“Excellent stay at this nice hotel”
Reviewed 25 November 2011

I had a great stay at this small hotel.

Staff were very very friendly, so friendly in fact that I felt a bit awkward, as no hotel would even come close to being this nice to you in Australia. This is hospitality, and Australian hoteliers have a lot to learn in this area!

The rooms were very spacious and simply decorated, and kept very clean by the housekeeping. It would've been nice if the TV was more centered in front of the bed (about where the mirror is), as it makes watching TV from bed slightly awkward. But otherwise there's no real complaint about the rooms.

I had requested the massage services at the hotel (who calls in staff from the Healthy Hands shop), and found it to be quite nice and relaxing. I do however like to suggest for the hotel to perhaps get rid of that bed in the Lv4 massage room, and replace it with a proper massage bed, one that has a firm surface so the masseur's energy doesn't get wasted pushing us into the soft mattress, and one with a "face hole" so we can lie face-down without smothering ourselves with the pillow.

I also had meals in the hotel's restaurant both for breakfast and for dinner. Service of the staff was definitely excellent, and I can see a few of the staff were probably in-training, as they tried very hard to get it right. The food was also well cooked, perhaps a bit too "plain" for the Asian palette (so be sure to ask them to make it spicy if you like it that way!).

I would just like to ask the hotel if they could perhaps consider providing some Asian options with their breakfast buffet, such as rice porridge and noodle soup, as I must admit I crave when all I see in front of me is pieces of "dry baked wheat-flour" (aka. bread, haha!). But of course, if the majority of the hotel's customers are westerners, then I guess keeping it the way it is currently is fine, as there's nothing wrong with the current offerings if you prefer a western style breakfast.

Room Tip: 4th floor doesn't have elevator access, so make sure you mention it if you need elevator access

The location, room, and staff were excellent and the free breakfast an added bonus. Hotel is located on a quiet street that is only a short distance walk (5 min) from the center of the city. The room was nicely appointed and the hotel well maintained. Staff as in many Cambodian hotels were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Soria Moria was recommended by a friend who spends a lot of time in Cambodia and has been to Siem Reap many times.

Room Tip: Soria Moria believes in giving their staff better conditions and salaries than average. As a consequ...

Stayed for 2 weeks in October 2011. Location perfect, close enough to town to walk, but far enough to be quiet. Excellent breakfast, boutique but with 5 star staff and service.

We spent two nights at the Soria Moria hotel and loved it. Nice rooms, clean, everything worked and the staff was excellent. The location is good and we enjoyed the restaurant. We booked a tuk-tuk driver and guide for our visit to the ruins thru the hotel and everything was perfect. Highly recommended!

I am just wrapping up my second visit to Siem Reap. I was so impressed with Soria Moria the first time that I wanted to stay there for the entire two weeks of this vacation. I wish I had. Unfortunately, my travel companion wanted to split our visit between two hotels...Soria Moria for the first week and Steung Siem Reap for the second.

I was very sad to leave Soria Moria...so sad that I decided to stay an extra night while my travel companion stuck to the plan of moving the Steung. To give you an idea of how good the owner and staff of Soria Moria are, they went the extra mile to find a way to give me the extra night as part of my original booking...without any additional cost to me.

My appreciation for Soria Moria grew exponentially when, upon moving in to my room at Steung, I discovered it was infested with cockroaches and had mould creeping up from baseboards and in the shower. (I will write a separate review of Steung later.)

The stark contrast between the bright, airy, clean and comfortable environment of Soria Moria, and the dark, tired, Raid-filled environment of Steung has given me a whole new appreciation for Soria Moria.

The hotel is in a very good location. It is very quiet but yet only less than a five minute walk away from Pub Street. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast buffet was actually quite good, and the rooms comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help in any way possible whether it was just taking care of your laundry or arranging a tuk tuk tour of Angkor Wat temples. I also tried the traditional Khmer massage which can be needed after a day of climbing around on temples on a very hot and humid day. I did not try the restaurant other than for the breakfast included with the room nor the roof top jacuzzi. I would certainly recommend the hotel.
