“Amazing Place. Tranquility.”
Reviewed 27 August 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on there 4 night package in April.

Landed at the airport with the driver waiting for us, and offering us cold drinks from the car, which really was a great start. Interesting drive from the airport along dirt roads to the hotel and it was fantastic. Away from all other hotels is Siem Reap, which is why i'd picked it, and we really weren't disapointed The villas themselves were great, really clean, and so comfy.

The staff were really welcoming - they spoke to us by first name, and couldn't have been more accommodating.

The temples is Siem Reap were amazing also (it's what we went for!) The guide and driver from the hotel were great also. Really helped us see the best of Siem Reap.

Also, if you like wild life and seeing lizards, it's so tranquil by the hotel pool that if you just look around you're bound to see loads.

Definitely will be back. Thanks for a great stay.

We only stayed at Sojourn for one night, unfortunately our budget didn't allow us to stay much longer. We decided on Sojourn after reading all of the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, and we certainly weren't disappointed. The hotel is like an oasis! The villas, the landscaping, the pool, everything was incredible. The driver picked us up from the other hotel we were staying at in Siem Reap, in a car! And when we arrived at Sojourn, the staff greeted us by name! We had arrived before check in time because we wanted to take a cooking class, which was fun and educational. We visited a nearby family in the Treak Village and got to meet their adorable young children. We made a couple of dishes in an outdoor kitchen and then enjoyed our efforts under a canopied hut that sat on a little pond filled with catfish. It was truly picturesque!

The villa we stayed in is larger than our apartment, and was beautifully decorated. The bathroom was amazing with lovely little toiletries. There's also a private outdoor shower that we took advantage of. I'm really sad that we didn't get to stay there longer, but at the same time I feel like I wouldn't have appreciated it so much if I were spoiled for more than a few nights. This hotel is so fabulous, you won't regret booking it. It was the best way for us to end our unforgettable trip to Cambodia.

The moment we arrived we were greeted by a very helpful Manager Eerewon who went over the facilities the tours we had prebooked and what was available to us during our week long stay.

Our room was lovely beatufully set out and a very relaxing atmosphere with a gorgeous bathroom with a lovely bath with a waterfall inlet for the water, a great shower inside and a lovely outside shower in the private back yard.

The bed was very comfortable King sized and plenty of room with two lovely day bed come twin seat couch with a removable table for food and drinks.

The verandah had a lovely protected area with a lovely fan that created a nice air movement wihst sitting at the outside table enjoying a book, having a couple of on e of the delicious cocktails our special favourute being the chocolate daquiry just heaven!.

The pool was a welcome cool down after a long day visiting the sensational Ankor Wat, Ankor Thom and others including where Tomb Raider was filmed with Angeline Jolie. Our guide for the Wats tour was from Beyond Adventures and was very friendly knowledgeable and informative throughout the day long tour. The ancient Wats were might blowing examples of construction technigues from centuries ago when everything was moved by Elephant some 70km from Siem Reap!.

I cannot speak higher of the surperb consistent high sytandard of the food, attentive staff and great feel to the place making our stay with my wife's sister and brother-in-law one that we will remembe very fondly for years to come!.

I take my hat of to the positive effect that the Sojourn Villas and HUSK NGO are having on the Treak village that surrounds this unique place in their ongoing endeavours to improve the way of life of the local villagers through providing the basics of clean filtered water that is not available to far too many of the locals.

The highlight for me and my brother-in-law Gordon was spending " A day in the life" with a local family which opened our eyes to true poverty that the villagers cope with everyday but at the same time exhibit a happy disposition despite the tough times they experience to feed themselves and their children on a dialy basis! The family wew shard acooked lunch with of soup, a local fruit abit like apple, Prohout a local dish all of which I found very tasty and the beautiful three boys the family we shared with had and very proud parents.

I and my wife Eds highly reccomend a stay at Sojourn Villas and to take the opportunity to explore what lif e is like for the local villagers!. It really makes you appreciate what we have got and what others don't have, a very humbling experience!

Cheers

Sojourn Siem Reap was fantastic. The rooms (villas really, we were in number 4), the pool, the restaurant, the landscaping - all were clean and beautiful. The staff were amazing, from the moment we arrived at the airport and were greeted with our driver, to walking through all of the tours we'd chosen when we checked in, to any questions that we had during our stay - even allowing us a later breakfast than expected when we spent more AM time at the temples than expected. We booked an English speaking driver for 2 days and a guide for 1, and both were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is near the Treak Village, which we walked to/near during the evenings and saw very picturesque rice paddy fields and life in Siem Reap.

There is no question - if you are in Siem Reap, stay here.

A truly brilliant hotel. We were here in July with our ten month old girl. The rooms are really lovely and include a turndown service. The food is excellent and includes a different special every day! The staff are wonderful and knew all our names. We had the same driver to the temples everyday and he was wonderful. This really is the place to be in Siem Reap. I think a spa will be opening soon in the Soujourn which will be a great addition. We were so pleased that we chose this hotel ... definitely give it a try!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights when visiting the temples. The Hotel is a 15 min ride from the city centre / Angkor Wat by Tuc Tuc, which you can hire at the hotel for $3 (all night) or $15 (full day). We really enjoyed the peaceful environment of the hotel and after long days visiting the temples staying in a hotel away from the crowds proved to be the right thing for us. Rooms are spacious and clean and there is a very nice swimming pool area. Food at the restaurant is amazing and not overpriced, so we ended up eating in 2 out of 3 nights. Staff is also super friendly and very efficient in organizing guides, tuc tuc etc. I can only recommend this place.

About 15 minutes after being picked up at the airport, my husband and I found ourselves wondering what on earth we had gotten ourselves into. The representative from Sojourn Boutique Villas was driving us further and further away from "civilization" while trying to avoid gaping muddy holes on a narrow dirt road. Then suddenly, like Brigadoon rising from the mist, we caught sight of a gleaming white wall - the main entrance to Sojourn Boutique Villas. Stepping out of the car and being greeted (by name) by the thoughtful staff, we began to indeed realize what we had gotten ourselves into... a little slice of paradise.
If you are seeking a little privacy, quiet relaxation, and an attentive staff (though not overbearingly so), then you must consider staying here. After each day of temple trekking and outdoor exploration, it was pure bliss to arrive back at the hotel and indulge in a swim in the wonderfully non-crowded pool and sip on a Mojito at the swim-up bar. One of the most memorable experiences of our time in Cambodia occurred late one afternoon when the monsoons swept through the area for a couple of hours. We watched in contentment from the porch of our villa as the raindrops bounced off the beautiful garden flowers and the lightning and thunder put on an impressive show.
Sojourn is off the beaten path, but we consistently found that a tuk-tuk drive into town took less than 10 minutes. And really, those 10 minutes are a crucial difference between viewing Siem Reap through a purely tourist lens (which would be the case if you stayed at a hotel in town) and viewing it as a scrappy city still struggling to re-establish itself after so many decades of political devastation. If you stay here, you absolutely must do the "Treak Walk & Talk Tour". This is your ticket to seeing firsthand what life is like for families in the neaby village and also learning about how Sojourn is working to support and educate these families. Simply hearing the shouts of "hellooo!!" from children and their giggles as you respond is worth the few hours away from the temple tours.
When we return to Cambodia (after visiting our "if" changed to "when"), we will absolutely stay at Sojourn again. Our stay there was educational, luxurious, and peaceful... so follow the bumpy dirt road!

Room Tip: If possible, go during the rainy season to ensure room options and vacancies.
