“Pool-over”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Unusual in its venue, this hostel has a nice small garden with a great pool in the middle of it.
Apart from the great community area, the hostel offers hot shower, western WC, enough place to pack your stuff. Rooms are clean, but the bed sheets tend to be a bit old and overused; have A/C, fan, TV, mosquito screen. They have good wifi. At the reception desk they can arrange bus tickets etc.
No safe in rooms; there is a not quite available "safety deposit" at the reception.
This hostel is an oasis which can delight any tired travelers after visiting the Angkor area temples (there are a lot of them).

Room Tip: Try to book a room on the upper floors as the ground floor tends to be noisy because of the communit...

The owner is so rude it makes you feel uncomfortable, her glares and general attitude toward you without even saying a word makes for a bad feeling here. It overshadows the beautiful surrounding of the pool and common area. All the staff being lazy and unwilling to help with the smallest of tasks eg: can I have some salt, they will look at you while waiting to order and continue to watch TV until you call them over at least 4 times which is then followed by a huff and eye rolling. The food is ok but the atmosphere created by this owner makes you want to leave and seek food outside. The area is very nice and the rooms basic and clean but this can be found at the same price at another hotel where you feel like your actually welcome. I have lived in south east Asia for many years and understand the cultural service differences but this is something I have never experienced.

Room Tip: Be sure to question what room you are getting for what price as they will change the details and mak...

Despite being a hostel....it's better than quite a few hotels I've seen. For less than $15 a night you can get a nice clean room, air conditioning, tv, clean bathroom with hot showers with breakfast included as well!! Nice little pool and common area. I highly recommend using their tuktuk driver (Mr. Sot) as a tour guide. Incredibly nice. He even bought us souvenirs which he gave to us when he dropped us off at the airport.

We moved to this hotel as the humid heat was taking it's toll a little :-) and wanted a pool! So glad we did. We paid 20 USD for a double private room with en suite, air con, tv, was very clean, bed very comfy (all for only 10 USD each)! The pool is very clean and easily big enough to swim lengths. The sun loungers are fantastic- better than most I've used in 5* resorts!
We turned up without cash, and the guy in reception said we could pay him later- all very friendly!
They have a lot of choice for your free breakfast and it's very nice too. The on site cafe has a lot of choice send is reasonably priced (just takes a very long time for your food to come around lunch time) and to be fair it wasn't the nicest.

My partner and I stayed in angkor boutique hostel (also know as Jasmine Family Hostel) and we thoroughly enjoyed the two nights that we had there! There are a number of reasons that you MUST stay at this hostel including a great, if not slightly busy pool; huge, clean rooms at fantastic value (we only paid 10dollars each and had two double beds and a massive en suite) and a free massive breakfast. What more can you ask for? Moreover, contrary to reviews, we found staff to be very attentive and efficient in providing clean towels.

We have no significant complaints about this hostel. However, if you are travelling alone I would suggest going into town to mad monkey. This hostel isn't far from town and costs less than 2dollars to get in by tuk tuk, but there were few travellers. Also, the breakfast is large and tasty but very basic, so be prepared for various egg, baked bread and fruit combinations.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and had a very spacious double room.

It is a great value for money hotel. Very beautiful garden, cool chill out area, nice rooms, good breakfast. We were suposed to stay only 3 nights and ended up staying 8 nights! The pool is great. Believe me, the city is so hot that at the end of the day, after walk around the temples there's no better feeling than diving into the pool! During my trip around SE Asia, I always recommend this place to other travellers. The only problem is that they never change the sheets and towels and they got very dirty.

Room Tip: the room with 3 beds is bigger, lighter and 5 dollars more.

We booked this hotel after reading some nice reviews about this place. The rooms are clean, they have a nice swimming pool and it's cheap. The reviews also mentioned something about the owner being very rude but we decided to ignore that. I wish we would not have done that!

After checking in the owner asked us if we wanted to stay an other night, I always like to see the room first before I decide so I asked him if I could let him know in 30 minutes. That was fine he said, after 20 minutes I walked to the reception to let him know that we wanted to extend our stay. He answerd that was not possible because the room just got booked on the internet. That surprised us because he just told us it was fine to let him know in 30 minutes. He turned his back to us and told us (with his back facing us) that he just cared about the money an that he could not wait another minute for us to decide. He did not put any effort in finding a solution for the problem and he wanted to end the conversation. This made us a bit upset and we tried to get an explanation he just turned that away by saying that we where bad customers. That was the point for us to just leave the matter and go somewhere else. I have have never been treated with such rude manners while traveling. This man has a nice hotel but he lacks in personality and common standards. Next to that the rest of the reception staff didn't speak a word of English so it was hard to avoid him. I would not recommend this place! However, if you do decide to stay here, check if the owner has the week off before booking.
