“Great breakfast, staff give personal attention”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2010

We spent only one night here, which was a pity, as we would have gladly spent longer had we known rooms were available. As it turned out, we booked Le Meridien for 6 nights, and emailed the Sojourn for the last night as all the other hotels on our short list were full.
We had initially entered 2 adults and 2 children on the hotel's booking site, and the search showed no available rooms. However, when we emailed the hotel directly, we found that rooms WERE available, and we just had to pay an extra supplement for the kids!
We stayed in a Temple villa, and the kids were fascinated by the outdoor shower. There is a king sized bed in the room, and a single bed by the window. The room itself was spacious and comfortable enough, but the thin curtains did not keep out the heat or light very well, and we had to turn the aircon on at high speed during the heat of midday. We were also woken up early as the whole room became very bright when the sun rose. Just bring along an eye mask if you intend to sleep in.
Staff were uniformly friendly, and eager to please. They also made an effort to remember the names of the kids even though we stayed only for 1 night.
Breakfast was wonderful, and made fresh when ordered. We especially liked the fruit shakes and Khmer porridge.
The whole compound was pretty small, and we had to constantly make sure the kids didn't inadvertantly run out onto the driveway as it was quite near the restaurant,

The hotel is about 15min by car from town, so if nightlife and restaurants are what you are looking for, stay elsewhere. However, if you like peace and quiet in a natural setting, this fits the bill. A short stroll outside the hotel will bring you through a little village, and you can see the farmers at work, or children at play in their family compounds. Quite a refreshing change from large hotels.
Next time, we will split our stay between here, and another hotel closer to town.

I stayed at the Sojourn for 4 nights and it was worth every penny. The villas were beautiful as were the surroundings. It was a pleasure to go back to the hotel and have a cocktail in the pool after climbing over the temples all day in the extreme heat! All the staff were really lovely and sweet. So if you want a bit of affordable luxury Sojourn is the place to go!

A really pleasant, peaceful boutique hotel a few km out of Siem Reap. We had the penthouse suite, which was spacious (including a huge bed) and attractively kept. The pool was great, as well – particularly fun to sip cocktails on underwater stools. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would particularly recommend asking for Mr Vuthy as your driver – he was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to get along with, frequently going beyond the call of duty.

The hotel is involved in a number of worthwhile projects aimed at helping the local village, and it’s well worth going for a wander through the village – lots of pretty surrounding countryside.

One thing I would point out about this hotel is that it is a fair distance out of Siem Reap (about a 15 min drive), which isn’t ideal for popping out for a bite to eat or drink. Also, it’s south of Siem Reap – i.e. further away from the temples – which makes the day longer if you’re temple-visiting. We were told it was only 20 minutes’ drive to Angkor Wat which, frankly, is pie in the sky (it’s closer to 40).

A couple of other niggles – hot water wasn’t working when we were there (though they did explain and apologise for this), and the restaurant is slightly overpriced and lacks variety (which given, as I’ve said, you have to go all the way into Siem Reap to eat otherwise, isn’t ideal).

Sojourn was an extradordinary find in Siem Reap.
The staff were incredibly helpful, and the overall attention to detail was exceptional
Being out of town it was incredibly quiet, and the bungalows were beautiful.

I booked a villa at Sojourn based on other Trip Advisor reviews for my aunt and I. The staff was very courteous, from switching out the King bed in the Temple Villa to two twins to changing dates of our arrival (due to flight changes).

The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from "downtown" Siem Reap, but worlds away. There are two surrounding monasteries and you can hear music and the monks chanting early in the morning. Because it is such a small place (9 villas I think), you can feel like you've got the place to yourself. For those who want to be in the thick of things, Sojourn is not for you; but if you want a quiet oasis with lush gardens and a nice pool, its the right choice.

The food is excellent, although after several days there, I did admittedly tire of it. My only food related complaint would be the bread - but then again, most bread I've had in Asia does not meet my American standards. Dry, tasteless is the norm.

The staff are locals from Treak Village employed by the Aussie owners and are very pleasant, always smiling - so typical of the Cambodian people. Their English comprehension did lead to some mix-ups, but on the whole they are very accomodating, gracious and work hard to please you.

The rooms were spacious, very clean and modern and with excellent air conditioning. The water pressure in the showers was fabulous and a nice way to clean off after dusty "tomb raiding". The pool water was a bit warm, but that is not uncommon in warm after a day of the water heating in the sun. We were sung to sleep each night by small frogs outside out door.

I would definitely come back, if only for the fresh lime juice out by the pool. :D

This hotel is amazing. In a small village about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Siem Reap it is the perfect place to relax after visiting the temples of Angkor.

The setting is beautiful - a handful of villas set in an exotic garden round a pool and the rooms are spacious with lots of hot water and good air conditioning.

The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly and because it is such a small boutique hotel they can provide an individual service. They arranged everything we asked for - eg. onward travel to Phnom Penn by bus (even collecting the tickets for us) and providing lunch from their other hotel to suit our temple intinerary without charging us extra.

have just returned from Asia and the 6 days in Siem Reap were memorable. Sojourn was really special, the staff could do with a better grasp of English as there were some misunderstandings but their smiles more than made up for it! the bungalows are very spacous and feel great, excellent decor and as there's only a few it can never feel crowded, the 15 minute tuk tuk ride into town is very beautiful as you pass through the villages and rice paddies. Please don't get stuck into town, stay here!! you'll be pleased to wake up here.
