On the outside, this looks like a decent place to stay "in a pinch". We needed a hotel for the Sunday of the Memorial Day Weekend so we could enjoy the great beach weather on Monday and spend the next four days in a luxury suite at our favorite AC Casino. After booking the reservation through Wyndham direct, there was confusion regarding if the room was smoking or not (we requested smoking but the confirmation showed both smoking and non smoking). I called the Hotel directly immediately after booking and was absolutely reassured that my reservation was for a king smoking room (the desk clerk asked for my last name and I provided it to him-I also told him that I sent a comment stating that ours might be a late check-in). Upon our arrival at the hotel in the early evening, I was informed that there was no king smoking room available. I could have a double smoking or a king non smoking. I was told this by the General Manager/Desk Clerk who also quite firmly stated that I never spoke with anyone at their hotel (an outright lie). He insisted that I called an 800 number even though I swore that the number I called was his direct line.
Then I started to get upset. I had wanted a romantic night for my fiance and me to kick off a 5 day holiday. The GM told me I was a miserable person and asked if I had lost money in the casino. I told him it was none of his business and that he was a miserable person. He was trying to encourage me to cancel the reservation and we were quite tired from driving many hours. I was told to never come back there again! I found out after our long conversation that he was the GM and not before. He handed me one room key and told me the number of the room. No folio or anything. I asked him to write the number down at least and he was fuming mad. I asked what time the breakfast was going to be served in the morning and he told me to read the sign. When I walked out to get my girl in the car, I nearly broke my neck tripping on their walkway. Next, we got to see the real nightmare! The Room! I've never seen such a dirty disgusting place in my entire life. There was ashes inside the bedsheets from the previous occupants...sticky liquids all over the furniture and night table, a grimy bathroom floor, a screen window that was open and unclosable and would allow anyone access to our room if they wanted to...every electric item in the room was unplugged. It was a terrible experience. I am also reporting this to Wyndham and Super 8!
The staff was very friendly, room was clean, comfortable and affordable. It was everything I needed and wanted for my trip. Will stay here again. Great location only about 10-15 minutes from casinos and Atlantic City.
Older hotel with older amenities, everything worked well. Clean, no smell of smoke in room. Only 10 min drive to AC. Ez check-in/out. Free breakfast coffee, juices, pastry's, cereal, bagels and toast. All of the staff (family run) were very friendly and helpful. I paid less than $100 total for Thurs. Fri. and Sat. night. If your looking to be pampered or expect the Ritz Carleton, go somewhere else. If your looking for a nice bed to sleep, shower and some free coffee and bagel in the morning chose Super 8.
