“Services galore!”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

Pavillion D'Orient is simply exceptional due to the highest level of services accorded to its guests. From the moment you book until the time you leave, nothing is beyond Sebastien and his ever-smiling and courteous team. E-mails are responded quickly, a car/tuk-tuk is available for your exclusive use to travel to the temple visits and other parts of the city. All charges are either included already or would be clearly spelt out.

All the staff stood-out but certain people we interact with daily are simply great; Charlie with his deep voice, Mrs Phally (?) with her sing song English handling the front office, the waitresses managing the morning breakfasts. I regret not remembering all their names but all were truly exceptional. The rooms could do with some updating but I believe that will be done soon when the new wing is ready.

We had the exclusive use of Mr. Samreth with his trusty Camry, he was a very safe and conscientious driver, always making sure we had our cold towels and drinks when we went on our temple visits and even volunteered as a guide to Kbal Speen. Tuk-Tuk drivers Chuck and Pirom ensured we had our umbrellas during rainy days and waited for us when we went to town for dinners.

A really memorable visit, we were never left in need of anything!

1) Hotel booking -
Emails replied usually within 12h. No deposit required, we pay everything upon checkout. Very hassle free.
2) airport pickup and check in -
Smooth, nothing to complain about. Recepts speak good English and have good knowledge of nearby attractions and restaurants. Book on Angkor wat is loaned to guests upon checkin. You can have the option to purchase it later.
3) location -
You have the free tuktuk driver at your service, so location of hotel being 10-15mins (by car) away from city centre is no issue.
In fact, I do like it being away from city centre. The air is cleaner. Less dusty. But there is nothing interesting next to hotel. You have some provision stores, a bike repair shop, a place that constructs garden swings…
The entrance to hotel is also not the grand sweeping driveway you'd normally expect. The entrance feels like a house's side gate.
4) rooms and breakfast -
Rooms have a slightly dated feel. Furnishings are also a little old. But the room is clean, and spacious. And the bathroom is large. Amenities in the bathroom are basic. Juz shower foam, shampoo, soap and hand wash. With hair dryer, toothbrushes, shower cap and cotton buds. You may need to bring your own stuff. Power outlet here accepts both US' 110V and Singapore's 240v voltage. Weird. But convenient.
Breakfast is not like international hotel chain. Don't expect a huge variety of food. But they have freshly prepared smoothies, eggs (done anyway u want), sausages (tastes more like Chinese ngor hiangs - where u can see the minced meat, not like western sausages) and u muz try the Khmer rice soup. (Is boiled rice in soup stock. With accompanying condiments of basil, scallions, bird chillies, bean sprouts and lime). Yummy.
And breakfast is from 6.30 am to 10PM (yes. PM!). Meaning u can have a free meal any time. Need not b morning. U can sleep till 3pm if u want!!!
5) Spa and tuktuk -
Spa is so so. But cheap. Done on site at hotel. They have a small bldg with 2 spa beds for the massage services. For better massage, try sokkhak or bodia spa in town. More ex, but poshier.
Tuktuk service is necessary in siem reap. They don't have other forms of public transport. By having a free tuktuk attached to u, u also have no worries on the transport costs. Which means no haggling required. The tuktuk driver speaks English. You will have his cellphone number. But don't SMS him. He may not know how to spell that well. Call.
The driver also knows where are the usual places tourists go to. Including slightly out of the way places (I went to happy ranch horse farm, which is way out in the countryside and touiche restaurant, another out of the way place).

All in all, a REALLY REALLY REALLY good place to stay in if you are visiting siem reap. The staff are really friendly and tries to accommodate to your needs. I had late checkout till 2.30pm. And early checkin.

859 reviewers gave an excellent rating out of 949 as on date of this review with only 2 poor reviews so that should sum up the Pavillon d’Orient and its services.

It’s a boutique hotel in the true sense and whatever drawbacks have been taken care of by the management and the owners. The obvious drawback being location.

This has been admirably addressed by having an exclusive complimentary Tuk Tuk at your disposal for the duration of your stay there till 10.00 PM every night and the time can be extended by arrangement with the hotel.

Sebastien was always prompt in replying our emails and answered all queries in detail. All guests have a complimentary Airport transfer both ways and our driver was awaiting our arrival and once we purchased a couple of sim cards for our phones just by the exit doors of the airport he was right there.

When you arrive don’t be taken aback looking at the simple entrance from the road.

On check in after a small orientation they provide you with a detailed map of the Tourist attractions and of Siem Reap produced by them and a book about Ancient Angkor, the book to be returned on check out. A copy of the book may be purchased from them. A pamphlet with common Khmer Phrases and Do’s and Dont’s and a sightseeing tour tariff sheet are also part of the package. There is a list of the recommended restaurants in the room and we found them to be pretty accurate in their recommendations.

We were a family of 3 and were there for 4 nights we had a proper extra bed in the room without any problems. It was a bit of a tight fit. Our room had comfortable beds. All the regular facilities with clean and nice bathrooms with all the amenities /toiletries. Impeccable housekeeping with overly respectful and friendly staff. Lots of greenery outside the room

Strangely though neighbouring Thailand where we travel to pretty often has many times the number of tourists, the Thai’s have not picked up or refuse to pick up the English language. English will not be a problem in Cambodia.

Good breakfasts with eggs and sausages along with a couple of local specialities on order with all the other food laid out and very attentive service. Delicious homemade jams.

The personal touch is reflected again in their bedtime stories with a rolled up scroll to greet you when you return every night with a Cambodian Folk Tale and a parting gift of for each of us on the last night of our stay there. Turned out that was not our last night as we had made a mistake on our checkout date and they accommodated us another night without any problem.

Thank you Sebastein and the team at Pavillon d’Orient for the personalised hospitality which no chain or Star hotel can give and all the best to all of you. Hope to see you soon. This review was long overdue having stayed there just after the Khmer New Year in April.

Warmly welcomed when we arrived with swift check in, rooms clean very comfortable and well prepared, with generous bathroom. Meals were all freshly prepared and beautifully presented. A car was waiting for us at the airport and took us swiftly to hotel. The inclusive tuk tuk each day was great, taking us from site to site or restaurant and waiting for us until we were ready to go to next place. A very nice hotel with excellent staff, very good value for money, would recomend to anyone, many thanks .

Cambodian hospitality at its best.
We stayed there from the 8th of september till the 12th. With free airport transfers, all day breakfast and a personal tuk tuk driver attached to you from sunrise till sunset included in the price, this was the most value for money hotel. And the staff were great. Such enthusiasm and friendliness felt like we were staying in a 6 star luxury hotel. My wife grew attached to the staff as they were sincerely genuine. They always went out of the way to make our stay memorable. Little scrolls of cambodian fairy tales were placed on our bed each night. I had my birthday during the stay and they celebrated it with a complimentary cake. Fresh made homemade pastries, jam and shakes for breakfast. Swimming pool was open 24 hours. Little quaint spa which was extremely affordable. And our tuk tuk driver Mr Sna was extremely patient and always willing to bring us anywhere we wanted to go. Definitely returning here and recommending this hotel to everyone i know.

Room Tip: They only have deluxe rooms for now with suites being constructed.

We had a great stay here, although only for the one night.

There was some confusion on our airport pick-up but this was very quickly resolved when we arrived and the staff were continually apologetic for this.

Generally the staff were great, so enthusiastic and friendly, always wanting to help us more.

The tuk tuk driver was so useful and gave us great freedom to see Angkor Watt at our own pace.

As it was my girlfriend's birthday they even arranged for a surprise cake for her on arrival.

Would very highly recommend, including the spa.
