An excellent property in every aspect. The true asset is the staff! They all go out of their way to be helpful and assist you with any request! Both swimming pools are gorgeous and available 24h for swimming, which is a nice touch. The rooms are well appointed and all have a view. Our tuk-tuk driver, Mr. Khun, was extremely nice (and patient!) with us. Special thanks to Claudia, the Guest Relations Manager, who made many great recommendations and was very helpful throughout our stay! We loved the daily bedtime stories delivered in the room at turn-down! All in all, this property truly deserves its ranking on Tripadvisor! Well done!

First things first. The intro to the property by the Guest Relations Manager left no stone unturned. She is Claudia (from Portugal) and wow...what an efficient, professional, friendly person she is. Nothing gets by Claudia. Talk about attention to detail. Very impressive which set the tone for the hotel from day one. Great staff, roomy, comfortable guest accommodation, terrific pool, your personal tuk tuk driver at your disposal, free 30 min massage per person, just a great place to be in delightful surroundings. 'Pavilon' is not in the middle of the action on Pub Street. It's on the edge of town in relatively peaceful surroundings- unless the odd wedding belts out non stop Cambodian hits. Afterall tis the matrimonial season I'm told. Breakfast and dinner options are good and again, the staff are fabulous. What else can you say! Highly recommended and no wonder it's as popular as it is.

Out of our three week vacation in SE Asia, I would say that Pavilion d'Orient was by far my favourite place that we stayed. The hotel was beautiful and stylish and we had a warm welcome from staff who kindly introduced us to the hotel amenities. Our room was spacious, clean and well decorated with a balcony. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom had a shower and a bathtub separately.

This hotel boasts two swimming pools, both of a similar size, clean, beautiful and not too heavy on the chlorine. After rising at the crack of dawn to trundle to Angkor, what better way to relax over lunch than lazing around by the pool with a pizza and a beer? It was a great way to unwind after an intense morning of visiting temples, which would then prepare us for our afternoon of going back to Angkor.

As part of your stay a tuktuk driver, who is basically on-call for you for the duration of your time at the hotel, is included. You are given their name and number so you can contact them as and when, or if you happen to lose them in the mass of tuktuks outside of Angkor Wat! We had a slight hitch on our first morning when we had arranged the previous night to be picked up at sunrise and our driver failed to show up. The staff at the hotel apologized profusely, as did the driver (the drives aren't really hotel employees, they're outsourced) - following this we kept our assigned driver and he turned out to be a fantastic driver for our two days at the temples. He was always on the lookout for us after we had visited a temple to ensure that we didn't spend ages finding him a midst the hundreds of tuktuks milling around the parking areas. He also took us to the smaller, quieter temples as part of Angkor where there were hardly any tourists at the time of visiting, which we probably wouldn't have thought of going to if it weren't for his guidance.

The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious, we enjoyed the Amok chicken greatly and the pizzas were also divine! Above all, the waiting staff were polite, helpful, and incredibly nice.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to any travelers hoping to go see the temples of Angkor, you will get your money's worth and more at Pavilion d'Orient!

I'd recommend Pavillon d'Orient without hesitation to anyone wondering where to stay in Siem Reap. It offers affordable pampering in very pleasant surroundings, the level of service is superlative, and it will make your entire Siem Reap experience that much easier.

Coming from tiny 6-room places in Thailand, the place felt relatively resorty, albeit in a 1930s, Agatha Christie kind of way. It's definitely a hotel not a guest house. There are two pools and a very good hotel restaurant (we loved the fruit smoothies and breakfasts - try the Cambodian congee!)

Our room was attractively furnished, very well maintained and came with all the amenities we needed (fan and air con, bath robes, excellent shower, delicious daily fruit bowl). Two special touches were the Khmer art and photographs of French-era angkor dotted through the hotel, and the open-air corridors (watch that no crickets creep under your door!)

The service was what made the experience for us, though. The hotel is a well-oiled machine, and the staff - from the management down to the cleaners - are unfailingly friendly and helpful. Keep it up!

This was our first time in Siem Reap, and our stay at Pavillon d'Orient took the stress out of the equation. Not only did the reception staff handle all our last minute booking requests with aplomb. More importantly, our stay came with one very important perk - our own designated tuk tuk driver, who not only took us everywhere we wanted, but ended up (on our request) showing us some delicious roadside eateries away from the touristy part of Siem Reap. (Thank you Sokhom, you were awesome.) As a result the hotel's location away from the main retail/restaurant areas really is no issue - probably an advantage as it's so quiet.

When we next come back to Siem Reap, we'll come back here!

