“CHANGED OWNERS, not the same, at all...”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

Le Grande Cafe *was* one of the most reliable, decent, well run, well located restaurants in Siem Reap, if not Cambodia, especially for the foreigner needing a taste of more than local fare. Alas, ownership changed long ago, and other than the name, nothing like it was before. Compounding the fact are those reading near five star ratings and either equating their experience like lemmings or giving into the lowest common denominator. ALL RATINGS BEFORE 2013 should be removed as they are for another restaurant, allowing them to ride on the previous owners hard work, attention to detail, quality ingredients, and reputation, to gouge tourists with unsubstantiated prices bringing another tourist trap to town. I forced down a giant cracker they called a pizza, and felt a twinge as Siem Reap lost another decent restaurant and hangout.

“Great Location and Ambience”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

We stopped here for a coffee and ice cream. The second floor has great views and allows you to people watch. It really has a grand feel. While we didn't have a full menu, the cappuccino was amazing. To put this into context, I am a total coffee snob, a character trait I developed while in Melbourne.

The wait staff, while very friendly, did not seem to be to engaged and had some trouble understanding what should have been a simple order. It didn't help that a loud lady, presumably the owner, kept yelling across the restaurant giving instructions. Most of the staff looked disinterested. The bathrooms were pretty gross. I always wonder if restaurant owners who are unable to distinguish a nice welcoming bathroom from a pit, have the same problem in the kitchen.

Putting it this way, what keeps attracting me to this restaurant is the great second floor balcony.

“cafe of the day”
Reviewed 4 July 2013

food was great even though they run out few dishes. And Khmer food were so nice, they suggested to have raw beef salad even sauce bit to hot for me. But terms of location were very good, choose balcony when you can see pedestrian walk from above and next to old market.

“More expensive, less attractive”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

One of our regular stop during our frequent trip to Siem Reap, when the need for some non-asian cuisine pops-up, this was definitely our last visit to the Grand Cafe.
The restaurant was totally empty, save for us, and we quickly found why. Smaller pizzas, much higher prices. A medium sized pizza, of rather poor quality, ok for one, priced at 9$ in Siem Reap, is definitely out of range.
Too bad, as the place is rather nice, and the staff, bored in an empty restaurant, was quite friendly and helpful.
