick bread Service was fine and the food tasty. At the end of the meal everyone is given a few pieces if their famous white chocolate. Couldn't be much better..
