The staff and srevice at The Kool Hotel were truly outstanding. Communication was super easy, and they seemed genuinely interested in making sure my stay and general Siem Reap experience was as wonderful as possible. Everything was comfortable, in excellent working order, and convenient. The hotel is a litle out of the center of town, making it fairly quiet, but tuk tuks were available just steps outside the door any time, and rides were very inexpensive. All the drivers had no trouble finding the hotel. Breakfast was nice, but only western selections were offerred. However, one morning I had some stomach upset so requested rice instead, and they immediately whipped it up, and it was quite delicious. I liked my experience so well, I ended up staying twice as long as I'd planned.
No luck with in-room wi-fi, but free computers were readily available for use on the 2nd floor, and they worked well.

Small, friendly, clean and comfortable; this hotel is a welcoming oasis after a tiring session touring the wonderful temples of Angkor. It's near the airport road only a short $2 tuk-tuk ride to the centre of town.
Warm and friendly staff, clean spacious rooms with good aircon, particularly comfortable beds and nice decor. The in-room wifi is very slow but the computers on the first floor for guests' use are much faster.
The included a la carte breakfast and other meals takie in the restaurant were well prepared and served with a lovely Cambodian smile. The pool in the small garden at the back of the hotel is a particularly nice spot to relax.
The hotel attracts a team of 7 tuk-tuk drivers who operate a self managed and well oiled system of temple tours with fixed prices depending on the area/distances involved. This neatly takes the hassle out of bartering and fighting off rival drivers as they take their tourists in turn. Our driver "Sokha" spoke good English and provided excellent service throughout our fivenight/four day stay at the hotel.
Overall we think that this hotel deserves its high ranking on TA. We would definitely stay here again based on great value, comfort and friendly service.

We had a lovely time in the Kool hotel and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is situated just of a main street and there is a shuttle bus running in the evening to take you to the old town. Other option is a tuk tuk for about 2$ per trip.
The hotel is also offering free pik-up by tuk tuk from the airport, otherwise taxi costs are 7 $.
Hotel staff was always smiling and willig to help us with everything. Breakfast choise was excellent and one of the best we had on our travels in Vietnam/Cambodia. We also tried lunch once, which was also very good and reasonably priced ($ 3). The pool is lovely and ideal to have a short break in the afternoon.
Rooms were nice decorated with very clean and modern bathrooms. Only downside would be the beds, which were a bit hard. But otherwise everything was perfect and we really loved the fact that this is a small hotel with very individual service.
Best option to explore Angkor is in our opinion by tuk-tuk (between 15-20$ depending how far you go). We always found the tuk-tuk driver very friendly and they could also speak a bit of English and suggest a route to visit. We also rented a car and a guide for a day, but be aware that if you go to places further away it might be more expensive (i.e. 40-45$ for the car to Kbal Spean and Banteay Srey and $ 20-25 for a guide).

My wife and 2 young sons stayed at the Kool Hotel for 4D3N. While it is certainly not a luxurious hotel, the facilities are more than adequate. We were readily picked-up at the airport as we arrived and brought to the hotel in about 15 minutes. While we arrived quite early (8AM), we were readily checked in and brought to our rooms where our luggage was already waiting.

The room was fairly small, we were in an Indra room with a king and twin bed. The floor was not carpeted and as we would find out later, this was quite necessary as temple hopping brought its share of dust and mud. There was a TV with over 90 channels albeit most of them in foreign languages such as Thai, Korean, Malay etc, but with a smattering of English language channels, which included most of the important child entertainment networks. There was free WiFi service throughout the hotel and a couple of PCs for use by guests at the 1st floor. The pool just behind the restaurant was quite small though we never really managed to take a dip in it.

The breakfast served offered fresh fruits and an ala carte menu featuring mainly western fare such as omelletes, bagels and sandwiches. Nothing really special but at least quite filling, enough to power you through a full day of temple hopping.

The hotel is a short tuk tuk ride away from town as well as from Angkor Wat. There is a free shuttle to the old market at night. There were a number of eating establishments just outside of the hotel along the main road but we mostly kept to the restaurants in town. The hotel also arranges for transport to the temples and elsewhere.

What to me stands out about Kool Hotel was the friendliness of the staff. From the receptionists to the driver to the restaurant crew and even the cleaning ladies. Everybody was always ready to greet you with a smile and attend to your needs. There were some miscommunications admittedly as their command of English is far from perfect but certainly no major hassles.

The room rate we got was also quite good and coupled with the excellent service, I would certainly not hesitate to stay at the Kool Hotel again supposing I do return to Siem Reap.
