Climbing to the top is difficult as the steps are very big. hence advisable to visit early. Good vantage point for sunset as well. Carry a lot of water as its hot and humid.

We spent two times to watch sunset
1. Watch sunset at Bakheng hill
2. Watch sunset at Pre Rup
Both are excellent place to see

Like: nothing like it, nice view from top
Dislike: the staircase is very steep, especially going down. One Korean tourist tripped and fell down with some serious bruises and was in great pain, but she was taking pictures on the ground. She tripped over stones.

It was a wise decision to start here as the crowds had not yet arrived and climb up was really difficult. The morning energy definitely helped. Admittedly, because of the weather in September, the view from the top was nothing spectacular - just the barren grounds of the temple and the trees that surround it - but it felt like a small victory to conquer the steps. We took about half an hour exploring the complex.

One of the few temples where you can actually climb to the very top and see amazing views all around you. Sunsets here are supposed to be amazing but the rain put a dampner to our plans for this. Still worth visiting and please wear sensible shoes (steps are narrow and steep).
