I don't think there is much I can add to the other reviews. It was such a wonderful experience - the room, the pool, the free tuk-tuk driver, the breakfast. Everything was so good. The best thing was the staff. They are so nice and accomodating. I felt like one of the family and really didn't want to leave. It is out of town but with the free driver, it doesn't make any difference. It was fun to go to into town for dinner, but we were happy not to be staying right there. Definitely stay here. It was the best.

We can only confirm all the other reviews - one of the best hotels regarding service and friendliness of the staff in Indochine. The location is a little bit far away from Siem Reap downtown but that doesn´t matter because of the private Tuk tuk driver every room has for the duration of stay.

We would like to say thank you to the Hotel Management and staff for the wonderful time we have spend in Pavillon d´Orient.

Our stay at the Pavillon d"Orient resonated all the previous rave reviews. The beautiful pool came handy when our 4yr old daughter did not want to go to the temple more than a couple of hours a day. The personal tuk-tuk made it possible for my husband and I to switch off to see the temples while one of us stayed in the hotel with our daughter. I also really appreciated that the manager Sébastien provided us a delicious birthday cake and a wonderful massage for my birthday celebration. On the second night we were there, we woke up at four AM due to jet lag. The hotel staff woke our tuk-tuk driver up so we could see the spectacular sunrise at Angkor Wat. Thank you Sébastien and all the staff at Pavillon d"Orient for making my birthday a most memorable one.
P.S. Try the Cambodia Rice Soup for breakfast. It is yummy!

This was our first time to Siem Reap and we booked the 3 day 3 night package directly with the hotel. The service right from the start was outstanding. Sebastien, the Manager, was quick to respond to my emails and we didn’t need to pay anything until we departed. We found all the staff very friendly and they always remembered our room numbers when we collected our keys at reception, one of the pleasures of staying at a small hotel.

The rooms are comfortable with both air con and fan and have either a terrace or balcony overlooking the pool and lush garden, there is a separate bath and large shower. The bed was only a standard double size but was fine for a few nights. There is free Wi-Fi in the reception area but it was quite slow compared to back home, presumably the band width isn’t up to latest western standards. We all thought the food was excellent and very fairly priced when we ate at the hotel and also used the free tuk tuk service to go out in the evening, this was ideal as the location is slightly out of town towards Angkor Wat.

Siem Reap town has a really nice feel to it. Ok it is very touristy, as you would expect, but we felt very safe walking around and there are plenty of restaurants and bars, particularly on Pub Street. There was a night market which sells a good selection of souvenirs and there were plenty of ‘fish massage’ pools where tiny fish eat the dead skin from your feet. They were quite popular with tourists for a bit of fun but some places had much hungrier fish than others. We ate at Cafe Indochine one night and treated ourselves to a meal at the splendid Raffles hotel where they have an excellent buffet and traditional dancing display 3 times a week.

As there were 4 of us travelling and we had booked the 3 day package, we were provided with a private mini bus and we paid extra for an English speaking guide who escorted us around the temples explaining the history to us along the way. The heat and humidity was quite intense when sightseeing all day so it was nice to have a pool to cool down in back at the hotel. I would highly recommend the hotel’s tour program as it offered excellent value for money. I would have loved to have stayed for a week instead and just done half day trips or do a day on day off routine with more time to relax in between.

I would recommend this great value hotel to anyone and the experience was excellent from initial contact to departure.

This is a good mid-range option for Siem Reap/Angkor.

The best part of this hotel is the service and the people that work there: all 5 out of 5! From the tuk-tuk driver, to the receptionists, to the breakfast staff, to the tour guide hired via the hotel - everyone was amazing!

As for the room and the hotel itself I'm not sure that it lived up to our expectations (since it's rated #1). The rooms are simple and adequate, but we didn't find them particularly cozy (the floors could use some rugs). Also the hotel grounds at night are full of mosquitoes and insects. This was our biggest issue as sitting in the lobby and checking email or eating in the open air hotel restaurant is not particularly enjoyable when there are lots of bugs around. I know that the hotel has lush green grounds, but I also stayed at other hotels in Thailand that sprayed their ground for mosquitoes and I would recommend this to the hotel owner.

