It started badly with a delayed flight and I had forgotten to let the hotel know our flight times until last minute so we had to make our own way from the airport. The taxi got lost twice, so we were not in the best mood. The hotel offered us an extra 2 cocktails to apologise for me forgetting to email them until late. It is difficult to highlight any one thing that makes Sojourn great. The food is unrivalled with regular changing seasonal menu as well as western choices, although the local food was so good we never tried them. The staff are welcoming, polite and very engaging. This goes from the front desk to the driver Mr Chhoop. The small resort has only a few bungalows so perfectly quiet and clean. If I was being very critical I would say the bar pool closes quiet early 930. But there is seldom any guests around as everyone is exhausted from temples and sightseeing. There is also no other bar so it may not be everyones cup of tea. However we loved the peace and lack of pounding music. We have recommended this place to everyone we have spoken to and hope to be back very soon.

I stayed at both of the top rated ripadvisor hotels in Siem reap on my recent visit and they are totally opposite.
If you want small, friendly, personel service this is the place for you. The place is spotless and the individual bungalows spacious and comfortable. The staff all call you by your first name and their is a lovely mixture of nationality among the guests.
If you want all the amenities of a large hotel you may be dissapointed.
My only critisism is that the in room massage was done on your bed and it is not that comfortable to have your face in a pillow for an hour!!! There was penty of room so it would have been nice to supply a portable massage table.

I just returned from a two week trip throughout Southeast Asia and have to say the Sojourn was the highlight of my trip. From the moment I called for directions to the time I departed they went out of their way to make my stay memorable. Great food, great room, and great customer service. I would highly recommend anyone staying take the trek tour of the local village..it touched my heart after seeing what the Sojourn is doing for the local village. I plan to now do the same. Yes, the hotel is about 10 minutes from town, 3-4 minutes of it down a short dirt road but that is just one of the may things I found intriguing about the Sojourn - close to town but still provides the guests the ability to get a true feel for how the locals live....the reason I went to Cambodia in the first place.

We booked this room based on the reviews on TripAdivsor and we weren't disappointed!

SERVICE
From the driver that picked us up, Mr. Chup, to the staff that greeted at the hotel, we felt very welcome. The front desk was very attentive and went over our itinerary in detail as we booked two days of tours the hotel. We felt like they went out of our their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and easy. We had the same driver and tour guide, Sokha, over the next three days. It was great to have the consistency and both told us so much about the history and culture of the country -- we loved it!!

ROOM
The rooms are also very clean and spacious. We really loved the attention to the details including the welcome drink and snack, beautiful decor, soaps and outdoor shower. The hotel is also located in a small village outside of Siem Reap which makes it very quiet and peaceful. We were pleased to find out how much the hotel gives back to the local community including a water filtering system and an English school for children.

BEST PART:
Hard to choose. Everything was great. The hotel was quiet and like a mini paradise away from the "bustling" city.

WORST PART:
Massages. Our two masseuses were unprofessional (giggling and talking) and shortened our massages by 20 minutes. We believe the hotel outsources the service, so we would look elsewhere next time.

we were there for 3 nights. Their service is as good as what have seen n the reviews.. due to early deaprture, we took our breakfast at 6am . they took order for breakfast the night before...& the food was served in time. We have Mr Ngim as our driver,. i should praise his careful driving & enjoy his sharing of life in Siam Reap.

I had booked this hotel based on previous reviews and I was not dissapointed. We were picked up from the airport by Mr Kim, who became our personal driver for the duration of our 5 night, 4 day stay at Sojourn. The check by Mr Han in was fast and efficient. The garden villa was lovely, well decorated and a choice of a bath and an indoor or outdoor shower (depending on your mood). The breakfasts were great - you can choose from an a la carte menu, and it is included in the cost of your room. For relaxing after you've been touring the temples all day, there is a salt water pool with a pool bar. Or if you need a bit of extra pampering, you can book a masseur to come and give you a massage in your own villa, though it is not as cheap as ones that you can get in town.

The villas are located outside Siem Reap town, and it is a bit far to walk into town. A trip into town and back on a tuk tuk cost us $4 US. In a car it was a bit more. However, if like me, you don't mind being away from the 'action' and prefer a quieter base, this if for you. The complex is small (approx. 20 guests in total) with eiher villas or a condo. The staff are friendly and very helpful, especially Ms Sokom. You can also dine at the hotel's restaurant if you choose, though we preferred going into town for meals and drinks.

Had 5 nights here in October and could have stayed many more. The other reviews have said it all as this place is just lovely and a great place to stay in a fantastic town. The food was tasty and well presented and breakfasts very generous with a great variety to choose from. I loved the way they had regular tuk tuk and car drivers as you got to know them well. The town was easy to get to along an interesting local road. The staff very very special and made such an effort to personalise our stay. The owners and manager were away for much of our visit and it is credit to Owen (manager) that the service did not falter one bit with all staff from the gardeners to the reception staff exceptionally friendly and polite. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
