“Golden times at the GB resort!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2011

We first arrived in Siem Reap in a torrential downpour but were quickly escorted to the hotel by Ran who became our tour guide for the rest of the trip (email: sokharanet@hotmail.com) - definitely recommended for tours and airport pick ups as he was reliable and a wealth of information. Provided us with cold water and helped us avoid the hordes of package tours around the areas in a very comfortable car with air conditioning all for a reasonable price.

The hotel when we got there was a pleasant surprise- very well decorated, cosy and most importantly friendly! we stayed in the villa with the rooftop bath and the sun loungers were lovely after a hard day of temple trudging as was the pool. They provided toiletries as well as bathrobes and slippers which is always nice. The staff were especially helpful with no request being too difficult. The breakfast, although maybe a little slow in arriving, was very good with four a la carte choices with coffee/tea and a very nice fruit salad. We recommend the pancakes/ french toast!

Four of us stayed at the Golden Banana Boutique Resort in August 2011. We loved every minute of it! The staff were lovely and friendly and always happy to help you. There was a very relaxed and chilled vibe to the place and we instantly felt at home. The rooms are lovely and spacious, the furniture has great character and very Cambodian in style. Good ammenities in the room. We loved the breakfasts, rather than a boring buffet, they offered 3 choices (croissants & breads, eggs or pancakes), which they cooked fresh for you. They all came with amazing fresh fruit and yoghurt and the coffee was awesome!!
The location is perfect too, only a couple of minutes walk to the main town area (or $2 in a tuk tuk).

Staff were incredibly helpful at booking private cars/guides or tuk tuks.

We honestly loved this hotel and will recommend it to anyone going to Siem Reap.

We stayed in the Golden Banana Boutique Resort for three nights in late July 2011. It was a fantastic stay. The rooms are huge, on 2 levels. Downstairs is the bedroom & bathroom & upstairs is an open deck area with outdoor chairs, an outdoor bath & shower.
Great location, with a 5 minute walk across the bridge to the old market area & another 5 minutes to Pub Street. If its raining, it's a $1.00 tuk tuk ride to the main area of town.
I cannot speak more highly of the staff. From check in, housekeeping, bar & restaurant staff, all are friendly & helpfull & always up for a chat if you are sitting alone. The owner who you see around the hotel is also great & always says hello as he is going around, looking after things.
Breakfast is included in the price & has a reasonable range of options. It is not a buffet & is not massive but gets ytou through till you get into town the sample the sensational bakeries.
We are going back to Siem Reap next year & will definetley be staying at the Golden Banana again.

I emphasized in the GB Boutique Hotel because GB has its Resort, Hotel and B&B, and they are nearby or next door buildings.

We stayed in the GB boutique hotel, a twin standard villa (duplex).
At first, when we stepped into our room, we found the stairs was too steep for us. Despite of that, we got used to it after a few times up and down, and walked as fast...
No fear about it =)
Room is spacious and clean with full amenities and complimentary bottled water everyday in our room. Each floor has its individual air-conditioning unit and ceiling fan, made the room cooling enough. It is well decorated and the view from balcony overseeing the swimming pool was lovely. The shower is powerful and good, loved the shower after a day of sightseeing =)

The pool looks so nice and the hotel staff cleans it every morning. What a pity we have no chance to swim since our trip was too short =(

Breakfast is delicious. Although only 3 sets to choose, but it's adequate and we loved it, especially the fresh fruits and the eggs =)

The hotel staffs are very helpful and friendly. They helped us to arrange airport transfers and tuk tuk driver for our tour. They made us problem free, thanks to them.

Hotel location is very good, walking distance about 5-10 minutes to the old market / night markets and pub street. However, this hotel is situated a few steps back at a small alley. It's okay to walk during day time, but after dark, it would be more convenient to get a tuk tuk ($1 / $2) to get out / come back, especially during wet season.

One more thing that I noticed was, this hotel is so environmental friendly with nice lush around, and there was a "friendly" mosquito inside our room. I called it "friendly" cause it didn't attack me in the way... and the hotel provides insects spray... so, not an issue =)

After all, we truly had a comfortable stay in this hotel and it was good value for money.
The stay here made our trip more valuable.

This is not a 5 stars hotel, but this hotel is recommended if you'd like to stay in a cozy and personality hotel at a good location within a budget.

Great Hotel, close to old market and pub street. But still very quite and tranquille. Attentive staff and fantastic rooms with boutique still bath room. Overall great stay. I am sure that I will come back when I am next time in Siem Reap.

The name of this place gives a western appeal to it... while the Golden Banana may sound a bit funny - it definitely lives up to its reviews on TA. On arrival, after our 5 hr journey from Phnom Penh, we were greeted by warm smiles and we were seated in the comfy chairs. Drinks came out and we had all the staff come to take our bags and fill in our details. We then made out way to our rooms up some long, high stairs. The stairs lead us to a room high up and gives us a good view of the skyline. SO perhaps the climb was worth it. Proximity to the city center and tuk tuks were very convenient and we actually enjoyed spending time in the resort, by the pool side, with a waterfall and tropical sun chairs. An omnipresent male staff presence meant we could get help with bags and heavier items up the steep stair case. the six of us also had a giggle at the artwork in the rooms, which all added to the humourous vibe of this resort. but it made us happy and refreshed - and we felt then that we were on a holiday. thank you golden banana!

Like much of Cambodia, it does not cost much, and yet is great value. The hotel organize pretty much anything, so it is really easy to get things done for you at a very low cost. Perhaps costs a little more than other hostels in the area, but a lovely place with lovely people, and nowhere near as expensive as the absurd tourist hotels scattered elsewhere. Love the eggs and fruit breakfasts, and the cute yet modern and comfortable rooms.
