“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2012

We have just had 4 nights at Sojourn and absolutely loved it. The staff are all so friendly and happy they remember your names and the service is very personalised. The rooms and food are great. It is out of town but no big deal as you can easily get a tuk tuk to town. The setting is rural, is peaceful and relaxing after busy days touring the temples. Pool is very good. We will be back.

Stayed here for 2 nights with sie girlfriends. Cannot fault a single thing. Staff were amazing, spoke great english and were genuinely friendly. Rooms fabulous and very modern. Pool great. Luxurious. Run by a couple who gives back to the community. Is about 10 min drive from town but can hire a driver (who will wait for you) for 5 dollars US. The driver was also very professional and informative. The massages were amazing, the staff so professional. Cannot recommend enough the cooking class, a real highlight. Would recommend to absolutely anyone.

I am reluctant to write a review for this beautiful hotel, because I want to keep it a secret! The staff make this place, as well as the owners/managers.It has a wonderful restaurant which should be listed on the places to eat in Siem Reap, a beautiful spa, lovely rooms and it's just a pleasure to stay here. I'll be returning as soon as I can. Thank you for looking after myself and my uncle so well recently. Do their package deal, their 3 day temple pass and sightseeing is wonderful value. Our lovely driver and guide were just terrific and made our Cambodia experience so wonderfully authentic - along with the hotel! This is a very pleasant place to stay, it is a little out of town but not far in a taxi or tuk tuk. The hotel driver is very obliging and drives safely and speaks good English. The approach to the hotel (nothing much more then a track) and the lobby area is a little underwhelming however this is a small hotel with only a handful of rooms/villas. In fact we were the only guests on our first night. The grounds and rooms are clean, the pool very nice and the staff superbly trained and very polite. It was nice to see the Australian owners interact with the guests and even get involved in pruning some of the plants near the pool! They have obviously put a lot of effort into their hotel. The hotel book in the room was refreshingly honest about not being able to guarantee having lizards in the room, we found some bugs and many dead flies in the morning just inside the door-this was about the only negative otherwise the air con was good along with a ceiling fan. Good value for money.

In general, the many positive reviews here are accurate and well deserved. Just be sure that you understand two points.

A) This facility is outside of town. You will have to take a taxi or tuk-tuk into Siem Reap proper. It's easy to do, not expensive and the staff will happily make arrangements for you. Just don't count on a leisurely stroll around the area. Once you are there, you have the facilities of the hotel to enjoy (which are very nice), and nothing else.

B) Their least expensive accommodations are a significant downgrade from the rest of their facilities. I would pay the extra money for a step up from that.

I would certainly go back, but keep these points in mind if they are important to you.

Great little sanctuary in the middle of dusty, noisy, touristy siem reap. Super friendly staff. Complimentary airport pickup is great, our guy was still waiting for us after our plane was delayed for a few hours in Vietnam. One morning we went to watch the Ankor sunrise at 5am, and they packed a breakfast lunch box for us. Super! They employ local staff who all try their best and genuinely try to please all the guests. Everything has a heartwarming ring to it, from the order-whatever-you-want breakfast to the in-house-massages. The round trip tuktuk service is great, as the same driver will drive you to town, and wait for you until you finish to drive you back - very safe!

We booked a private dinner overlooking the lily pond - however we couldn't see the food we were eating (tip - book the private chef before sunset (before 6pm), otherwise you will be eating in pitch black darkness and scared out of your wits!!)

If you are an expat living in Asia, you get a discount (i cannot remember exactly, i think around 10-20% off), which is a super bonus.

Room Tip: We booked a room with a outdoor shower (the most expensive option) however we did not use it once, a...
