Had a great time at the GB Resort (the best of the 3 parts of the GB complex). Beautiful clean, cool rooms and pool and the friendliest and most welcoming staff of our trip (even if they did misunderstand occasionally).
Helen fell in Love with one of the Boys and we got totally included in Cambodian life - MotorBikes - Parties, the lot.

This isnt a 5 star hotel on a 5 star street - but its right in the thick of real Cambodian life (take your laundry to the lady next door). Location great, 5 mins walk to pub street and market.

Well organised with Tuk Tuk drivers, guides and onward travel - they'll sort it and it wasn't at all overpriced. Really really had a lovely family stay.

Tucked away down a quiet road, the Golden Banana Resort is the latest, and best, of the three Golden Banana facilities. The Resort has good size rooms (simply but tastefully furnished), are clean and well maintained and surround a great pool.

The Resort is walking distance from Siem Reap town centre and, (like all Siem Reap hotels) just a short Tuk-Tuk or car ride to Angkor Wat.

Our room had a roof terrace as big as the bedroom, with outdoor bath and shower. We had an indoor shower and other conventional facilities downstairs too!

Breakfast was simple (fruit / bread / jam / eggs / tea & coffee) but quite adequate.

The hotel arranged a driver with car to collect us from the airport and he (with either Tuk-Tuk or car) took us out each day to the temples / sightseeing. Nice guy and good value.

All in all, not a five star hotel (those are available in Siem Reap but are Much more expensive) but good value and a nice base. We'd stay again

My partner & i stayed at this little piece of paradise only last month ( November,08 ). It was truly a wonderful experience and a peaceful place to be. Our room was called BUTTERFLY PEE ..........hehe.
Only just a few minutes from the dust heat & bustle that Siem Reap township can be on most days & only a short US $1 Tuk Tuk ride from the old market area. But a really easy 5 minute walk through the local village to all the food , foot massages and shopping you might require from the stunning Cambodian people. Every food you can imagine can be found here in Siem Reap.

We stayed in the new resort which was just beautiful !!! Although not complete then....I am sure it would be by now as it was all systems go and we noticed the developing changes in the short 5 days we were there. We had a quiet room overlooking the pool and the room was clean , lovely furnished and serviced impecably daily. Mind you this room was BRAND NEW . It was air conditioned , an outside bathtub on the verandah for that cool evening soak , a safe, flat screen TV , a mini bar fridge , a great bed, fantastik bathroom, views over the pool and across the local village roof tops. All you need can be found here. This hotel is NOT ... a big concrete structure of a hotel like the many big ones you will see in Siem Reap. The GOLDEN BANANA is small enough to offer each guest one on one service & you will find it mostly quiet and peaceful. I see no reason at all why you would not be satisfied with this hotel which offers wonderful Cambodian staff at your service. Truly friendly and there to assist.
Thankyou again to the great staff & management of the Golden Banana...... we can not wait to get back there sometime very soon.......................

Heard about the Golden Banana B&B through the Lonely Planet guide for Cambodia. The B&B was highly rated, decided to go to the hotel, which would provide hotel facilities (according to the Golden Banana B&B website - ---).

In the Golden Banana Hotel, you get a villa style room. On the ground level of the room we had, there was a reception/lounge area. There was a space for a TV, but obviously it had not yet been installed in our room! There was a mini-bar however.

Then you take the stairs up to the bedroom and bathroom area. If you have any children, have any disabilities or have a general fear of heights then these stairs are going to present a big problem.

There is no banister, the steps are very steep, the stairs are solid granite or stone and there are gaps between the steps. To add to that, they are also very slippery!

Once you've managed to complete the climb up, then you'll be rewarded with the bedroom. It had a very rustic feel to it.

Both the bathroom and the bedroom were clean. However when we first checked in the bathroom and bedroom had too many mosquitoes. We were advised this was unusual and the room got resprayed with insecticide.

We asked them for a mosquito coil as well, but they didn't have any.

After tackling the stairs and the mosquitoes, we thought it would be good to have a cup of tea. However no kettle was provided in the room, and when we asked for a kettle we were advised that there aren't any.

The final nail in the coffin was hearing the guests flush the toilet in the villa style room next door to us in the middle of the night.

The hotel room walls are too thin and you can hear everything, this does not make for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

It is safe to say we checked out the next morning. The hotel appeared to take some of the comments on board (such as no kettle) however apparently no one else complained about the walls.

I find the hotel website misleading (---). The hotel seemed to be in a busy area although I had expected it to be a few minutes out in a quieter area.
