“Relaxing boat ride”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

It is incredible how a boat ride can be so relaxing! Our fourth visit to this village and nothing has changed except the level of the water. Children swimming, boats returning with their catch, people repairing their nets, people fishing and everyone going on with their daily chores. Children wave as we pass by with big smiles on their faces. On reaching the Tonle Sap lake, we are still awed by its vastness. We took some photos and the boatman suggested we return as there is a storm brewing. A nice way to spend a day after being templed out!

“Floating Village adventures”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Our first time in Siem Reap we wondered what living in a local floating community might be like. We traveled by 'tuk-tuk', $20 for the return trip, to the checkpoint for the boat trip to the 'Floating Village'. The price was around $20 per person and we recommend you barter for the best price. The relaxing boat ride took 45 minutes to the village. We hadn't seen anything like it before ! You can get a drink and a meal at a floating restaurant and for an extra $10 dollars per boat you can take a stress relieving cruise through a mango grove - this was the best part of the day.

“A very different experience from the temples!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

We really enjoyed our day there.
Thanks to our very nice tuk tuk driver we payed only 15$ for the boat! We heard that some tourists pay much more. The village was very nice, and the forest in the water very impressive. You can see how people fish in the lake. The tuk tuk for the day was not very expensive (his name Ouk Keatha, adress ukkeatha@gmail.com).
On the way back you can stop at the some temples (part of the remote temples group) which are really beautiful). It's really worth it since it's on the way.
Also I would advise not to eat at the floating village since it is very expensive and not that good. Better to find something near the temples :)

“Mix Feelling Between Beauty and Poverty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

During my trip to Cambodia, I requested to see an area around the City of Siem Reap from my private tour guide. He took me to a few places in the area but Kompong Phluk is stuck with me mostly because I have a mix feeling about this place. It is a beautiful, calm and stunning view surrounding the river but the living condition of these floating village is heart breaking to me. Most of the house are in a poor condition. A lot of children playing on the bank of the river( they looked happy though). There is a small school and church in the community.

We got off the boat at some points and look at the view from the top of this house and a closer look of how these floating people really live on the bank of this river. There is no pressure for you to buy anything at all. It was an interesting and somewhat sad trip for me.

“No hassle trip ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

You pay $20 each at the entry point and for this you get a motorboat trip down the river to the village, the boat then continues around the 'floating village' and then you get dropped off at the jetty where you take a small wooden boat (2 passengers) paddled by a villager around the mangrove swamp, it's a nice peaceful trip through the mangroves. You then get taken in the paddle boat to a floating restaurant from where you get your original motorboat for a very quick trip out to the lake (5 minutes), it's huge but actually nothing much to see out there. Then back up the river to the tour starting point. No pressure to buy anything or tip. Interesting trip.
