“Not worth the visit”
Review of Fidjrosse Beach

Fidjrosse Beach
Ranked #4 of 20 things to do in Cotonou
Attraction details
Reviewed 9 September 2013

I am born in cotonou but lived a broad for more than 20 years. I decide to visit on my 25th birthday. The town is terrible to drive in with all the taxi moto. That beach? No point going there. I dont see the point. There are plenty of nice hidden beach in the country. drive along the coast on the road to lome in Togo. Afer or around the town of Grand Popo stop in any of the village and enjoy the quietness of some clean beach. You can even get the local fisherman to provide you with fresh fish. It take a little talk to get it fried by any woman in the village to perfection. How much will it cost you? NothibNothing. Benin people are the lovliest in west Africa

Cotonou is the business capital of Benin. For relaxation point of view you can visit beaches mainly on weekends, there are few good beached near Fidjrosse area. You can find few small restaurant for drinks and snacks. You can eoither hire taxi or bike to go there. The max amount for bike charge will be around 400-500 CFA and it may come down depend on how good you bargain.

Benin has loely beaches. This especailly is clean unlike other west african states. No one really disturbs you except that francophone west africans are polite and would hardly walk past without a brief ''bonjour''. Calm and good to walk on in the mornings.

Security is not good and the sand is dirty, also to get there, depends on where you are, you have to "prevent" studying better the way to do it.

benin is an ok country but its beaches are an hazard. not only if would be very unsafe to go there after dark but the simple act of swimming is strongly non advisable. the undertows are so strong that i have seen even very good swimmers in serious distress. avoid if you have kids at all costs. on the other hand all along the beach runs a beautiful coconut lined road that will make your SUV work. again, never stop along the way. just drive from cotonou the 'la port de non retour' and stop.
