I was rather disappointed in the overall experience at the Novotel Orisha Cotonou. The service was ordinary, the facilities dated and rather dirty, the rooms ordinary - with poor airconditioning, poor TV, poor internet/WiFi, and completely overpriced ($200 per night - for no more than 2 star quality). As a business hotel, connectivity is key - and the Novotel internet was very slow and intermittent.

The food was drab and uninspiring (breakfasts) and the buffet lunch (at $30) was limited and unexceptional. All in all, I would suggest looking at a better value alternative.

Service was friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms clean and beds comfortable. Airconditioning and wifi signal strength in the rooms could do with an upgrade though.

Breakfast was reasonable and one can order fresh fried eggs or omelettes from the waiting staff.

Nice poolside area.

Room Tip: Rooms 315 and 317 have balconies overlooking the pool and ocean.

Novotel Cotonou is the extreme of 2 things; on one hand the rooms are crappy, carpet full of stains, paint coming off left and right; on the other hand the warm approach by the staff keeps me bringing back here. Service in Africa is hard to find, but here there is always a smile. Never quick service but still. This makes that the price - quality report is out of balance.

Room Tip: If you can see through the general state of the room, considering it 'a place to sleep and shower only'then you are fine

There were some cockroaches, the airco was poor in the rooms, all the furnishings were tired. The staff was on the other hand, very friendly. Reasonable breakast buffet. For 114,000 cfa, b&b, about 20% too expensive.

Quick service for check in past midnight, airport pick up & drop off free of charge (even late flights)

Clean & modern room. Friendly cleaning staff.

The site (hotel compound) is beautiful, had a pool, garden, parking (free) and is shared with another Accor hotel (Ibis). There is a gate and security guards 24/7 to avoid unwanted characters. Significant setback from the street for security & noise matters.

Cable tv with French and American channels. Wifi throughout hotel.
