“very nice place, very nice people”
Reviewed 23 April 2011

I stayed at Ta Som with a friend for three nights. The place is nice and cozy, very clean, and the people running it are equally nice. The breakfast included was also a nice treat. We also had the pleasure to meet Moori, who works at the guesthouse and is one of the tuk tuk drivers. He was very nice, accomodating, and had a very good knowledge of the whereabouts of Siem Reap. The guesthouse also is in a good location, farely close (walking distance) to the downtow area and the old market.

Excellent service. Hospitable staff. Great/cheap food. We really had a fun stay here. And I would recommend this B&B to everyone who wants to save money and at the same time enjoy their stay in Siem Reap.

The owner, Mr. Meng, replied to our emails and inquiries promptly. He had our group picked up from the bus terminal (We came from Vietnam - Phnom Penh) for free. We also enjoyed the welcome drinks, free fruit basket and breakfast. We stayed here for 2 nights and we got our room for only $15 a night. And we got to use their computers, too. Our beds were big and comfy enough. The rooms were very clean, too. If you want to go the night market/pub street, you can just ride the tuktuk for a dollar or you can rent a bicycle for the whole day for $8. I suggest the latter. Also, on our last day, they even helped us find a taxi going to Thai border for $25. I'd stay here again on my next trip!

I would strongly recommend Ta Som guest house. The rooms are very clean, teh location is quiet, they change towels and they provide a free bottle of water per person, toilette paper, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and a new comb every day. Breakfast is more than a start. We usually took an omelet with some vegetables, fruit and a huge french style bread. We couldn't have lunch after that. They have three computers at the lobby with free internet and free wi-fi is also available. They sell bus tickets with free pick up at the guest house and if you arrive on your own you can call them and they will also pick you up for free at the airport or bus station. We were planning to stay two nights and finaly stayed five. I would definetely come back in the future.

ADVANTAGE:
The staff are the nicest we have encountered in Asia.
The rooms were large
Bathroom was large
Everything was very clean
Great but basic breakfast (quite a few options) but we got the eggs with bread and fruit
They organise any tours cheaper than anywhere else eg you pay $13 - 15 for tuk tuk around the temples. Most other places quoted $15 - 20. Our Tuk Tuk driver Morea spoke great English and was very enthusiastic. They also organised our bus to Bangkok for $8 each and the transfer was much smoother than I expected.
They can organise a massage in your room for $6 (again cheaper than if you go to the main ones on the street)
Family run place and you can see that everyone works well together as they are all happy and wanting to make sure that you are happy too.
Free daily small bottled water.

DISADVANTAGE
10 min walk from the main part of town but this is an advantage too as the street it is on is more quiet. It was definitelty worth the walk or the $1 for a tuk tuk into town. The hotel has thier own tuk tuk and they can take you in asap.

I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE ESPECIALLY THOSE ON A SMALL BUDGET (if only all other hotels were this price $15 and provided such great service.)

Ta Som B&B is located near the town centre, but is very quiet in the night, so you will get a good night rest after exploring Angkor Wat. The rooms are clean and comfortable for what you pay for it, with a daily room service and free bottles of water for the guests. In the morning there is a choice of cooked breakfast provided as well as some fresh fruits and coffee of tea. To explore the temples it makes sense to use the recommended by the guesthouse Tuk Tuk drivers, who are very helpful and polite.

Stayed at Ta Som late December 2010 with friend, very good value highly recommended.
The guest house provided travel information and can arrange all trips etc, though they do try to get you to use their staff for the trips, hich I guess is natural!!
Cambodia is very cheap to eat and travel, the staff at the guest house were very polite and helpful. Clean rooms, good food and helpful, highly recommended.