We hired a private tour guide for the 2 full days of temple sight seeing and I would recommend that to everyone! Otherwise you might feel like you are walking mindlessly through temple ruins. Also, some of the temples are huge and the guide will take you to all of the right spots so you won't miss anything. The tour guide was also able to fit in a visit to the Floating Village, which was very interesting and we enjoyed going there.

We used the hotel spa massage service twice and we found them to be professional and good.

POManager, Manager at Pavillon d'Orient Boutique-Hotel, responded to this review, 9 December 2009
Good evening from Pavillon d'Orient.

Thank for taking time to write a review about our hotel. First of all, we are glad to hear that you have appreciated the service and employees of our hotel.

Regarding our guest's rooms, we have tried to design comfortable rooms for our clients each with a private balcony overlooking our tropical garden and swimming pool. For the room's decoration we have a mix of Cambodian traditional tiles on the corridor part and wooden floor on the rest of the room. We have Cambodian traditional furniture and pictures mixed with modern facilities (flat screen TV, mini bar, idd telephone, safety box, tea and coffee making facilities, private bathroom with separate shower and bathtub...). But we do understand that not everyone will like our decoration.

Concerning the mosquitoes and bugs, I guess you came just after the raining season. We had some annoyance with the bugs during this time (end of October, beginning of November) and we tried to minimize them as much as we can. We do have different procedures against mosquitoes: we are processing to a pest control (minimum of 3 times a month), we are putting mosquitoes coils under every tables in our lobby, internet area and restaurant as well as under every table in our guest's rooms balconies. We are also spraying the rooms and corridor twice a day (during our housekeeping day time service and during our evening turndown service). Furthermore, there is an electric tool against mosquitoes inside every guest's rooms. Additionally, the clients can request us a mosquitoes repellent to apply on the skin.

As a hotel of 18 guest's rooms, our service can be personalized. Do not hesitate to contact our receptionists or myself directly during the stay for any kind of requests or problems. We are willing to make sure that all our clients have nice holidays and we are always concern when one of our guest does not enjoy completely the stay. From your check in at Pavillon d'Orient to your check out, we are at your service 24 hours everyday.

Sébastien

Excellent in every way. The service deserves 6 stars out of 5. The hotel exceeded our expectations for Siem Reap. It is a little outside of the heart of Siem Reap and that could be a consideration to some - not to us. Siem Reap is mainly tourists and we were underwhelmed by that but by being outside and having a fulltime tuk tuk driver (the hotel provides it) was even better than always seeing and being in Siem Reap central. The breakfast is great with croissants from a French bakery, the spa/massage was top notch, as was the pool. We even tried the restaurant and were pleased with the food. There are some good restaurants in town. Angkor is worth the higher prices associated with Siem Reap. Cambodia charges to enter and to leave the country but there is only one Angkor and it is a site to behold. Highly recommend the hotel.

After reading reviews in TripAdvisor, we decided to book our stay in Siem Reap at Pavillon d'Orient, and we're so glad we did. Although we might have like being closer to the action of downtown, we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. It was the best accommodations in our month-long trip to Southeast Asia. The garden setting was magical, with the open-air lobby and restaurant and beautiful water-fall-edged swimming pool and koi pond. The staff was amazing - always at the ready to help. They even offered cold water to me while I was sitting at the (free) computer. Free use of a tuk-tuk is offered either for the evening or for all day, depending on the time of year (I think), so going into town in the evening was not a problem, although we usually ate in the hotel restaurant which served tasty food at a reasonable price all day long. A bountiful breakfast buffet with eggs to order was a great start to the day. Our flight did not leave until evening, and the hotel graciously allowed us the use of a guest room for the entire day (subject, of course, to availability).
