We only had a weekend away so wanted somewhere great, this was it! It's pefect if you want to stay somewhere very small, out of the way and quiet. We stayed in Room 11 in the hotel, was glad to have mini bar, conditioner, proper soap, thank you! The staff really make the place, so kind and friendly. Our driver 'Mr.How' could not have been any nicer, suggesting places to go and what to see in such a short time but not the least bit pushy.

The meal on the pond was a lifetime memory, fantastic food though too much sorry! it was a hot still night so bear that in mind if you are not used to the heat and I was glad I wore flipflops as the path was muddy after the rain. I had a few tears in my eyes when I got back to our room and the bed had a big heart made out of orchid petals and chocolates!

The food in the hotel is excellent, such a huge choice for breakfast and after being in Singapore drinks for $2 was a huge treat! The hotel is also close enough to pop into Siem Reap for the evening, and close enough toi the temples. I really hope I can come back again here, thank you for the best intro to Cambodia.

Room Tip: Room 11 was lovely, spacious, no bath but huge shower. It's not 5 star luxury if that is what yo...

I stayed at Sojourn this past March as a solo, female traveler and had one of the most memorable experienced of my life. It was one of those truly amazing, surreal experiences that one can only hope to relive again sometime soon. Assuming you are open minded about the experience of staying in the midst of a charming, rural Cambodia village on the outskirts of Siem Reap, prepare to be amazed and to have your expectations thoroughly surpassed. The property is gorgeous and extremely comfortable with the utmost care and attention paid to each little detail from the moment their driver greets you at the airport to the moment you depart. Your Sojourn experience would be remiss if you do not take advantage of the Day in the Life tour. The tour enables you to more fully appreciate the sustainable change that the Sojourn's responsible approach to tourism drives. Highly recommended if you are looking to experience Siem Reap beyond Ankgor Wat. The Sojourn is now emblematic to me of what a true social business should strive to be and I applaud the owners and entire staff for a job very well done. I will return soon - please keep up the amazing work!

Room Tip: Cannot go wrong.

we loved it here - the hotel is small and quiet, quality is high and staff are delightful - it well deserves its place high on the trip adviser rating list. I cant imagine how they maintain the quality of the food with such an extensive menu and such small numbers dining there, but it was all delicious. Highly recommend the 1/2 day cooking course run from the hotel (they do a full day too) - I really enjoyed it & learned a lot about local cuisine & culture. Only regret - we wish we'd paid the extra for a villa. There seems to be only 2 Terrace Rooms & the small saving is not worth the lower quality of room location. The terrace rooms are nicely fitted out, but they are a bit dark and are upstairs immediately above the recepetion and restaurant area. Room 11 has a 'private terrace' but it is overlooking the entry gate and car park/tuk-tuk pick-up up point. Its not a very busy place, but compared to the villas overlooking the pool & gardens, there is no comparison. Also, in the morning, you get some noise from the staff setting up quite early, which I am sure you wouldn't get with the villas out in the gardens beyond the pool. Even so, although we regretted our room choice, we wouldn't have missed this place - everything else about it is lovely and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Definitley go for a villa; whatever anyone says, the Terrace Rooms are not the same experience and t...

We stayed in one of the villas for 3 nights. We purchased a package which included the accommodation, breakfasts in the outdoor restaurant, a driver every day (same driver every day) until 9pm but we could pay extra per hour to have him longer, tours everyday, an English speaking guide who was absolutely fantastic and even advised on angles for some amazing photos at Angkor Wat and other attractions, packed gourmet lunches of our choice on 2 days which included wine if wanted, and 1 x massage each either Thai or relaxation - our choice. I was a bit disappointed that my hubby chose a place on the outskirts of Siem Reap but after arriving l know why he chose there and the travel to and from places was no hassle with our own personal chauffeur. From the time we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the staff there. We ate at the restaurant for breakfasts and dinner - superb food, great choices and the table service wonderful. The massages in our room were fantastic that we had one every night. The villas are quite big and the bed was huge, they have a table and chairs on the balcony with an outside fan to keep you cool, internet, a desk area, good tv channel selection, in room safe, huge wardrobe, tea and coffee facilities, refrigerator, massive bathroom with a really deep huge bath which doesnt have a normal faucet but the water runs down the end wall like a featurewall into the bath. The pool was sooo refreshing and a great poolside bar (more like in the pool) so you can even sit in the pool while having your drink. The poolside is just as welcoming with single and queen size padded lounges shaded by large umbrellas and pool towels provided. The gardens look enchanting and are well cared for and they spray weekly for mosquitoes so theres no fear of being bitten there. The villas have tours to the local village (Treak Village) where the majority of their employees are from but the afternoon we going it was pouring with rain and also have cooking classes but we chose not to attend - both for a cost. The Sojourn villas have taken on assisting Treak Village by providing fresh running water, teaching them to be self-sufficient, helping those interested in their education, they teach them English and a trade then they employ them at a reasonable rate rather than the pittance they would receive elsewhere. Our shower which was massive was in the bathroom but l would have loved to have stayed in the temple villa as l understand it has an outside shower. In a nutshell - if you're not happy here then you will never be happy - the best place and service l have ever stayed.
ohh only one downside which was the road into the villas - for a short distance (probably 1/2 km) we had to travel on unsealed, pot-holed, muddy road which was not a problem to us as we didn't have to wash the car every day - not the fault of Sojourn Villas though as its the public road but we did wonder on arrival where on earth the driver was taking us or if he was lost. We stayed there in August 2011. Would suit everyone - old, young, families, couples, even the Queen would love it lm sure

