This place has a pretty good rating here on Tripadvisor however after arrival the reality was completely different from what we expected (and what the hotel advertised and promised).

We were given 2 rooms on the ground floor. We would be ok with the fact that they messed up the booking, but we could not accept rooms with mold and a bad smell. Both rooms did not have connection to wifi and there were some stains on the bed sheets.

The only positive point was that the receptionist acknowledged these flaws and didn't ask us to pay for the first night. We left immediately and found another place to stay.

Do not use the Hongtep bus company through this hotel- I got the 'VIP' bus from siem reap to bangkok and was told it would be a 6 hour bus ride but I waited from 8am, they came about 9, and we didnt arrive in bangkok until around 8pm!!!! Also, the bus driver didnt communicate well with the people riding and made too many stops-bad company!

This hotel was a great price and the location wasn't bad either. It's walking distance to the center of town and you can always grab a taxi, if needed. It's very quiet and pleasant. The rooms were in good condition and it's a great spot to meet other travelers. Breakfast was included, but it was okay.

This place is as basic as they come (with a/c that is!) but for only $12/night who's complaining! We originally booked a room for the 2 of us with a fan for $9/night but after one night added the $3/night for aircon because it was just so hot and stuffy and the fan wasn't enough to alleviate it. The place is a moderate walk or an easy bike ride to the busy tourist "Bar Street" area of Siem Reap but far enough away to be nice & quiet. There were a couple little cafés nearby that we liked and it was easy to catch a tuk tuk to anywhere you want to go right out front. The free wifi worked just ok and my wife opted to go to a cafe to do the work she needed to do. In all... It's cheap, safe, and clean enough - an affordable roof over your head at night so you can spend your days exploring temples

We stayed here for one night, (Tuesday night) we were originally staying at the backpackers hostel in siem reap but we personally didn't like it. So turned up at palm garden lodge early morning hoping for a room. After a very friendly greeting we were shown our room. A double bed with a single aswell. En suite shower room. Fridge, tv, a/c and fan. Fresh linen and towels. The rooms are very pleasent. After unpacking. We had free coffee and asked about seeing the angkor wat temples. The owner talked us through our different options and when to go. He sorted it all for us. We left that day at 11am. We were picked up by a very friendly and genuine tuk tuk driver 'long' (no doubt spelt wrong) he was very patient in waiting for us as we took 5 hours to walk around all the temples. We also have some really good photos of us taken at different spots by him. This has added to our experience. Even if you aren't staying at garden palm lodge I would highly recommend their tours. Unfurtunately we didn't stay longer otherwise we would have booked more tours with both the company and their tuk tuk driver.
Palm Garden lodge also booked and sorted our bus to Phnom Phen even with very little notice.
The hostel is a little walk from town,(10mins) however it's very simple to walk to. (One straight road). we never use any tuk tuks to get around.I would
Completely recommend you stay here and take their tours.
Wish we had stayed longer

Nice place to stay, although not very close to the city center. The staff were very friendly, interested and helpful. Transportation could easily be arranged and a bus station pickup was included in the price. A small breakfast was served, which is just a nice extra considering the room rate. The rooms were quite warm, but the beds are comfortable and clean.

Not the closest to the city centre, but I don't think that's a bad thing as it's nice and quiet meaning great nights' sleep! It's just a short 10-15 minute walk to the market, bars and restaurants.

The staff are very friendly, and the rooms are very clean with a comfortable bed.

Breakfast is included for the price and was always delicious, and free tea/coffee all day was a nice inclusion

However, the shower in my room was broken (the pipe didn't fit the tap properly). I advised the staff who patched this up roughly but when the water was turned on it came away again. I advised the staff on three further occasions that it was still broken but nothing was done (which was quite annoying when I wanted a shower after a long, hot day exploring the temples). The air conditioning also didn't work which made for some sweltering nights with just a fan to try and cool the room down.

I also felt very pressured to use the tuktuk drivers at the hotel to explore the temples - I did for the first day, but after being assured he could speak English and it turning out he really couldn't, I decided to find another driver for my remaining days, but felt like I received daggers from some of the staff for this for the rest of my stay.

It's a shame as everything else at this location was pretty good.
