“Clean, spacious”

Location is so so, on the road end of the "hotel street". Room is clean and spacious. Free wifi at lobby, if in the room signal is really weak. Air con works well. Hotel has a swimming pool open till 9pm, but saw guests still swim after 9pm. Buffet breakfast is included in room rate during our stay. Food tastes so so. Staff are friendly with limit English communication. Overall, good and comfy stay.

Room Tip: Free wifi at lobby, signal in room really weak. Room air con works well. Room 409 onward window wi...

We visited Siem Reap this week on a trip organized with CTrip. I was a little concerned when I heard that of all of the possible hotels CTrip listed we were indeed going to be staying at the Dragon Royal which has not received the best of reviews here on tripadvisor.

The hotel is situated about as far from the centre of things as possible, it is old and tired although clean and that for me is a huge plus.

It is set up entirely to cater for the Chinese tour market and, as the only Westerner on the tour, this jarred a little when it came to breakfast for instance, which was decidedly Chinese in both content and guest behavior.

When we arrived in our room it was to find that the toilet seat was broken off, had been nicely cleaned and then simply laid at 90 degrees to the toilet itself as if this made it ok...

There are no facilities as such, the "bar/coffee shop" has the appearance of never having been used in a long time. No coffee or milk in the rooms. Very poor wifi and little or no interest from front of house staff.

The hotel advertises itself as Four Star and perhaps it was many many years ago but now it barely deserves Two Star rating in all honesty.

Having visited other hotels in Siem Reap where you can get true Five Star facilities and treatment for very little money I can only advise that you give the Dragon Royal a miss.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

I went there when my husband's 60th birthday anniversary. It was old building.
The breakfast buffet was sufficient and decent. the hotel is mainly filled with Korean and chinese tourist. So don't be surprised to see kimchi served as part of the breakfast buffet menu. It was pretty impressive.
And we could enjoy the private swimming pool.
The staff was very kind. Well not good at english but they tried to help the guset with smile and warm heart.

I too booked through an online booking site and when I arrived at this hotel they refused to honor the reservation despite presenting a confirmation letter of my confirmed, prepaid booking. The staff was very rude and the manager was evasive. Only after i insisted on him finding another hotel for me he obliged but would not refund my prepaid booking. The manager also refused to pay for another hotel and did not pay for transportation to another hotel.

I do not recommend booking this hotel as you can have no confidence your reservation confirmation will be honored. The manager stated, "unless you are with a tour group, we do not honor your reservation". He also stated it is not his problem if the rooms are being sold on booking sites. I have experienced over-bookings before but never have been treated with such unprofessional disrespect and arrogance- this place must be a fraud.

We arrived at 11:30 at night in tourist season and were informed that we had no room. After eventually getting through to the manager via telephone, he informed us that the hotel does not consider online bookings to be valid despite being available through all the popular booking sites (Agoda, Orbitz....the list goes on). He refused to refund our deposit and when we asked for assistance finding a new hotel he claimed it was not his responsibility and informed us that he had similarly turned away 5 people already that day alone.
We ended up in driving around till 3:30am till we found a dingy, dirty room for 80 dollars.
Overall, an unimpressive service. The lobby looked wonderful though.

its a bit creepy sometimes because you can hear the security guards downstairs but I guess its good to know you are safe. the beds are very comfortable and you sleep like a log. there is a tv of course with cartoon network for kids. very spacious room. a super clean toilet. The breakfast rooms are very well decorated and the pool is nice and big with nice décor. its quite so you can have a great nights sleep. I find the hotel over all wonderfully decorated and nicely furnished. the lobby is very nice. Beautiful. The hotel is about ten minutes away from the airport and close to many good eating spots. the spa is very comfortable. You will have a lot of memories staying there.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise.

we made the room booking online. as we were arriving early in the morning, we requested to check in as soon as we reach Siem Reap. our email was replied by Mr Chhay Seila (Sales Manager).

the hotel is located close to the airport. we check in at about 9 am, personally attended by Mr Chhay Seila. awesome orange juice was served while waiting. the hotel is pretty masculine with heavy teak woods. the room was spacious.

in the evening, the hot water was not working. we called the room service and within 5 minutes the repair man was already in our bathroom and it was fixed. the water pressure is great. the next morning at 6am we called the room service for an iron. although the receptionist did not know what an iron is (we spelled for her and she still could not figure it out), the call was passed to another receptionist. again, within 5 minutes an iron was sent to our room. the staff are friendly. we hang out at the pool to cool off. one of the staff, called Sarong approached us to chat.

the breakfast buffet was sufficient and decent. the hotel is mainly filled with Korean and Japanese tourist. so don't be surprised to see kimchi served as part of the breakfast buffet menu.
