Picked this hotel based on good TA reviews, can't say I agree with too many of them. Staff as friendly as anywhere else I've stayed in Cambodia/Vietnam, location 1km from centre so walkable, WiFi works once there is electricity. Rooms dated, green walls and pink curtains, hole in bath patched up, hard yellow towels that were once white, bed sheets were marked and had hairs on them, generator running around the clock right outside window apart from when it broke down. "Free airport transfer" is collection only, they don't want to know you once youve checked out.

Wouldn't recommend staying here, there has to be better around! Maybe it was just our experience as many others appear to love it here, somehow!

Dear Farmer Tan,

Greetings from Parkane Hotel, Siem Reap

We thank you very much for taking your precious time giving us your value comment about your stay at our hotel.

Please allow us to explain about some of your comment. During your stay there was a black out in the whole of Siem Reap. We turned on our own generator to facilitate our in-house guests. Our Wifi and internet is depended on the provider. When there is no electricity, they can’t supply to the whole of Siem Reap as well.

Refer to our towels, they are new but cream in color, which sometime guests think they’re old.
We hope you will understand this situation.

Once again we thank you for your comment about our location and friendly staff.

We do hope to welcome you again, in the near future.

With our best regards,

Pengkea Chiv

It is hard not to like this hotel, it has a lot of charm, the staff is very friendly (with some having limited English, however this wasn't a huge issue) and the rooms clean.

I award bonus points for 2 'free' bottles of water everyday, the breakfast is pretty good and the tours through the hotel, especially the basic one, were reasonably priced for booking through a hotel. Wi-fi was also free only didn't work for half of a day that I was there.

Can you find the same thing cheaper else where?

I didn't have the urge.

We stayed 3 nights at Parklane. The room was spacious and clean and the staff were friendly.
The room was a great price and was cleaned every day and received complimentary bottles of water.

The internet was fairly fast but flakey in our actual room but was fine if you sat outside on the stairwell.

We had no hot water the days we were there which was ok when it was so hot outside and you want to cool down anyway.

It's a short walk to pub street and the hotel can organise tuk tuk, car etc if you need.

When we checked in with my friend, we were welcomed with a glass of ice orange juice, which is a rescue to us as a first time visitor and had no idea how hot Cambodia is. We stayed for 3 nights and it turn out to be clean, neat and cozy. Staff are very friendly and owner, a cute lady, helped us book tuc tuc tour and gave us useful information. We were provided a full-day tuc tuc service with reasonable price to drive us around, include sunrise in Angkor Wat. It's an excellent experience for the price!

I booked a deluxe twin room with a friend, and we both agreed that the beds were very comfortable and huge. Two bottles of water were provided daily, along with a coffee makes and complementary instant coffee and tea. Bathroom had a bathtub and the water pressure and temperature control were pretty decent. Towels were a bit old, but clean, and was replaced every day. Toiletries were limited to cotton swabs, shower cap and a couple of small soaps, but I tend to bring my own anyways, so it was a non-issue.

Breakfast was a small buffet with 3-4 dishes, a few fruits, porridge, coffee and juice. The dishes seemed to skew to Asian tastes and I would have liked more Western/continental choices (noodles and fried pineapple for breakfast just doesn't appeal to me), but I also noticed that more than two-thirds of the guests at breakfast were Asian, so I guess they cater to the majority of their staying guest's tastes.

WiFi wasn't too good inside the room, we had to go out to the hallway to get a decent and constant connection. I wouldn't have minded if the hallway was air conditioned, but it wasn't and there were mosquitoes waiting for a bite every single time. Decor wasn't much to look at, as the lobby and dining area were covered by kitschy wallpaper, but it was clean and they had an elevator.

The staff arranged for a tuk-tuk to pick us up from the airport, and they weren't too pushy about tours. The receptionist just handed us a piece of paper with tour details and prices while driver (Mr. Mab) sort of hovered beside us while checking in and said he will be outside if we wanted to arrange tours. This was a good thing as I didn't feel like dealing with any sort of hard selling since I had pre-arranged our transportation before going

The one thing I can complain about staff-wise (and this is really stretching it) was that they initially told me they didn't know that I arranged for a late checkout when I booked. They sent me an email confirming this request, but the receptionist told me they weren't informed about it, and they were fully booked on the day we check-out and we couldn't stay late. After I insisted that I requested it at the time of booking and had it confirmed by their reservation officer, and had an email to prove it, the guy finally said we could check-out late.

Location was a 10 minute leisurely walk along the hotel street and the main street to Pub St. and the night market. Lots of shops and dining options along the way, and a grocery store was conveniently located at the end of the street.

Overall, this was a very convenient and comfortable stay and I would recommend this hotel for those looking for a budget-friendly option.

A really nice, cosy and clean hotel worth every penny. Daily breakfast was given with many choices and cater even for Muslim tastes. There is also a pizza restaurant nearby that is halal and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The tours organised by them are cheap but unfortunately they do not organise tours around the city and visit places of interest like the Angkor Museum or War Museum..Contact Mr. Pengkea, the front desk supervisor for assistance and you can be assured of satisfaction.

Room Tip: Chooe the ground floor room as you can easily get access to the restaurant and lobby.
