When I booked this hotel, I was wary because the price was so inexpensive. Once I arrived, I was so happy I booked it! This was our 13 year wedding anniversary trip and when we walked in the room, it was full of fresh roses and orchids arranged on the bed, sinks, bathroom. That was a very nice and fun surprise. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well and there was even a fridge in the room. The bathroom plumbing was delicate, but that was no surprise being in Cambodia. The staff was VERY helpful when our guide did not arrive the next morning. They made several phone calls for us and helped us out. It isn't right on pub street, but it is only about a half mile walk and we felt quite safe. Also, it is a very short tuk tuk ride. When coming back from the pub street though, make sure your tuk tuk driver knows the hotel. One evening we didn't confirm this and ended up heading toward the airport before we realized he was lost. The breakfast in the mornings was included in the price and was probably the best breakfast we had while we were on our trip. The breakfast was buffet style with lots of choices. The hotel had amazingly good wifi service and also computers for your use in the lobby. The wifi was so good I was able to FaceTime my brother back in Oklahoma, USA and it was like he was in the hotel with me. All the while I was enjoying a cocktail during happy hour in the hotel lobby bar. The hotel offers in room massages and the traditional Khmer massage was wonderful. It was so relaxing and at an affordable price. I had a massage every day we were there. I just can't say enough good things about this hotel. It isn't luxury, but for the price it CANNOT be beat.

Room Tip: I would get a room higher up if you don't mind walking up and downstairs. It is quieter up highe...

This hotel is great even though it a bit far from pub street but still can walk around 15 minutes. The service is good, the room is big, the toilet have bathtub and clean. The buffet breakfast is the best of all the hotel i stayed in cambodia. It simple but have every thing you want from bread to mee and fruit. Plus they give you a welcome drink in lobby and fruit(Mango, banana, orange) waiting in your room. The service i get here is much better that other hotel i stayed which is more expensive. Totally be staying here again.

P/s: Use Sam Tuk Tuk if your looking for Tuk Tuk driver. Just google Sam TukTuk. He's the best tuk2 ever.

had a misunderstanding about airport pickup. luckily they compensated for this by getting us to the airport after checkout for free. :)

as with many other secondary streets in siem reap, street lamps are a rarity. so bring a lamp to light your way.

unfortunately, we came at a time when the local electricity took a hit (a bus snagged a power cable, the birds tell me). so you hear generators, especially in the evening. some hotels, including one wherewe rented our bikes, had no electricity. but fortunately, angkor pearl did. at times, it was fluctuating to the point of intermittently turning off, but it came on immediately after. this is way better than having no electricity for battery-recharging, wifi, and aircon every night.

i noticed that during daytime, when we go back to the hotel to escape the heat, cable tv is off. too bad: those times are a good opportunity to see how local tv shows are like. not a deal-breaker though. cable tv works fine in the evenings, with a few english movie channels, and a good deal of chinese channels.

they have their own tuktuk drivers. we availed of this and got assigned to mr. thean after experiencing how difficult it can be to bike all the way to angkor wat and back. hats off to him, we enjoyed his company and service to us. half-day rate is usd 15. cold water and face towels are already included. they're not there 24/7, though, so arrange beforehand if you need tuktuk service.

breakfast is superb! during our stay, we encountered 2 sets: the one with vegetable rice, and the one with noodles. both sets were delicious! there's also water, coffee, and orange juice. i ate so much, that even after a half-day's worth of temple-running, there's no need for lunch.

the room was spacious enough. the telephone wasn't working at that time, though i felt the need use it only once during our stay. the beds had runners! like neckties, if you ask me. fascinating. the only thing i didn't like with the room was that the table had no nearby outlet where i can place my laptop. so i had to resort to placing my laptop on the bed, where there's an outlet nearby.

for families, they got board games available: scrabble, connect four, jenga, etc. cool!

there's a complimentary plate of fruits inside, with spoon, fork, and knife.

there's also an electric kettle, a small selection of teas and instant coffee, and complimentary bottled water (500 mL x 2). not sure if they replenish the bottled water everyday, though, because we only availed of room service for the 1st of 3 nights' stay.

the room is mostly dimly illuminated. but if need be, there's a switch that turns on a single fluorescent lamp that brightens the entire room. handy for making sure you don't leave anything behind.

the bathroom was ok. if only there were more hooks to hang towels, wet clothes, etc. i didn't mind the shower having no door.

the reception area's got stands for souvenir postcards and ref magnets. too bad i'm not a fan of postcards, and i already bought my ref magnets from outside. but if you like their design, buy it: it's still 1 dollar per piece.

there's no elevator. for my pack-light style of travel, this is not an issue. for those still depending on trolleys, good luck!

the staff are very courteous and accommodating. a very big plus for me :)

and during checkout, they gave us a token. unexpected, but thanks! as to what kind of token, book with them to find out!!

in summary, i very much recommend angkor pearl hotel. they a big reason why i enjoyed our siem reap visit, if only for 3 days. and for those of you who think siem reap is to be visited only once, i now disagree with that view.

and when i come back, i'll be looking forward to staying again at the angkor pearl hotel.

they deserve those 3 tripadvisor plaques (2011-2013).

The Angkor Pearl is really nice place on a quiet street not far from the centre of town ($1 by tuk tuk).

The breakfast was decent and it varied slightly from day to day.

The staff were helpful and accommodating.

The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff were very friendly.

The in-room massage was excellent.

Tuk tuk drivers around Siem Reap generally knew the hotel so all you had to say was 'Angkor Pearl' and agree a price.

The only minor issues I had were the TV not working for my first night there, and the internet sometimes dropping out.

Some tips:
If you arrive at the bus station you get here for $2 in a tuk tuk - just insist on that price.

If you're going to a restaurant by tuk tuk from the hotel, tell the driver the phone number of the place so he can call it and figure out where to go. An address usually isn't enough.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and had a great experience. The staff are extremely helpful. The room size was not too big but sufficient for a couple like us. The food at the restaurant was pretty good and we did experiment with the local Cambodian cuisine which we found to be quite tasty. The location of the hotel is also good.

Overall, considering its cost and other factors that I have mentioned above, I would surely recommend the hotel to others.
