“So unique and amazing views”

We stayed in the Sky suite and LOVED it. At night, we took a bottle of wine back to the room from the restaurant, turned off the lights and watched the stars through the huge ceiling windows above (and saw two shooting stars). It was a magical night and we would've stayed at least another day if we could. The owner Martin is soooo nice and included breakfast in the price of the room (without us asking)!

Las Olas is a collection of individually-designed cabins on the hill overlooking Copacabana and Lake Titicaca. Ours - room 6 - was stunning, with a round bed and huge windows. It was also HUGE, which is unusual for Bolivia.

The bathroom was fab, with a double shower too.

A couple of negatives (not criticisms as such, more stuff to bear in mind):
- it's up the hill, and on many levels, so difficult to get in/out with lots of luggage (as we had)
- there's no phone in the room, so if you need anything you need to go to reception (which doesn't sound that onerous, but is if you're not acclimatised to the altitude)

At $38 per night this place was an absolute bargain, however. I wish we'd stayed longer to enjoy the views.

We stayed here for 3 nights and then another 2 nights at La Cupula which is next door and owned by the same people. We prefered La Cupula, feeling it was a bit better run.
But the cabins at Las Olas are wonderfully original and have the most amazing views over the lake. The one we stayed in (Unit One) also had a fridge and small stove, which was great. Children enjoyed having their own space upstairs.

This is - without doubt - THE place to stay in Copacabana! Lonely Planet will not tell you to much to not spoil the surprise... and neither will I! BUT: the (now) 6 rooms/apartments are all individual and different! They have the best showers you will get in Bolivia -- plenty of hot water and pressure! The views are stunning! Stay there and you will not regret it! There is no restaurant but the neighbour La Cupula is close...

This is an unusual hostal with four or five units. Location is its primary attribute on a hill overlooking the harbor of Copacabana, a rather unattrcative, crowded touristy town.

Our apartment was spacious and comfortable with plenty of hot water in the bath. No meals are available but at Las Olas' sister hotel, La Cupula close by, we dined for breakfast and dinner. The hot plate was handy for coca tea preparation.

Service was a bit spotty but when Luis is on duty things function. Thy did a load of laundry when we were away for a day at Isla del Sol. But due to rainy weather, some of the clothes were not dry. Not really the hostall's fault.

Las Olas has the best views in the town and made our stay in Copacabana.

The attention to detail in each chalet is fantastic and most of the wooden furniture is made by the owner.

The only problem was the length of the beds. My partner and me are both tall and this was a problem for us, however I still loved our stay there,

Our chalet had a log fire (that the staff set up ready for use every day), hammocks in our front garden area and the use (for a small charge) of the hot tub.

All in all we had a great stay and have recommended it to others since, who have also stayed and loved it. Its a must if you are visiting Copacabana.

Las Olas is perhaps the most impressive "hostel" you'll ever see- stayed in two different cottages and were amazed at how impressive the buildings were, especially the GIANT bed and fantastic bathrooms. Martin and his staff really go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. If you do to Isla de la Sol and want to do the walk across the island, be sure you ask Martin as he gives you a very good map and overview. Would recommend this place to anyone going to Copacabana; although it's one of the more expensive places in town (a mere $38USD per night), it is worth spending that little bit extra to get something really special. Hot water is very reliable.

Dear tourist, hostel "Las Olas" is placed on a hill side over looking lake Titicaca. From any of the seven suites you have a marvellous view over the bay and the lake. You have spacious gardens with hammocks and deck chairs on the different terraces leading down the hill side. On our grounds you can use a fire place and we have several stone tables and benches to eat outside to enjoy the views. For those who love plants and flowers, you will find an enormous variety of predominantly local species. All suites have been individually designed, using as many natural and local materials as possible and respecting traditional ways of construction. They provide a maximum comfort and you will find many artistic details for the eye. From your living room area, from your bed and almost from any point of your room you have a perfect view of the lake through the huge window fronts. Each suite is provided with a small kitchen unit, private bath an inside hammock and a fireplace. There is also a little electric heater for your use We do a big effort to work very ecological. The cabins are built with a complete heat insulation of polystyrene inside the roof, as well as in the walls below the facade. We preheat the water with big solar panels and than feed it into the electric boiler to guarantee very hot water 24 hours a day. We recycle all our washing machine water with an automatic sprinkler to wet our extensive gardens, and we also collect any plastic or glass bottle left behind to be recycled. ... more   less
