“Absolutely fabulous!”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We'd already been in Botswana for a fortnight's tented safari when we arrived at the Garden Lodge and only stayed her for 24 hours before leaving the country. We immediately wished we'd got more time to spend here because it's just lovely.
The lodge itself is very attractive, the location is stunning, the food delicious and the staff really friendly.
There are only 8 (I think) rooms so it feels comfortable and friendly.
We had an upstairs double room which was beautiful and it had a staircase leading to a further 2 single beds and an outside terrace/balcony. I sat on the balcony with a cup of tea, watching the sun setting over the Chobe River and the warthogs grazing in the garden- bliss!
The food was lovely- we're vegetarians and to be honest, the food we had in Botswana was more delicious than a lot of the veggie options offered in the UK. The staff sit at the tables to eat with the visitors and because the tables are large, communal ones, everyone chats away to one another about their day, the wildlife they've seen, the places they've been etc.
I also enjoyed sitting by the swimming pool reading, whilst one of the resident cats (named "Cool Dude") sat on my lap.
Kasane is not that big but we had a walk round and found the locals very smiley and friendly.
All-in-all, we loved our time here and wished we'd had longer to enjoy it. Oh well, we'll just have to go back!

Room Tip: I would pick an upstairs soom every time, so that you can sit on your own private balcony and enjoy...

From the time we were picked up at the Botswana border by Moss the asst. manager, we knew this was going to be a great experience. The owners and staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The meals were delicious; we especially enjoyed the afternoon tea! The tours that were part of our package were fantastic with knowledgeable guides. After seeing lots of animals on safari and on our boat cruise, we were all excited to look out on the lawn after dinner and see three huge hippos that just wandered up from the river. We safely watched them from behind the hedge. What fun!

Room Tip: There are only 8 rooms. All are lovely and look out on the garden.

This lodge is a wonderful haven in busy Kasane, much nicer than the huge lodges down the road. It has has only few rooms and has a very personal and homey feeling, The upstairs rooms are very comfortable with a big private outdoor terrace to relax on. The food is really excellent, fantastic salads and subtly spiced dishes, a step above the usual safari fare of lots of grilled meat. Dining is around a communal dining table, which was fun. The staff is very helpful and the house has lots of atmosphere!

Room Tip: upstairs rooms have a great view and are probably quieter

My stay here was booked through a package with another company and I was unsure of what these lodge offered. Upon my arrival I was greeted warmly and offered lunch (at a cost). Everything from then on was wonderful. The food was great, the staff were friendly and accommodating. The meals and conversation with the other guests were great for a solo traveler.

This hotel has only few rooms and has a nice personal and homey feeling, it almost felt like staying with friends. The garden by the Chobe river is usually visited by ducks and warthogs but also hippos can be seen at night, a very special sight over dinner. The room was nice and ample although we seemed to have the largest room in the hotel (room 1), probably worth asking when booking. The boat trips in the evening are just amazing, you will fall in love with those African sunsets.

On arrival at garden lodge we were greeted by the very friendly owners who gave us a tour of the place and made us feel very welcome, the Rooms are very comfortable with a private outdoor terrace to relax on, I especially enjoyed the dining experience with all the guests sat around the communal dining table which turned out to be a very international affair with guests from around the world swapping stories from their trips so far, this lodge would be particularly good for single travellers as you could never feel isolated here, there is always someone around to chat to, all the staff were extremely friendly and after only 2 days it felt like we were staying with family rather than a hotel, and the game drives we went on were also very good, would highly recommend this lodge

Just returned home from 3 weeks of many places in South Africa, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, addo elephant camp, Durban, Vic Falls and Capetown and by far this was my favorite place we stayed. Located on the Chobe river, hosts Gabi and Phillip were like family. A lovely 9 room lodge, excellent appointments, great food, arranged all tours, fantastic staff, and accommodating every request. I wish I could live there!!!!!! My son and I stayed 2 nights and did not want to leave. Great value and most of all Just lovely people. Do the sunset cruises and of course Chobe National Park. Saw leopard, hippos, elephants, crocs, impala, zebra, giraffe plus thousands of different birds. Bring decent camera to capture the amazing wildlife. Phillip will even give you a ride on his amazing motorcyle!!! Miss you guys and cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: Any room would be sufficient. Could not have been a better experience. GO GO GO