Using the ratings here in Trip Advisor as our guide, my son and I proceeded to book a Junior Suite for two nights. As the other reviews already confirmed, the outstanding ratings that the hotel regularly gets is no mere fluke. It only proves that it is not only the "hardware" (i.e. the facilities) that make a hotel but more importantly, the warmth & service of the staff. They are truly the ones who make the stay memorable. After being picked up at the airport at the ungodly hour of 11pm, our car driver brought us to the property (Note: transfers were included) where we were welcomed by a male reception staff who was just as fresh, friendly and lively as if he just came in for work. He actually even offered to check us in while already inside our reserved room as our flight came into Siem Reap in the late evening; however, we were fine as we were and just checked in at the desk (nice touch though). Our junior suite looked truly cozy and decorated in the old colonial style that its website advertises. Sometimes I get wary of these 'professional' photos as they are usually made up to look really nice but what you actually get is short of the expectation. Not so with this hotel. WYSIWYG > what you see if you get..(thumbs up). The following day and after a good breakfast with attentive service at Le Planteur (hotel restaurant), we decided to start with the furthest temple (Beng Mealea with Tonle Sap lake tour as a side trip), so we wisely booked the car instead of a tuktuk for the trip (even though the tuktuk was part of the package). Now the temple/lake are not exactly far, but the pace of driving in Siem Reap is quite leisurely compared to the pace of driving that I am normally accustomed to. It was my son's second trip to Siem Reap but this was my first. And he told me before the trip that Beng Mealea was his best attraction as the temple remains unrestored and probably the most underrated of them all. There are no tour guides here (at least that we noticed) and there were actually only 2 hawkers of scarves and other light apparel. If dramatic photography is your type of activity, then this is one temple you should not miss -- you only need to sit in the car for about an hour to get there. All throughout Beng Mealea, there are a lot of vantage points that offer dramatic shots. And you are only limited by your creativity (and your fitness) as you are free to climb/crawl anywhere and everywhere as you dare.. (PS: you must be fit and agile though and not have any qualms about getting a little dirty). After seeing the temple all over (and I am not kidding), we went back to the car and the driver had cold mineral water and cold disposable wet wipes (napkins) to freshen us up before we had a quick lunch nearby and the next trip to Tonle Sap lake. The private boat tour (US$20/person) is the perfect way to see how locals live up close. The photos we took of the "slice of life" of the people whose livelihood depends on this huge lake are precious. We even have photos of 7-year olds and up using aluminum basins and styropore coolers as makeshift boats in the lake. Amazing... On our return to the hotel, the cool waters of the pool were such a treat.
The next day, we rose at 0445 in order to catch the sunrise and photo opportunities at Angkor Wat. Only a few other hundreds had the same idea.. hahaha. At around 0730, we were on our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a quick rest before resuming the tour. Of course, Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, etc. are all what they promise to be - astounding and the well-deserved main attractions. This was the final day of our trip and we had expected to check out at the customary 12 noon; however our flight back home was still scheduled at 2230 so we were figuring out what/where we would spend our time till we needed to depart for the airport. Fortunately, Claudia (the hotel's guest relations officer) overheard that our flight was still at 2230 later that night and soooooo very graciously offered us a complimentary room to stay in till we were ready to leave for the hotel. Of course, she said that we would have to check out of our Junior Suite and transfer to the regular room - what a surprise! Notice that this happened only because she overheard us talking about it and not because we made a request. And this is exactly what defines delightful and memorable service: not only being able to meet your guest's needs, but to exceed them. Gosh, did she exceed them! Yet there was still other surprises awaiting.. While in the Junior Suite, I particularly noticed a decorative piece: a well-made papier-mache replica of an apsara (female face). The hotel then made arrangements to retrieve the piece from the room and I was able to happily take it back home as a memento. Claudia also told us that we were free to keep the luggage in our temporary room until we returned from dinner before proceeding to the airport so that we would not have to keep toting around our hand-carried items. I was hoping to meet Sebastien, the GM of this exceptional property, to personally thank him for such a wonderful experience but unfortunately our timings were different. But then again, the staff handled everything so well that the hotel ran by itself. To summarize: in any service industry, it is the software (the people) who can make the difference between an experience to forget, one that was so-so and one that you remember positively for a long, long time. In this case, the positive experience is no longer a question of how much you paid for your room or whether the door knobs or whatever were made of gold.. there was a very real, warm and gracious human element in the experience of this property that many other hotels who were many times bigger will have a difficult time in surpassing. As a wise one said: "it is not how big you are, but how you make yourself big". With this, I can only end with my finals words that this was truly the ideal vacation, short as it was.. Definitely, this hotel deserves a revisit when we return.

I have stayed in this hotel 3 nights in New Year´s Eve with my familiy (2 adults and 2 children) and everything was perfect. Staff of this hotel take care of all the details.

Just to mention the best things (I haven´t found bad points to mention):

- Tuk tuk included in the price of the room is excellent. It´s a great plus
- Breakfast is one the best we have tried in the last months. Superb the fruits!!
- Food of the restaurants was also great.
- Rooms very well equipped and comfortable
- Wifi available
- They allow to stay with your children in the same room. In our case we had 2 queen beds in the room
- 2 massage of 30' for free
- The Swimming pools were also good.
- Pickup and return from airport also included in the room rate.

And finally and most important the staff were always very pleasent with us and we felt in this hotel extremely well. Since the beggining to the end.

But remember this is not a 5 Star hotel. I would say it´s a 4 star hotel with a 7 star customer service.

My sister and I stayed at the Pavillon D'Orient in early December, 2013. We had read all the reviews from others who have stayed at the Pavillon and I just want to confirm that what everyone says about this hotel is 100% accurate. From the minute we landed at the airport, where our driver was waiting, to our arrival at the hotel and throughout our stay -- I cannot say enough good things about the Pavillon. Our tuk tuk driver was Brak Samphors and I hope you are lucky enough to have him as your driver when you stay at the Pavillon -- he is the nicest and most accommodating driving -- taking us to Pub Street in the evening and waiting for us to have dinner. The ladies in the spa were just amazing -- and the massages and facials are so inexpensive that you will definitely want to book your appointments in advance. And others commented on the hotel restaurant -- we had breakfast daily (I loved the fried rice and the chicken soup), and we also had dinner one night and it was also very good.

We stayed in room 16 which is in the old section and we absolutely loved the character of the room. Fresh fruit delivered daily is a nice addition to an already outstanding value that this hotel provides.

Since we had reviewed so many hotels prior to choosing the Pavillon -- it was interesting to drive around Siem Reap in our tuk tuk and see the hotels in person. I can tell you that we were so glad that we chose the Pavillon and would recommend that anyone who is looking for a great hotel in Siem Reap choose the Pavillon -- you absolutely will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: We stayed in the older section, room 16, with twin beds. Loved the character, the bathroom showers...