We stayed for 3 nights at this fabulous hotel. Staff could'nt be better, same for the food. We did the cookery course here and it was a great experience in fab surroundings. I can't fault this little hide away, my most favourite hotel in the world (and I travel far and wide).

We stayed 4 nights at the Sojourn in August 2011. I can't think of anything negative to say about this place!! We booked the 3-night Getaway and added an extra night. Included in the package were a private driver each day and night, breakfast (delicious!!!), a tour guide one day, a picnic lunch two days, a sunset picnic (wine, cheese and crackers, olives, etc, overlooking Angkor Wat), and one massage each. The package is more expensive than you can find in Siem Reap, but well worth it and still a bargain.

We were treated like royalty and called by name (although my husband laughed when they referred to him as "Stephanie"!). The staff is amazing and so, so friendly. I was extremely impressed by their kind attitudes towards guests, from the manager and driver to the waiters and massage staff. Having a private driver is such a bonus. The Sojourn provided us with a suggested itinerary but we were able to adapt and change it as we saw fit. It was so nice to not have to think about anything!!

The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from town (as another review said, don't get scared when the driver turns down a dirt road!), located next to a Cambodian village. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and there are only about 7 bungalows so it's all quiet and very private. The pool was great and had an underwater bar. The food here was the best we had in our 2 weeks in Cambodia and Thailand.

The rooms are luxurious. My only negative comment is that there is no luggage rack. The bathtub seats two easily and is filled up by water cascading down the granite wall behind the tub, like a waterfall. There is a huge indoor shower and a fantastic outdoor shower. Robes and slippers are provided. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were lounge chairs in the room, as well as an outdoor porch with a table and chairs.

We had a "destination dining" experience for my birthday and it is one of the most romantic things we've ever had. We had a private table over a lotus pond, lit by candles, with our own chef and waiter. Only one couple a night can book this experience and sitting there listening to frogs and other nightlife was an amazing experience. Check out their website for details and treat yourself!

Room Tip: We were in a Temple Villa and had an outdoor shower.

I should have written this review ages ago, but better late than never. We were booked in for a total of 3 nights but went back for another 3 nights. we stayed in both the Apsara, as well as Temple Villas. The rooms are very large, with excellent size bathrooms. (outside shower in temple villa is quite wicked) overlooking the swimming pool. This boutique hotel is very aesthetically and tastefully done. The decor is almost always done using indigenous material or artefacts, thus promoting local flavour.

The cuisine is excellent, especially in the quality of the meat and vegetables. Even an extreme dieter would find it hard to resist the temptations of the mashed banana and palm sugar toast in the mornings and the "amoks" (a typical cambodian dish) in the evenings.

Our driver and guide were excellent - both spoke good english and both were extremely patient with me. Sometimes my work would continue many hours past lunch time and they never once grumbled about it. they would take us wherever we wanted to go, whenever we wanted to go, suggesting the best of itineraries. they would wake up at 4 am and be spot on at 5 am....they even had me eating stuffed barbecued frogs....ha...

Last but not the least, the soul of the place is the staff. the hotel and staff seem to have the most harmonious marriage that makes for a perfect getaway. They are extremely friendly, courteous and the manager needs special mention - he did give us quite an insight into Cambodia as a whole - politics, history, people, culture, etc.

although it is not close to the temples or the city, it is so worth getting away from the hustle and bustle to a peaceful end after a busy day.

some minor hiccups not even worth mentioning, but apart from that, top quality and top stuff from a super team. kudos!
