“Lovely stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013

Stayed for a few days while visiting Angkor Wat - staff were lovely, room was huge and the communal area is very cute and good atmosphere!
They provided us with our own tuk-tuk driver named Tommy (really great!) who picked us up from the bus station and took us around the temples, which was really convenient and good value.
It is a lovely walk from the hostel to the old market along the river, and there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars nearby.
Our only problem with the hostel was that we felt they were a bit pushy with their tuk-tuk tours...as soon as we were picked up (after a long bus journey) they were immediately trying to arrange to take us on a sunset tour that evening - we eventually got through to them that we didn't want to go, so instead they began arranging our trip to the temples the following day. We were slightly overwhelmed and didn't realise we were agreeing to a full-day tour - it did turn out to be a good option but we would rather have been given the chance to decide ourselves! They also told us that we wouldn't be able to cycle around the temples as they were too far apart, but we did see a lot of people on bikes so we ended up a bit disappointed that we had been put off the idea. It was a bit of a struggle to convince them that we wanted a day to ourselves - no tours, no guides!
But as I said, it did turn out to be a good option, and Tommy was really good company around the temples so we did enjoy our experience overall!
Would definitely recommend Happy as a place to stay, but make sure let them know from the beginning if you decide you don't want to do their tours!

I never thought that traveling in another country is this easy, cheap and fun thanks to Happy Guest House. They sent free tuktuk pick up from the airport and also provide tuktuk to take us around the temples. There are always tuktuk drivers at the guest house to take you where you want to go. They also provide reliable, cheap and fast transportation for us when we decided to cross the border in Poipet to Thailand.
The food is very delicious and the serving ample! You should try out their iced coffee too!
The room is basic but it is clean. I am not sure if it is the cheapest but it is very affordable and with the quality of their service you definitely get more than what you paid for. Which brings me to the primary reason why I gave Happy Guest House 5 out 5 -- the owner and staff. The owner Chhorpoan greeted us with genuine delight and was always there to make sure our stay was delightful. the receptionist Bon Sov is very funny and was so kind to find us a taxi for the price that we quoted. I also loved interacting with other staff like Koun, Sophy and Nin. It was really a wonderful place to stay in when you are in Siem Reap, so wonderful that I miss the place already.

Room Tip: Depending on the weather, a fan room would suffice other than getting an AC room. The rooms near the...

Happy guest house is defiantly the place to stay when in siem reap!! The hotel is of amazing quality for the price you pay, the staff are extremely pleasant, friendly and very welcoming. We would often sit at the bar downstairs at night instead of finding a bar in the town as it was such a brilliant atmosphere. Rooms are huge and very clean and well looked after and the food is great! They have standard western food as well as local Khmer food. Their tours of the temples are very good value for money and the hotel staff take you around for the day themselves! Will defiantly be visiting here again next time we are in town.

Got free tuktuk pick up at the bus station and end up hired the driver for the whole trip at SR. Mr. Peak was very knowledgeable and informative about the places to visit and drove safely and conveniently.
The GH is located in the old backpacker spot of SR, walking distance to convenience store, Royal park, tourism info center, and iternet cafe if u need more sophisticated connection then the free service at the GH. Takes only 10 minutes to Night market and Pub Street and other attraction such as National Museum.
Stayed for 4D3N, the room was big enough, nice and clean, AC run well. Bathroom was sufficient, equipped with H/C water shower, clean toilets.
Staffs were very helpful and friendly. Restaurant is served local and international dishes in average price and taste nice.
GH can arrange day trip with personal arrangement directly with their associate tuktuk drivers and Apsara dance dinner in a very nice restaurant for reasonable price.
Happy stay is what i can summarise my stay at the GH on Siem Reap

On my first traveling experience, only by chance did we come upon this lovely guest house and I couldn't ask for more. Very accommodating and friendly. Near to the temples, clean and comfortable rooms, great food and great value for money. Laundry service, bike rental, tours and tickets available on request.
All the staff couldn't have been nicer, from the cleaners and tuk-uk drivers, to the people on reception, some speaking up to four different languages! I would highly recommend the Happy guest house to anyone looking to stay in Siem Reap.

A charming place with excellent food, friendly personnel and cozy ambiance. There is everything you need computers, tour advises, bus tickets, money exchange and good Wi-Fi. At one point we were feeling that we can stay in the guest house all the time, relax and enjoy. Special greets to the tuk-tuk driver Mr Koeun!

Date of trip: August 18-22, 2013 (4 days 4 nights). Traveled with a friend.

Happy Guesthouse truly lived up to their name: to make visitors HAPPY during their stay in the Kingdom of Wonder. I am absolutely recommending this to everyone planning to visit Siem Reap and Angkor.

First, the value for money is excellent. Its rooms have no unnecessary amenities that the traveler may not use. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are clean and hot/cold showers are very easy to operate. All of these at the fraction of what you get from other hotels within Siem Reap area. The ambiance is relaxing. It's not too fancy, nor too empty. It is just right for relaxation.

Second, the food is amazing and the portions are generous. I liked that they offer a wide range of selections from Khmer, Western and Asian food, which are surprisingly cheaper compared to other restaurants in the Pub Street area.

Third, the staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. Many thanks to Ms. Chorrpoan, the guesthouse manager, for excellently attending to the needs and questions of the guests (such as tour prices, restaurants, and basically everything you would want to know about Siem Reap). Also many thanks to the hardworking staff who are as attentive and helpful.

Fourth, their services for trips and excursions are amazing. They have excellent pre-arranged tours around the Angkor Area and there are also a fleet of tuktuk drivers that are as equally friendly, courteous and helpful as the staff. And of course, you get the best deals. Our tourguide (Mr. Sothoun Ok) was very knowledgeable about the sites in Angkor Wat, and he really maximized our time by selecting the best places to go around.

Lastly, the location is quite superb. You can walk from the guesthouse to the Royal Residences, the OId Market and Pub Street since it is quite near compared to other fancier hotels. It is near the river if you want some time to rest and observe people.

I am HAPPY that our first time in Cambodia was memorable and comfortable, thanks to Happy Guest House and their excellent services. For those of you who plan to go to Cambodia on a tight budget, do book a room in this place for a pleasant stay.
